Chapter 238: The Circulation Device in the Abyss of Nothingness
Chapter 238: The Circulation Device in the Abyss of Nothingness
The observer's star chart scepter emitted a faint blue light in this void, and his expression grew increasingly solemn: "The Void Avatar is guiding us, leading us toward its core source of power."
“This place is even worse than I expected.” Kane clenched his fists. The surrounding void energy greatly interfered with his fire power, and he could hardly even fully control his own abilities.
“It’s more than just bad.” Sophia used a frost barrier to defend against the surrounding erosion, her tone calm but full of vigilance. “The void energy here is devouring our power of rules. We cannot stay here any longer.”
“Then let’s find its core quickly.” The golden light on Lysa’s spear flickered slightly, his eyes unwavering. “We don’t have time to waste.”
The guardians continued onward, and a colossal mechanical structure came into view. It was a cyclical device woven from the interplay of rules and void energy, its size almost encompassing the entire Void Abyss. At its core was a massive, dark red vortex, from which countless energy channels drew in the power of the rules, transforming it into even more potent void energy.
The observer stared intently at the device, his voice low and complex: "This is... the source of the power of the Void Avatar. It uses this device to forcibly convert the energy of the cosmic rules into Void energy in order to maintain the expansion of the rift and its own existence."
“No wonder it’s so hard to destroy,” Sophia said coldly. “As long as this device is still running, its power is inexhaustible.”
The Arbiter gripped his twin blades, his eyes burning with rage: "Then what are we waiting for? Destroy it!"
The observer frowned: "Things aren't as simple as you think. Forcibly destroying this device could trigger a chain reaction of uncontrolled energy, potentially even destroying the entire universe."
"You mean we should just watch it continue operating?" the Arbiter sneered. "Does your star chart have any way to stop it?"
“Perhaps.” The observer took a deep breath and scanned the device’s operation with the Star Chart Scepter. “If we interfere with its energy cycle using the power of the Star Chart’s rules, we might be able to stop it from operating. But this would consume a lot of rule energy and might even prevent the Star Chart from continuing to provide us with defense.”
"So you're saying we're going to risk being completely swallowed by the void energy to 'interfere' with it?" The Arbiter's tone grew increasingly impatient. "That's a stupid method! We might as well just shatter it."
“If we shatter it, this energy will spiral out of control. Do you want the entire universe to perish with it?” The Observer’s voice was calm, yet tinged with anger. “We cannot solve problems recklessly.”
Kane scoffed: "If the star map is really that powerful, then go ahead and interfere. We'll wait and see."
Sofia spoke coldly: "Your argument is pointless. The observer's approach may be dangerous, but the arbitrator's suggestion will only make things worse. We need a more prudent solution."
Lysa gripped his spear tightly, coldly surveying the crowd: "No matter what method we use, we must solve this device. Continuing to argue will only give the Void Avatar more opportunities to exploit."
The Arbiter glared at the Observer, then swung his twin blades, slashing fiercely at one of the device's energy pipes. The pipe snapped as flames erupted, but even more ethereal energy surged from the break, instantly knocking the Arbiter back.
“I just said it!” The Observer supported the Arbiter, his tone tinged with impatience. “Destroying it will only make things worse.”
"Then you'd better get moving!" the adjudicator roared angrily.
The observer closed his eyes and used the Star Chart Scepter to connect to the device's energy cycle. His face grew increasingly pale as the device's ethereal energy backfired on his power of rules.
"The star map needs more energy!" the Observer shouted. "Leza, use your spear to channel the power of the rules and concentrate it at the core of the device."
"Understood!" Lysa raised her spear high, golden light gathering at its tip. She poured all her power into the area around the device's core, buying time for the star map's interference.
Sophia temporarily sealed off the void energy with a frost barrier, while Kane weakened the energy's backlash with fire. The Arbiter, though unwilling, also joined the effort to protect the star map.
As the power of the star map gradually permeated the device's cyclic structure, the device's operation began to slow down, and the void energy in those energy channels was no longer as active as before.
"It worked?" Kane asked, his eyes wide.
“Not yet,” the observer said, panting. “We must maintain this state until the device completely stops operating.”
Just as the device was about to stop operating, the roar of the Void Avatar suddenly echoed throughout the space: "Foolish resistance! Rules can never defeat Void!"
Countless tentacles surged from the abyss of nothingness, frantically attacking the guardians in an attempt to stop their actions.
"Protect the Observer!" Lysa commanded, using his spear to block the first wave of tentacles. Sophia's frost barrier quickly covered the surroundings, buying time for everyone.
The Arbiter rushed forward, severing the tentacles with his twin blades, but each swing drained his strength rapidly. Kane's flames could suppress some of the tentacles, but they couldn't completely eliminate them.
"Hold on!" The observer gritted his teeth and continued to channel the power of the star map into the device. "The device is about to stop completely!"
Thanks to the guardians' strenuous efforts, the device's cyclical structure finally came to a complete halt. The dark red vortex gradually dissipated, and the expansion of the cracks temporarily stopped.
However, the instant the device stopped, the entire Abyss of Nothingness began to tremble violently. Large amounts of void energy leaked from the device's wreckage, and the surrounding space became increasingly unstable.
"Damn it! The device stopped, but it left behind an energy vacuum!" The observer looked around, a hint of despair in his eyes. "The balance of the rift has been broken!"
"So what should we do now?" Sophia asked coldly.
“There is only one way,” the observer took a deep breath, “to enter the very core of the rift and completely destroy the true form of the Void Avatar.”
After the core of the device stopped operating, the dark red vortex gradually dissipated, and the expansion of the crack area finally stopped temporarily. The surging void energy around them seemed to be suppressed by some force, becoming slow and sluggish.
The guardians supported each other, barely managing to stand firm in the abyss, their faces showing exhaustion. Lysa gasped for breath, her spear trembling slightly, her golden light dimming considerably. Kane gathered flames in his hands, providing a faint light for the group.
