Chapter 49: The Doubt of 1
Chapter 49: The Doubt of 1
The moment the black portal was born.
The world as Lucas sees it is changing simultaneously.
He saw the deeper layers of this abyss world.
It was a mysterious forbidden zone shrouded in a black mist from which one could not see their own hand.
An ancient will, irregular in shape and at least thousands of miles in diameter, like a mountain of flesh, stretches across the bottom of a vast and bottomless canyon, its writhing fleshy tumors almost level with the ground.
Countless shadow creatures clung to and roosted atop this massive mountain of flesh—
There are humanoid creatures that are over ten meters tall with deformed and swollen bodies; there are giant flying creatures that resemble bats but are much larger than their counterparts on the surface; there are also giant worm-like creatures whose bodies stretch for thousands of meters and whose bodies are covered with proliferating hard tissues; and there are tubular parasitic communities that are rooted in fleshy surfaces and survive by absorbing nutrients, etc.
Lucas even saw the Chrysanthemum Monster, the Demon Dog, and the Demon Bat... They lived in the smallest area at the top of the Mountain of Flesh.
"choose…"
An ineffable consciousness appeared in Lucas's ear; it was that mountain of flesh.
"Exile...Return..."
The sound came out intermittently, and before Lucas could figure it out, it suddenly fell silent.
At the same time, the scene in Lucas's eyes was once again covered by an endless black fog.
He looked thoughtful.
Clearly, that enormous mountain of flesh was an abyssal consciousness even more terrifying than the Mind Flayer, a more ancient being in this world, and perhaps the true ruler of the abyssal world.
It was this ability that gave it the power to open a passage between reality and the abyss.
However, there seemed to be a terrifying force of confinement surrounding the other party, restricting all their actions, and even brief exchanges of consciousness would be immediately cut off.
However, for Lucas, gaining the recognition of the Abyss World was the most important thing.
As for what that mountain of flesh actually is, it remains unknown. But at the very least, it wouldn't be like the Mind Flayer, bewitching and parasitizing Henry when he was eight years old.
Although Vickner firmly believed that he had voluntarily accepted the darkness, transforming from being passively seduced to actively embracing the mind flayer's will, Lucas did not believe that was truly the case during the recent struggle.
Besides, the mountain of flesh seemed to have fallen into a deep sleep after a brief brainwave communication with him, and no matter how Lucas tried to communicate, it did not respond.
This undoubtedly put him at ease.
Crisis often coexists with opportunity. While not understanding the full story might put him at a disadvantage, abandoning the Abyss, this independent dimensional world, is also impossible.
After thinking about it for a while, Lucas put his mind at ease and walked up to Eleven.
Seeing Lucas slowly walking towards him, Eleven snapped out of his daze and suddenly retreated quickly.
She couldn't understand why the giant spider monster would suddenly transform into a large ball of dark light and surge into the boy's body.
She wasn't sure if Number 01 was behind it all.
After all, she knew the other party's abilities well: telepathy and mind control, which were untouchable and invisible, making them impossible to guard against.
If that's the case, the boy is undoubtedly in great danger right now.
"Don't worry, I'm not being controlled. As for Viktor, he's dead."
Lucas quickly figured out Eleven's unusual behavior and explained.
Finally, he added: "Completely annihilated."
Eleven looked somewhat suspicious, but after waiting for a while, Lucas showed no signs of making a move against her, which put her at ease.
However, she still asked hesitantly, "Is it all over?"
"Yes, it's all over. Vickner has paid the price for his mistakes, and Hawkins will return to its former tranquility. As for now, we can leave."
Upon hearing this, Eleven clenched the hem of her clothes, looking somewhat embarrassed: "But I don't know how to leave from here... I mean, I can't open a passage to the real world from here. This isn't an upside-down world."
Lucas frowned and began to recall.
Eleven was able to throw Viktor into the abyss under strict preconditions, and the passage he opened was a dangerous rift, not a portal, and its existence was very short. Even so, Eleven paid the price of being in a coma for several months and suffering temporary amnesia.
After thinking for a moment, Lucas said, "How about I do it?"
Eleven immediately looked at Lucas with some confusion, but before she could look away, a strange portal, entirely black and over two meters tall, suddenly appeared in front of her without warning.
Before she could react, she felt a suction force appear and forcibly pull her away from there.
Hopkins town, on the outskirts, a cabin in the woods.
Upon waking, Hope was overwhelmed with intense self-blame.
He hated this sense of powerlessness, loathed this despair, and despised the humiliation of watching helplessly as he lost things time and time again.
"I can't protect my daughter, I can't protect the people I love, I will only bring death and destruction."
The strong-willed middle-aged man had bloodshot eyes.
"Perhaps I really don't deserve to live."
Just as Hope was sinking into extreme despair, the air in front of her suddenly began to churn violently, and the next moment, a black door appeared out of thin air in the room.
Eleven and Lucas appeared behind the door.
The sight of it being lost and then found left Hope stunned for two seconds. He instinctively stepped forward and shielded Eleven in front of him.
This time, no one can harm Eleven or take Eleven away unless they step over his dead body.
"I can only say that tonight's events were a misunderstanding," Lucas said calmly, observing Hope's actions.
Without waiting for a response, he turned and stepped into the black door.
The black door vanished instantly.
"Did he hurt you?" Hope finally came to her senses and immediately looked at Eleven with great concern.
"No, don't worry, Hope, I'll be fine."
Shiyi wiped away the tears from the middle-aged man's eyes, feeling his deep care and concern, and said with a smile.
She truly realized that the reason the other party wouldn't let her go out wasn't because they wanted to restrict her like Brenna did, but because they were genuinely worried about something happening to her.
Afterwards, Eleven briefly recounted everything that had happened to Hope.
"Who could it be?"
Hope fell into deep thought after listening.
The other party said they had met before, but why did he have no recollection of it at all?
Even when he tried to recall all the people he had interacted with during this period, he couldn't remember them.
"Damn it, I absolutely can't drink this much again. By the way, did I confess my feelings to Joyce yesterday?"
At this moment, Eleven suddenly realized a very serious problem.
Although the culprit who caused the unrest in the town has been eliminated, the real source remains.
But the source of that land is far beyond anyone's imagination.
If we don't destroy that world, or destroy the passageways to Hawkins' underground laboratory, monsters might still appear in the real world...
Furthermore, she didn't understand why the boy had suddenly acquired the ability to tear apart spatial rifts.
If the other person already knew how to do it, there was absolutely no need for you to lead them into the upside-down world.
If not, when did you learn it? How did you learn it? What exactly happened to the other person in the Abyss World?
I felt my thoughts were very chaotic during the National Day holiday.
She was unable to effectively connect these threads and weave them into useful information.
After all, she was only thirteen years old and had only been away from the laboratory for less than a year.
