Chapter 10 Adventurers' Club
Chapter 10 Adventurers' Club
Perhaps because the professors knew that Ryan was there, and because Dumbledore was intentionally grooming him, they slowed down their spellcasting and removed their usual concealment so that Ryan could observe.
"Your turn, Ryan."
The group moved to the next room, and Dumbledore said to Lane, "I've already spoken with several professors; you want to start a club."
The professors all expect you to demonstrate the necessary abilities to ensure the safety of the young wizards. So now is your chance to convince them.
Ryan: "Understood."
He took a deep breath, drew his wand, and knew that what he needed now was his full strength, not to show off his skills.
Under the expectant or scrutinizing gazes of the professors, and under Quirrell's incredulous look, he waved his wand: "Distract the viewer."
A huge, psychedelic ball of light emerged from the tip of his wand, sank into the ground, and bathed the ground in a mesmerizing glow.
"Very powerful magic, profound mastery of spells," Professor Flitwick murmured from behind.
Unseen by the professors, a silver bracelet on Ryan's wrist was continuously supplying him with magic.
This is the only item left behind by Ryan in the Alchemy Relics, which is the external magic device mentioned in the manuscript.
This silver chain, made of five house-elves, is capable of storing and providing magic equivalent to that of an average adult wizard.
And, a House-Elf version of Apparition.
"Cover your eyes and shut your eyes."
The brightness and visibility in the room suddenly decreased.
"Magic Transfiguration, Legilimency."
The original rubble in the room has been transformed into many mirrors, each reflecting a hollow light.
"Beautiful Transfiguration! Ravenclaw deserves fifty points!" Professor McGonagall couldn't hide her excitement. "Lane should study Transfiguration with me."
Professor Flitwick looked up at Professor McGonagall, opened his mouth, but said nothing.
Then Ryan continued to wave his wand, using Summoning Charms and Summoning Charms to command various materials to fall to their respective locations.
Then place the Nightmare Mirror in the center of the room, in the center of countless identical mirrors, which is also the center of the array constructed from the materials.
"Flames are raging."
The demonic fire roared out, igniting various materials one by one and drawing a complex magic circle on the ground. Ryan waved his wand again, and while the solidifying magic circle was in effect, he took out several bottles of the same potions: "Fear potion and illusion potion that I brewed myself."
As the magic potion was incorporated into the solidified array, even before the room began to function, it already sent chills down one's spine, creating an eerie and terrifying atmosphere, as if some great fear was about to unfold.
Smelling the potion scent in the air and feeling the effects of the potion's power flowing into the array, Snape said nothing, but the fact that he didn't utter a word of mockery was a huge affirmation to Ryan.
After a massive burst of flames shot into the sky and then vanished abruptly, Ryan turned around, smiled, and said, "Professors, the project is complete."
Dumbledore started clapping, and the other professors followed suit.
As for Hagrid, he didn't clap; he beat the drum.
"Well done, very well done."
"Lyan, very few people can have such magical proficiency in so many areas at your age. Whether it's spells, transfiguration, or potions, you have already surpassed NEWT's level. If this were an exam, I would definitely give you all the marks."
Dumbledore was generous with his praise.
NEWT is an exam that seventh-year students at Hogwarts can take on their own.
The scores students achieve will determine whether they can obtain some of the highest positions in the magical world, such as Aurors or core members of the Ministry of Magic.
Students who pass the NEWT exam with excellent results generally receive a respectable and high-paying job after graduation.
"I was worried that starting a club might affect your OWL exams in fifth grade, but you successfully convinced me."
OWL, the General Wizarding Exam. Only fifth-year wizards who pass this exam can study courses in higher grades.
Professor McGonagall acknowledged Ryan's magical abilities and extended an invitation: "Interested in joining my Transfiguration Club?"
"Oh, Minerva, Ryan is already a member of my Spell Club," Professor Flitwick finally couldn't hold back.
"It doesn't matter if the timelines are staggered or overlap."
The two professors discussed in hushed tones, seemingly planning to make good use of Ryan.
The remaining professors all acknowledged Lane's abilities, except for Professor Quirrell, who exclaimed that he hadn't expected such a genius to emerge since he left Ravenclaw.
Lane then realized that Quirinas Quirrell was also a Ravenclaw graduate. Perhaps even one of the most outstanding Ravenclaw graduates.
However, judging from Dumbledore's behavior, Quirrell really seems to have a problem.
Otherwise, Dumbledore wouldn't have agreed to have afternoon tea before setting up the checkpoints.
This afternoon tea was intended to encourage Quirrell to share some of his inner thoughts during his leisure time.
Quirrell, however, still clung to a sliver of hope, believing that Dumbledore was merely asking casually and that confessing would lead to a life sentence.
"In that case, no one will object to Ryan forming a club."
"Ryan, you can go to the second floor of the castle and find an empty classroom that is big enough."
Dumbledore said to Lane, "Oh, and by the way, remember to write an application for Minerva."
...............
Professor McGonagall's office.
Professor McGonagall was looking at Ryan's application to establish a club.
"Why is it called the Adventurers' Club?" Professor McGonagall asked curiously.
"Because the club's goal is 'towards the stars and the abyss,' I originally wanted to call it the Adventurers' Guild," Ryan said, suppressing a laugh.
"Stars and abyss?" Professor McGonagall murmured these words, unable to figure out what these things were.
"Actually, it's because I hope that everyone who joins this club can adventure on the frontiers of magic, constantly explore the unknown, and achieve the known."
"The location is an empty classroom at the far east end of the second floor. Here is the key to that classroom." Professor McGonagall approved of Ryan's idea, signed the application form, and handed it to Ryan along with an old brass key.
"Thank you, Professor McGonagall. I'll go get ready right away."
After receiving the items, Ryan went to the empty classroom at the far east end of the second floor and posted Professor McGonagall's signed permission on the door to deal with Filch's inspection.
Filch was the only faculty member who harbored significant hostility towards Lane, and even when Lane tried to please him by buying Mrs. Lorris the finest dried fish, it couldn't diminish Filch's animosity.
Ryan knew the reason; he had seen in intelligence reports that Filch had complained to attendees at an unnamed party about how difficult their life as duds was.
Being a Muggle is unsatisfying, because one has already witnessed the wonders of magic; being a wizard, however, means being unable to cast spells, and one can only watch from the outside of the magic gate and yearn for its wonders.
This is why Filch harbors great hostility towards talented young wizards.
Fortunately, the Weasley brothers, who enrolled two years ago, shared the burden with Ryan and actively attracted Filch's attention.
"I gave them some information, telling them that there was something they needed in Filch's room drawer." Ryan thought of the magical Marauder's Map. To be honest, the map's creation technology and magical methods weren't particularly sophisticated; the main spells were just variations of the Revealing Charm and the Detecting Charm.
The reason this map is so magical is that its creator embedded it into the vast system of Hogwarts Castle, making it a part of the system. Therefore, it can detect in real time all people and things in Hogwarts Castle that are visible and not encrypted.
"This method is astonishing."
Ryan waved his wand to decorate the empty room; he knew of two cases of this technique, one being the Marauder's Map.
The other is a curse that hangs over the Defense Against the Dark Arts (DEA) position.
