39. The Little Spider with Explosive Combat Power
39. The Little Spider with Explosive Combat Power
"Shit! Shit!"
Eddie muttered curses under his breath as he ran away as fast as he could.
He had just rented the house and hadn't lived there for long. It was such a waste. He wouldn't have cared about that amount of money before, but now he treasured it.
No matter how heartbroken I am, saving my life is the most important thing.
Eddie groped his way through the unlit streets of Hell's Kitchen, his expression tense, not only wary of potential killers but also of the local residents.
Fortunately, his tattered clothes and the hat covering his head made him look even more homeless than a homeless person, and passersby stared at him with strange eyes, as if they were afraid he would rob them.
Eddie soon arrived at the place he had arranged to meet Peter.
He used to frequent Hell's Kitchen, especially during the period when the Daily Bugle reported on suspected vampire predation, and he visited Hell's Kitchen many times.
I only found out about this great place through some social interactions; it's secluded, safe, and a place where I can stay temporarily.
Not far from that tree hole is a hidden ruin; you can hide inside by curling up slightly.
According to that guy, this is where he hides from pursuers, so it's guaranteed to be safe.
Eddie curled up in the small space formed by a few concrete slabs and felt a sense of security. This small space gave him a stronger sense of security than the rented room.
Eyes, surrounded by dark circles, stared intently at the tree hole through the gaps.
Eddie knew Peter wasn't an ordinary person. How could an ordinary person get so many vampire photos, let alone videos, especially rare torture videos?
This is also why he borrowed money from Peter; he wasn't afraid of the dangers of Hell's Kitchen. Otherwise, he would never have let a kid who looked like just a high school student get involved in such a dangerous situation.
Time passed second by second, and suddenly Eddie felt a chill that seeped into his bones, his hair stood on end, and cold sweat instantly soaked through his entire body.
He instinctively lunged forward, and a pale arm pierced through the concrete behind him, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Eddie didn't even turn his head, he just took off running. It was so scary, he knew without even guessing that it was a vampire.
"I'm afraid I'm going to fail today..."
The more he ran, the colder his heart became. There was no sound behind him, which was the most terrifying thing.
A shadow flashed silently, and a tall, slender figure appeared before them, his face covered except for his eyes.
Under the moonlight, the murderous intent emanating from those eyes was like a giant hand, gripping Eddie's heart tightly.
He had only one thought at that moment.
"You're dead!"
The waving arm created a whistling sound as it slammed down hard on Eddie.
Eddie had a feeling that this blow could cut him in two.
In the face of a life-or-death crisis, time seemed to stretch out countless times. He quickly reviewed his life in his mind, and it seemed that there were no particularly brilliant moments.
"Vampire, fuck you!!!"
This was Eddie's last roar in the world.
next moment.
"Spider-Man, attack!"
A figure dressed in a red and blue bodysuit leaped out from behind the tree, shouting a high-pitched tune, and arrived in front of Eddie at a speed much faster than a vampire.
With a single punch, the vampire's upper body vanished instantly, blood splattering everywhere.
"Ugh... ugh..."
"I'm sorry, my power is getting stronger and stronger, and I haven't been able to control it."
Spider-Man, while gagging, looked at Eddie and said, "Mr. Reporter, are you alright?"
Eddie seemed oblivious; things had turned out too quickly for him to process.
A few seconds later, he stammered, "Are you Peter?"
Peter immediately jumped up, gesturing wildly, and said, "Mr. Reporter, I'm Spider-Man, not Peter."
Eddie nodded knowingly.
"Alright, let's hurry up, it's dangerous here." Spider-Man carefully picked up Eddie with his left hand, and with his right hand, he shot out webs, quickly moving forward between the skyscrapers.
Eddie let out a terrified scream; he had never experienced such a novel and exciting way of traveling in his life.
Halfway there, Spider-Man suddenly stopped and put Eddie on the roof.
"Ugh... what's wrong?" Eddie asked, gagging. He felt like his body was about to fall apart.
Spider-Man skillfully and quickly reloaded the web-shooters in his hand, and said in a serious tone, "Mr. Reporter, stay behind me. There are many enemies."
With Eddie shielded behind him, the enhanced Spider-Sense can now actively detect dangers within a radius of 500 meters.
In his perception, there were many dangers all around.
"Don't be afraid, Mr. Reporter, I'll definitely get you out of here safely," Spider-Man reassured him.
Eddie nodded blankly, looking helplessly at the silent night sky around him.
A rustling sound came from behind Spider-Man's mask, revealing an expression of unwavering confidence—confidence born from his ever-growing power.
A mournful cry rang out, accompanied by several vampires leaping high into the air and swooping down on Spider-Man.
"Bang bang bang..."
The little spider casually swung its arms a few times, and the vampire's head was blown off.
The strong smell of blood filled his nostrils, and Spider-Man suppressed the urge to vomit, focusing his attention.
Eddie, seeing how easily the vampire Spider-Man was defeated, looked at Spider-Man with astonishment. This was Superman!
"Boom—"
As if the sound of a pack of wild beasts running could be heard, Spider-Man's muscles tensed, but his attention was focused more on Eddie.
He thought to himself, "It's unreasonable to send so many vampires just for a reporter."
Before they could think it through, hordes of vampires began climbing up the apartment wall.
They roared and attacked Spider-Man, but Spider-Man simply raised his arms and kicked, and the vampires died instantly.
Any vampire who tried to get close to Eddie was slapped to pieces by Spider-Man. Fortunately, vampires are environmentally friendly, otherwise there would have been a bloodbath on the roof today.
Soon, only five vampires remained. They hovered eerily in the air, clearly much more advanced than the previous vampires.
One of the vampires, who appeared to be the leader, looked at Spider-Man with a cold, hateful gaze, as if Spider-Man had done something to him.
"Spider-Man, I'm going to kill you!"
The five vampires launched an attack together.
Spider-Man is closer to Eddie. If he could outrun Eddie by swinging on his webs, he really wouldn't want to fight the vampires with Eddie. As long as they return to that place, no matter how many vampires come, it won't matter.
In the blink of an eye, the five vampires were already within reach.
Spider-Man's muscles bulged wildly, tearing his red and blue bodysuit apart. Just as he was about to defend himself, a sharp pain shot through his mind, and he instinctively covered his head.
It was too late for regrets; one of the vampires was right next to Eddie.
Spider-Man's proud Spider-Sense allowed him to see everything that was about to happen to Eddie, but there was nothing he could do to save him.
In the flashback, it was as if this scene had been experienced in another place.
"No!"
The little spider let out a desperate howl.
"Thump!"
At the critical moment, a booming sound, like a heartbeat, suddenly rang out in the void.
The world stopped!
