Chapter 68 Crimson Dawn
Chapter 68 Crimson Dawn
Meanwhile, the other interviewers also exhibited varying degrees of unusual behavior.
The black man's eyes widened, his face turned deathly pale, and liquid kept flowing from his trouser legs, quickly forming a large puddle on the ground.
The Black woman, who hadn't said much before, suddenly burst into tears, tears streaming down her face like a torrential downpour. Strangely, she made no sound, as if afraid of attracting Li Yuan's attention.
The white woman who spoke first felt her hair stand on end, goosebumps rose on her skin, and her body began to tremble unconsciously.
Madeline, who was watching the interview on a screen in an office on a different floor, was suddenly jolted and shoved the pen holder off the table.
This inexplicable aura came and went quickly.
It seemed to exist for only a moment before vanishing without a trace.
Li Yuan stopped wearing his glasses and turned to look at his young female assistant standing at the door, who looked completely bewildered and didn't know what had happened. His face was expressionless, and he spoke in an extremely calm voice:
"Someone has suffered cardiac arrest and collapsed. Could you please get an AED?"
"Ah, ah, okay." The female assistant suddenly realized what was happening and quickly opened the door and ran out.
Li Yuan walked unhurriedly toward the interviewers. As he approached, the white woman jumped up and took a few steps back, sending her chair flying with a crash.
Li Yuan stopped two meters away from them, looking at the white-clad female interviewer who resembled a startled rabbit, her face completely indifferent:
"Will you perform CPR on him, or should I?"
At this moment, of the four conscious people in the room, the black man was still incontinent, and the black woman was still crying uncontrollably.
It seemed that only Li Yuan and the white female interviewer were still rational.
"Ah? Ah! I'll do it! I'll do it! I'm fine with it!" Upon hearing Li Yuan's words, the white female interviewer blinked, shivered, and hurriedly replied.
Immediately, she threw herself to the ground, placed her hands on the white male interviewer's chest, and began to perform CPR.
"The AED is here! The AED is here!"
Just then, the female assistant rushed in from outside, carrying a small suitcase.
As she shouted, she slid down to her knees next to the white male interviewer, forcefully tore open his shirt, took out electrode pads from the box, and attached them to the corresponding positions.
After some first aid, the white male interviewer opened his eyes with a "whoosh" and lay on the ground, panting heavily.
After confirming that he had regained vital signs, the white female interviewer got up from the ground and cautiously glanced at Li Yuan.
Li Yuan smiled nonchalantly: "Is the interview over? Are there any further steps?"
"If not, could you introduce me to the Invisible Man?"
"He's been my idol since I was a child. Now that I'm here, I'm determined to see him in person and get his autograph."
"Wait a minute, I'm going to go live to show off to my fans."
The white female interviewer stammered for a long time but couldn't say a word. Her mind was still blank, and her usual quick wit had completely disappeared. She seemed to not know how to answer.
Just then, her cell phone rang in her pocket.
She frantically pulled out her phone and put it to her ear, but before she could speak, she heard someone on the other end say, "Aishili, bring him to my office."
These words seemed to finally bring her back to her senses: "Yes, Ms. Madeline."
She took a deep breath, walked to Li Yuan's side, and smiled again: "Mr. Arthur Li, please come with me. Vice President Madeline Steelwell wants to see you."
Li Yuan nodded, indicating that she should lead the way.
Ashley glanced one last time at the still-lying white male interviewer before walking out of the room.
The two said the elevator went up dozens of floors before finally stopping in front of a door at the end of the corridor.
Ashley knocked on the door, and a voice from inside the room said, "Come in."
As she entered, Madeline sat in her office chair with a warm smile on her face: "Welcome, Mr. Arthur Lee."
She then glanced at Ashley without making a sound, and Ashley, understanding, left the room and closed the door.
Li Yuan walked to the desk and sat down, saying calmly, "Hello, ma'am."
Madeline placed her hands on the table, looking at Li Yuan with admiration in her eyes:
"I must say, you are a very thoughtful young man, and you are also full of courage."
"If you just want to apply to become a registered hero of the Vought Corporation, I can approve it right now."
"But what you want to apply for is the Super Seven."
"Of course, it's normal for you to have this idea. I dare say that every superhero in the world wants to join the Seven."
"Among those competing with you, there are those with superpowers greater than yours, those with more experience than you, and those whose identities and images are more appealing to the public than yours."
"Many of them have participated in various talent shows since childhood, participated in rescue operations time and time again, and attracted a large number of loyal fans."
"Maeve, A-Train, Deepsea, and Starlight all went through many trials and tribulations before finally joining the Seven."
"Your superpowers have only been awakened for a few days now, and of course, you are very brave, stepping forward to almost perfectly save the passengers on a flight."
"But isn't it a bit unrealistic and overly ambitious to want to join the Super Seven right now?"
"Here's what we'll do: if you're willing to change your target and join another superhero team, I can offer you a contract that will absolutely satisfy you."
As she spoke, she looked at Li Yuan earnestly, her eyes full of admiration and a "I'm doing this for your own good" expression.
Li Yuan was silent for a moment, then smiled and shook his head, slowly saying:
"Madam, have you ever heard of a famous saying from the East?"
The famous saying goes: "If you stand in the right place at the right time, even a pig can fly."
"This means that timing is very important. When the opportunity comes, you don't need to be the best; you just need to be the most suitable person."
He leaned back slightly in his chair: "The opportunity to join this country's military system is a once-in-a-lifetime one."
"It was the result of countless prior preparations, a combination of favorable timing, location, and people, that led to this serendipitous opportunity!"
"Now, in this crucial voting period, we can't afford to miss even the slightest chance to increase our chances of winning, can we?"
"After all, even the Invisible Man went on a classified mission for this, are you just going to watch the opportunity slip through your fingers, madam?"
Madeline's smile faded slightly. She gazed at Li Yuan for a long while before slowly nodding her head.
"It seems we've reached an agreement. From now on, your superhero name will be Red Dawn."
