Chapter 57 Charging into Battle
Chapter 57 Charging into Battle
"There are many different magical fluctuations; it must be a battle."
Isabella narrowed her alluring peach blossom eyes slightly, her originally languid expression becoming somewhat more subdued.
"Let's go take a look."
Lynn pushed off with his feet, and his speed suddenly increased.
After crossing a small hill, the view below came into view.
It was a sturdy fortress built against the mountain, and the north city wall was already crowded with people, creating a tense atmosphere.
Outside the city, a massive, dark army of demons surged in like a tidal wave, stretching as far as the eye could see.
On the command platform at the highest point of the city wall stood a silver figure.
That was the Lord of North City, Earl Hurst.
"Archers, prepare! Fire!"
With Hurst's command, countless arrows rained down, exploding into sprays of blood among the demon army.
But for the massive demon army, this loss was insignificant.
At this moment, the demons in front are using various siege weapons to ram the city gate.
"Mage unit, attack!"
Hurst gave the order again, and from the towers on both sides of the city wall, a dozen robed mages raised their staffs, unleashing fireballs, ice spikes, lightning bolts, and all sorts of magic upon the city below.
Rumble!
The violent explosion created a shockwave that instantly cleared the area it hit, turning countless demons into black particles in an instant.
The battle began without any probing, immediately escalating into its most brutal and intense phase.
Lynn stood on the hillside, his cold gaze sweeping across the entire battlefield.
In a chaotic battle of this scale, if an individual's strength is not concentrated on key points, they can easily be swallowed up by the demon army.
The commander must be found.
Taking advantage of his elevated position, he quickly located a high ground behind the demon army.
There stood a unique figure.
It was a demon riding a skeletal warhorse, holding an exaggeratedly designed black spear with its tip pointing to the ground. Even from a distance, one could feel its powerful oppressive aura.
"That's Valerius, the Demon King's rising general. Countless human warriors have died by his spear in the past two years."
Noticing where Lynn's gaze was directed, Isa explained.
"I can sense that he is much stronger than the Thousand-Gun Retoas I've seen before."
Lynn drew his twin swords, his gaze sharp as knives. "Let's go!"
"good!"
Before Lynn could even give instructions, Cromwell rushed down the mountain beside him.
Before long, the old man rushed into the demon horde, and with each swing of his huge spiked club, he could take down several demons.
"What a reckless old man."
Laofen sighed and followed suit.
Isa chuckled and shook her head. She raised her staff, and several purple magic missiles shot out, accurately blasting away the monsters that were trying to ambush Cromwell from behind.
With the powerful intervention of these three, the flank of the demon army was immediately thrown into chaos.
Lynn, on the other hand, set his sights directly on Valerius.
The moment the old man and his two companions drew a lot of fire, Lynn suddenly exerted force with his feet, and his whole body shot along the ground like an arrow.
He moved swiftly through the demon army; ordinary demons who tried to stop him were usually cut in half the next second.
At this moment, all he could see was the figure riding on the skeletal warhorse.
Three hundred meters, two hundred meters, one hundred meters...
From the rear of the battlefield, Valerius also noticed the human charging towards him.
"Oh? You've got guts."
Valerius smiled and patted the skeletal warhorse he was sitting on.
The warhorse neighed and carried him toward Lynn.
The two met amidst a vast army.
Without the slightest hesitation, Valerius thrust out with his spear, while Lynn swiftly crossed his two swords into a cross shape, using the momentum to slightly deflect the spear's attack.
That's a lot of force!
As soon as they exchanged blows, Lynn sensed the power of his opponent.
He is the strongest warrior I have ever seen.
Valerius was also somewhat surprised. His shot, propelled by the momentum of his warhorse, was enough to pierce the city wall, but now this seemingly frail human had managed to deflect it.
The strength and speed of the human before him exceeded his expectations.
"I never imagined that the human race would have a warrior like you."
Valerius braced himself with both arms, pressing down with his spear, attempting to crush Lynn into the dirt.
"There are plenty of people like me, you just haven't met them yet."
As Lynn spoke, he slightly bent his knees to release the terrifying force pressing on the sword, then suddenly slid to the side, the blade slicing along the gun shaft with sparks and lightning towards the opponent's palm.
Valerius flicked his lance, deflecting Lynn's twin swords. The skeletal warhorse, extremely intelligent, seized the opportunity to rear up on its forelegs, aiming for Lynn's chest.
Lynn rolled to the side to avoid being trampled by the warhorse, and with a backhand slash, he struck the horse's leg bone.
But it only left a faint white mark.
Valerius turned his horse around, and his spear thrust out like a rain of pear blossoms, each thrust aimed straight for a vital point. The spear shadows overlapped, making them difficult to catch with the naked eye.
Lynn used his futuristic vision to predict all of the opponent's attack points and frantically wielded his twin swords to block them one by one.
The clanging and clattering sounds were as dense as rain, and sparks flew wildly between the two.
This duel, located in the heart of the battlefield, quickly attracted countless eyes.
On the city wall, Earl Hurst frowned as he watched Lynn wielding his sword below.
"Who is that young man?" he asked his adjutant.
"I don't know, Your Excellency. Judging from their attire, they seem to be from the south, perhaps adventurers passing through."
"A mere passing adventurer dares to charge into battle and challenge the demon general? He deserves our respect."
Earl Hurst's eyes lit up with admiration, and the next moment he drew his sword. "Come with me and charge out! Help them!"
In the center of the battlefield.
The battle between Lynn and Valerius has reached a critical moment.
"Human, state your name."
Valerius pointed his spear directly at Lynn's forehead. "You deserve to die by my spear."
"But you're not worth my name."
Lynn suddenly exerted force with his feet, and his figure blurred for a moment.
Valerius's pupils contracted, and the next second, a sense of crisis came from behind him.
He instinctively twisted his waist and swept his spear behind him recklessly.
This counterattack was swift as lightning, enough to wipe out any attackers behind him.
But it was too late.
A sharp longsword pierced his chest precisely from behind.
Valerius looked down at the sword at his chest, his eyes filled with disbelief. "To calculate the direction of my attack with such precision, could you predict it?"
You guessed right.
Lynn drew his longsword, and Valerius's body began to dissipate.
The skeletal warhorse, now without its master, crumbled into a pile of bones with a "crash" in the next second.
With their commander dead, the demon army's offensive noticeably stalled for a moment.
"kill!"
Count Hurst, on the other hand, had already led his soldiers out like tigers descending a mountain.
