Chapter 37 A Terrible Day
Chapter 37 A Terrible Day
Baron breathed his last.
Flowers of sin sprouted and bloomed from the wounds of the sinner, covering his entire chest. Dick, however, seemed oblivious, still mechanically stabbing the corpse with his knife.
It was as if with just a little more effort, the pain in my heart could be dispelled, and with just a little more effort, my family members could be brought back to life.
Di Jie wanted to draw his gun to fight back, but his hands were trembling uncontrollably due to the effects of the poison. He finally managed to touch the holster, but it was empty.
Looking up, I saw that the girl was holding a gun.
The dark muzzle of the gun was pointed at Di Jie.
The Gru GP100 has a small body, making it suitable for police officers to draw and hold with one hand, but it appears so huge when it is wrapped in the small hand of a girl.
"Listen to me...give it to me!" Dee's Adam's apple bobbed as he slowly straightened up, trying to snatch the gun.
But the next second, the girl did something completely unexpected.
She turned the gun around and pointed it at her forehead.
"You didn't bully me...you're a good person..."
Before Di Jie could stop her, the girl had already pulled the trigger.
boom!
Blood splattered.
Dijon watched helplessly as the girl died before his eyes, and the shock he felt at that moment was even greater than the death of Baron.
That bullet took away the poor child, and it also took away Dee's soul.
He shakily took the gun back from the corpse's hand, but didn't know what to do with it.
Disordered footsteps echoed downstairs, while Dick continued to vent his anger at the corpse.
He seemed to know what he was supposed to do.
"Hurry up, they're coming!"
Dee's roar woke the boy up. The boy blinked blankly, not understanding why the corrupt cop who had been colluding with Baron just a moment ago would suddenly remind him to run away.
But this wasn't the time to let his mind wander, so the boy jumped out of bed and ran back to the rooftop.
That's how he sneaked into Barron's mansion.
Di Jie stared blankly at the gun in his hand.
He remembered someone, the leader of the Red Hood gang who had almost drowned in the chemical pool five years ago.
When Di Jie pulled him out with a landing net from the shore, the man's lungs were full of water, and his skin was pale and shriveled from being soaked in chemicals.
He was crying.
His swollen eyes were soaked in blood and tears, his two pitiful eyebrows drooped almost to the corners of his mouth, and a chilling low laugh echoed in his chest.
"Oh! It only takes one day to ruin a person... one bad day."
"The water splashed on my trouser legs,
"The fallen leaves that drifted into my collar"
Missed the early bus
A look of disdain.
"A rude roar,"
"Vicious curses,
"A salary that can't support a family"
"And there's a woman lying on the iron platform..."
He recounted his past with fragmented singing, then turned his head, his radiant smile seemingly melting into Di Jie's eyes.
"I almost forgot, there's also the child in the woman's belly."
……
In less than a day, Di Jie felt his life was ruined. He gripped his gun and wandered into the corridor like a zombie.
Approaching them were Baron's men.
"Mr. Dejie, boss..."
He raised his gun and emptied the magazine in an instant, giving the other party no chance to react.
Two or three gangsters collapsed to the ground, groaning in pain.
But he offered no support and soon fell victim to the gang's counterattack.
The ceiling of the corridor was covered in mold, like ink stains on a Rorschach mask, constantly shifting with the rise and fall of his chest.
"What a terrible day."
Dijon breathed his last.
……
Qin Wei was startled awake by the doorbell. He rubbed his temples and went downstairs to open the door.
"Excuse me for disturbing you, but the work you instructed me to do has been completed. Please take a look."
Paul the butler had already shown the staff from the asset appraisal center around the estate and was now there to discuss the selling price with Qin Wei.
He handed a form to Qin Wei.
Qin Wei glanced at the table briefly; the asset appraisal center was asking for around $1.8 million.
"What do you think?" he asked Paul.
"That depends on whether the owner urgently needs funds. If so, we can negotiate the price down to 1.73 million, which would ensure the deal is finalized within five years..."
"Five years is too long, three days at most."
"Three days..." The butler's brow furrowed slightly. "In that case, you might be able to sell the estate to an asset appraisal center at a low price, which would allow the transaction to be completed immediately, but the price..."
"Stop dawdling, just say it."
Paul's contract is about to expire, and the sooner he sells the estate, the sooner he can sign a new one. However, being a professional steward, he must explain the pros and cons to the owner.
"It will probably only sell for around 1.2 million, of which..."
Qin Wei didn't want to listen.
This estate is a hot potato. Now, whatever price it fetches goes into his pocket, but once Maroni falls from power and the estate goes to judicial auction, it will only fetch a pittance, and the money might even be confiscated.
He slapped the form on Paul's chest:
"I'm leaving everything to you. Whether you want to take a cut or line your own pocket, I don't care. Just don't forget to leave the car in the garage."
A house is useless, but a car is a great thing. Oswald's car has a broken steering wheel and is still under repair, so we can just get a replacement from the Dodge garage.
He thought of Selena again.
Catwoman likes riding motorcycles, right? I wonder if there are any good motorcycles in the garage, like a Kawasaki Six-Eyed Demon or a Suzuki Hayabusa. If there are, I'd like to send a few over to get to know her better.
The stronger the friendship with the main characters, the better.
After giving instructions, Qin Wei returned to the second floor and patted Oswald, who was snoring loudly.
"Wake up, it's time to get down to business!"
"Ah... serious business? What serious business!"
Oswald half-closed his sleepy eyes, his hair sticking up in the air as if electrified, forcibly adding several inches to his height.
"Check your phone. Has anyone messaged you saying something big happened in the district?"
Oswald flipped open his phone screen and was startled by the numerous missed calls. Almost all the calls were from "Uncle" Reuss, who had also sent several text messages, the latest one from five minutes ago.
"Where have you been? Why aren't you answering the phone? The boss gave us a death order: catch the murderer within three days!"
He flipped through the previous messages and learned of the death of the madman, Baron.
"Barron is dead?! You knew it!"
Oswald looked at Qin Wei with disbelief. He didn't understand how Qin Wei knew that Dick would succeed, even if he had predicted that Dick would seek revenge.
"Why are you making me sound like a charlatan! Didn't we agree from the beginning that if Dick could kill Baron, it meant he had some skill and was worth recruiting?" Qin Wei fixed his hair in front of the full-length mirror and then grabbed a bottle of hairspray from the cabinet and sprayed it on.
"A charlatan? Oh no, no, no! You underestimate yourself! In my heart, you are as great and mysterious as a prophet. Give me a chance to kneel down and kiss your shoes, and I'll lick them to shreds."
"You're disgusting, are you gay?" Qin Wei launched a kick, which Oswald nimbly dodged.
"Stop joking," Oswald said seriously. "You want to recruit Dick, but the entire Lower District is after him, and even the Diamond District might get involved. You finally managed to calm Maroni's suspicions, and now you're openly recruiting someone who killed a gang leader? Isn't that blatantly declaring war on him?"
That's true.
Qin Wei tossed the hairspray to Oswald and grabbed his coat from the sofa.
"Is Baron really that important to Maronny?"
Spending so much time with Qin Wei had sharpened Oswald's mind considerably, and with a little prompting, he understood: "You mean Maroni doesn't care who the murderer is, as long as someone can deliver on their promise?"
"Yeah, don't forget that casino massacre, we almost became scapegoats."
"I see, then let's go!"
Oswald finished styling his hair and was about to go downstairs when Qin Wei grabbed him.
"Where are you going, driving around like a madman! There's an elevator on the second floor that goes directly to the parking garage. Don't you want to see what amazing things are parked there?"
