Chapter 60 Agent Carter
Chapter 60 Agent Carter
"I think only you can complete this task."
Howard Stark embraced the woman before boarding a speedboat and leaving the shore.
If the female agent cannot clear his name, he will be wanted for treason.
During his hearing a few days ago, he was accused of selling weapons to the enemy of the state.
It's ridiculous. How could someone as smart as Howard do something so stupid?
It's obvious that someone is trying to frame him.
But the guys in the Strategic Science Department didn't believe in themselves.
As a last resort, they had no choice but to call on their old friend, female agent Carter.
As expected, she trusted Howard completely and agreed to help.
"How about a ride, Ms. Carter?"
Seeing that Howard had left safely, Jarvis, the butler, opened the car door and invited Carter.
The car slowly drove through one street after another.
The street scenes and atmosphere were as usual along the way.
Just one day earlier, the head of the Strategic Sciences Department had issued a new mission.
That is to arrest Howard Stark immediately.
Agent Thompson spearheaded the operation, pushing Carter to the sidelines.
Carter was very unhappy about this.
It's too stereotypical to think she's only suited for secretarial work just because of her gender.
"Good heavens! Who's so reckless?"
Jarvis suddenly slammed on the brakes and looked at the man standing in front of the car.
This interrupted Carter's train of thought.
This is right in the middle of the road, how could they just stop their car like this?
Carter, who was in a bad mood, opened the car door without thinking.
"Squat down, hands behind your head, you have three seconds!"
She pulled out a pistol from her waist and pointed it at the man's head with swift movements.
"Don't shoot! Don't shoot! I'm here to help you!"
The man squatted down as Carter instructed, then looked up.
"My name is Qin, and I'm here because of Steve Rogers!"
It was also a few days ago.
"Ouch! Ouch—"
It was as if Qin Wuying had crawled out of a narrow hole; he completed the teleportation with great difficulty.
Looking back, I realized I had come out of a clock.
In other words, this large clock is the anchor point for his time travel.
After marking the door with magic, Qin Wuying pushed it open and tried to leave.
Then he discovered that he was in a mysterious cellar.
At the entrance to the cellar, there was a gleaming nameplate belonging to its owner.
Howard Stark.
Qin Wuying was very reassured about this; the Stark family's security system was very advanced.
This clock is absolutely safe.
However, less than two days later, a major mishap occurred.
The cellar where the clock was located had been robbed!
A whole bunch of Howard Stark’s ingenious gadgets and latest inventions have disappeared.
The clock also disappeared without a trace.
What the hell? They even steal a big clock!
Moreover, the marks I made were also erased.
This means that Qin Wuying was temporarily trapped in this time!
Left with no other choice, he was forced to become a detective and begin investigating.
In addition, he had a vague feeling that if it were Carter, he might know something about Captain America.
Now, Agent Carter's hand holding the gun trembled slightly.
"I don't know the person you're talking about, but I can give you a ride."
After saying that, Carter pulled Qin Wuying into the car, amidst Jarvis's puzzled gaze.
"Uh, Miss Carter, Mr. Stark doesn't like strangers riding in his car."
"My permission is fine."
Carter's domineering remarks forced Jarvis to turn back and focus on driving.
Shortly afterward, the car stopped in front of a restaurant.
Qin Wuying followed Carter out of the car and into the restaurant.
Fortunately, there was still a little time before closing time.
"What would you like to eat?"
"No, I'm not particularly hungry."
Qin Wuying declined Agent Carter's offer.
"Let me be blunt, you're a Hydra spy?"
Carter, who appeared to be enjoying a cake, was actually pointing a pistol at Qin Wuying's leg.
"Nine...Hydra?"
Upon hearing this word, Qin Wuying almost laughed.
How did I come to associate myself with those Hydra guys?
"No one else in the world knows anything about Steve except me."
Carter frowned, looking mysterious.
"Great, so you know now...it hurts, it hurts, it hurts!"
Qin Wuying couldn't help but cry out when Carter's high heels stomped on her foot.
"Answer my question first, or I'll kill you right now."
"Okay, okay!" Qin Wuying nodded in agreement quickly.
"Whether you believe it or not, I come from the Strategic Science Department of the future, or rather, S.H.I.E.L.D."
Carter stomped harder.
After Qin Wuying took out his ID and a 21st-century cell phone and explained repeatedly, Carter finally relaxed his doubts.
"I can't completely trust you yet, but I can tell you a little something first."
Upon hearing Carter's confirmation that things had progressed, Qin Wuying quickly stepped forward.
After a brief exchange, Qin Wuying began to understand Carter's meaning.
In Carter's memory, Steve Rogers was always Captain America.
After enlisting, he was selected to become the first super soldier.
He met and became acquainted with Carter during various missions, and ultimately his plane crashed in the Arctic.
But at some point, the people around him changed and no longer remembered Steve's deeds.
Even more bizarrely, Steve, who should have been sleeping in the polar regions, has reappeared.
Both his physique and his memories are different from the original Steve.
Carter found him through some means, but he didn't recognize Carter at all.
"So... you're the only one who remembers Captain America."
Qin Wuying leaned back in her chair, feeling her head throbbing more and more.
Some evil force has secretly altered the timeline.
"You could say that, but you know what I mean, don't you?"
Carter replied.
Qin Wuying nodded. Now, he had to make good use of Agent Carter's connection.
In addition, an urgent task is to retrieve the table that serves as the anchor point.
Otherwise, even going back would be a big problem.
"In short, if you're sincere, help me get Howard Stark sorted out."
Carter tossed a business card with his contact number and address on it and got up to leave the restaurant.
Qin Wuying stared blankly at the last bit of cake left.
"Sir, we're closing soon. Would you mind paying the bill?"
A waiter came over and whispered a reminder to Qin Wuying.
"What? She didn't pay the bill?!"
Fortunately, Qin Wuying was prepared.
He took out some cash from his jacket pocket and placed it on the table.
The waiter smiled but didn't pick them up.
Qin Wuying had no choice but to give a small tip before leaving.
Now, all we have to do is wait for Carter's call and then investigate the theft together.
