Chapter 45 Spirit Particle Decomposer
Chapter 45 Spirit Particle Decomposer
"Kane, where are you going?" Harry and Ron jogged a few steps to catch up with Kane, and then they saw the brain on his head.
"Wow, that's a cowboy hat? It looks so cool!" Ron said enviously, looking at the hat on Kane's head.
"How about I make one for you if you want?" Kane raised an eyebrow and looked at Ron, nodding without hesitation. He took out a spider web from his pocket and quickly made an exquisite top hat with a few deft movements.
"My hat was like this from the beginning. If you want this kind of cowboy hat, you can press it to shape it." Kane said, then looked at Harry, still holding a spider web in his hand.
Harry quickly shook his head; he actually quite liked his messy hair, and...
A figure that he didn't particularly want to see slowly appeared behind Kane.
"What is that white material in your hand?" Snape asked in a low voice, appearing abruptly like a ghost.
"Uh... spider web." Kane turned around somewhat awkwardly, and when he saw it was Snape, he remembered the mess he had made of him in Potions class, and felt a little guilty towards the professor.
Snape let out a knowing "Ah~" as if recalling Kane's special magical ability to alter the form of living beings, then continued, "Those eight-eyed giant spiders in the Forbidden Forest? I remember you and Hagrid were quite close, weren't you?"
Kane nodded. It was indeed good, but why did Snape bring it up? What was the connection between the Spider and Hagrid?
"Emmm, so what?"
"So Hagrid didn't tell you that those spiders in the Forbidden Forest that can eat a person's brain like a nut were his pets?" Snape finished speaking, pushed open the door to the Potions classroom, and went inside. Kane, upon hearing that the giant spiders were Hagrid's pets, was left with an endless sea of questions above his head, aside from his hair and hat.
"No? Really? Those giant spiders in the Forbidden Forest are Hagrid's pets? What if Hagrid finds out what I've done? He'll break off all ties with me!"
"Hmm...it's hard to say." Harry scratched his head, not daring to make a guarantee, while Ron shook his head: "Probably not, after all, it's a spider. How bizarre must Hagrid's taste be to keep a spider as a pet? I still think Snape was just teasing you."
Kane looked at Harry and Ron's completely different opinions and felt that neither of them was very informative. Just then, a reliable adult appeared out of nowhere.
"Old Maxwell, what's up?" Kane looked at Maxwell.
"Professor Snape is a serious and aloof person. If he didn't have designs on you, he wouldn't have bothered to talk to you at all. After all, he's avoiding you as much as he can with your performance in Potions class," Maxwell explained.
Kane, understanding the unspoken meaning, immediately realized: "I have something he needs, but he's too proud to ask me directly. So he pointed out that the giant spider I killed was Hagrid's pet, giving me a reason to ask him for help. After all, if he said that, he must have a way, and then we can make an equal deal."
"So what he needs..." Kane looked at the remaining spiderweb in his hand, "It's not these things, is it?"
"Kane, what's wrong?" Harry asked Kane, who was suddenly lost in thought. Kane quickly recovered and shook his head. "Nothing, I need to talk to Professor Snape. You guys go ahead and do your work. Remember to bring me some food."
With that, Kane knocked on the door of the Potions classroom.
Harry and Ron's lips twitched at the sight. Kane used to stay after Charms, Transfiguration, and Defense Against the Dark Arts classes to get extra help from the professors.
And now, Kane, who turns Potions class into a cooking class, still couldn't resist and reached out his claws to Snape.
"I bet Snape was furious."
"I bet he'll be so angry he'll skip Potions class next week."
Harry and Ron left the corridor in a coordinated manner, and the door to the Potions classroom opened just as they were doing so.
It looked as if Snape had been eavesdropping inside and only opened the door after Harry and Ron had left.
"Is there a problem, Mr. Heath?" Snape appeared in the room and asked Kane in a low voice.
"Professor, help me!" Kane didn't play games with Snape. Believing that sincerity was the ultimate weapon, he went straight for the kill, pulling out the spider web in his hand: "I won't let you help me for nothing! I'll give you a present, consider it an early Christmas."
Snape had anticipated this, but he still hadn't expected Kane to go straight to this without any pretense...
Although it felt unfamiliar, it was surprisingly relaxing and not tiring at all.
"Yes, come in." Snape opened the door and let Kane in.
"Would you like me to make you a cup of tea?" Snape asked, half-politely and half-jokingly, while remaining seated, his eyes fixed on the spiderweb Kane had placed on his desk tray.
"Green tea is fine, thank you."
Snape: "..."
Despite remaining silent, he still waved his wand and used magic to brew Kane a pot of green tea.
"Professor, I killed a whole bunch of giant spiders in the Forbidden Forest. I didn't know they were Hagrid's pets. What's your plan?" Kane asked, taking a sip of his green tea and looking troubled.
"How did you find those spiders?" Snape asked quietly.
"The spider silk ball Hagrid gave me."
"So you didn't even consider where Hagrid got that spider silk ball from?" Snape rolled his eyes at Kane, as expected of Gryffindor.
"I thought it was just a regular wayfinding tool. Professor, do you have any ideas?" Kane asked, scratching his face somewhat awkwardly.
"Ahem." Snape stared intently at the spiderweb on the tray, his meaning all too clear.
Kane didn't hesitate either; he emptied most of the spider webs from his pockets and piled them up on the tray, forming a small mountain.
Snape pulled the tray back with satisfaction: "The properties of this material are remarkably similar to the slime secreted by groundbats. Although your potion-making skills are appalling, your amazing ability is still quite useful in potion-making and alchemy materials."
"Professor, what should I do?" Kane asked.
"Is Aragog still alive? The biggest spider?" Snape asked deliberately, because a young wizard like Kane, who was steeped in dark magic from birth, might have a chance of succeeding if he didn't intend to observe from the outside but instead chose to break through the massive number of spiders and kill Aragog.
Now he needs to know if Aragok is still alive. If he is, all he needs to do is give Aragok an amnesia potion. After all, Aragok is the only spider in the entire octopus spider colony that can talk, and most of the professors do the same thing whenever they need a part of a spider's body or venom.
And if he dies...
Hmm, anyway, we already have the spider web, right?
Kane gestured with his hand: "Is it an old, frighteningly large spider? If so, it's still alive."
Snape was satisfied with the answer: "Hagrid visits his friends in the Forbidden Forest at the end of each month. He just went this month, so you just need to give Aragog a bottle of amnesia potion at the end of next month."
Kane scratched his head: "Is it that simple?" Then he subconsciously reached out his hand.
"Come back in two weeks, because I needed some Octopod venom recently, so my stock has run out," Snape explained.
"Alright then, there's still plenty of time." Kane nodded, not at all bothered by how to feed the potion to Aragog.
After all, now he only needs four more rabbits to make a spirit particle decomposer. Then he can use mandrake to make panpipes that can hypnotize other creatures. He can solve this seemingly difficult problem with just a gentle blow.
"Now it's time to move on to the next task," he said, smiling at Snape. "Professor, I remember you have a few rabbits here for testing medicine, right?"
"It's in the corner, go get it yourself." Snape said, then picked up the tray and went back to the office inside the classroom to study the spider webs, while Kane walked step by step toward the poor little rabbits.
Soon, Kane had five rabbits stuffed into his pocket. Just as he was about to leave, he turned back to Snape and asked, "By the way, Professor, do you know what Hagrid likes?"
Why are you asking that?
Kane covered the two bouncy pockets with both hands and chuckled awkwardly, "I feel a little guilty, but this is just a gift."
"He liked any creature that ordinary people found terrifying or ugly, as long as it could move," Snape said succinctly.
Thank you!
Gryffindor Tower...
Harry and Ron pushed open the door and saw Kane's back. They were about to raise the food they had packed for him when they froze again.
The two looked at the huge machine, shaped like a hat, standing in the corner of the dormitory, and scratched their heads in surprise: "What is this thing?"
Kane turned around, gnawing on a roasted rabbit: "That machine... I call it... the Spirit Particle Decomposer!"
