Chapter 159: The Price of Balance
Chapter 159: The Price of Balance
As Isaac ventured deeper into the core of chaos, he felt an unprecedented sense of oppression. Each step felt like walking on invisible shackles, pressing down on his heart and making it pound violently. Countless twisted runes floated in the surrounding void, surging towards him like a tide, each rune carrying an indescribable aura of power that made it almost impossible for him to breathe.
"The offspring of destiny has finally come before me." A deep, hollow voice echoed in the void, carrying boundless pressure and reverberating throughout the space. There was no anger or emotion in the voice, only an irresistible coldness.
"Who are you?" Isaac's gaze was icy. The surrounding chaotic aura made him feel immense pressure, but he still did not back down. He took a deep breath and continuously guided his soul power into the surroundings, gradually condensing it into a golden pillar of light, attempting to suppress the power of chaos.
"I am the origin of chaos." The voice rang out again, carrying an invisible, powerful pull that seemed to cause Isaac's consciousness to begin to waver. "Like all life, you are a product of the web of fate, destined to find a balance between order and chaos. Yet you chose to try to change all of this, to try to break the opposition between fate and chaos. Do you really think you can succeed?"
Isaac remained silent for a moment. He felt the oppressive force of that will not directly assault him, but rather permeated the entire space, like an invisible cage. He calmly replied, "The opposition between fate and chaos is not inherently immutable; they can find a new balance. If the origin of chaos is truly just endless devouring and destruction, then true rebirth can never be achieved."
"Oh?" The voice of the Chaos Origin carried a hint of mockery. "You think you can do that? You think the balance between fate and chaos is just something you talk about? I will show you that the price of breaking the existing order is unbearable."
As the words fell, the entire space began to tremble violently, and the surrounding runes surged towards Isaac like a tidal wave. That invisible force was like a giant hand, trying to crush him. Isaac did not back down; instead, he suddenly unleashed his soul power, and golden pillars of light collided fiercely with the chaotic runes in the air, erupting in a deafening roar.
"You wish to break the shackles of fate and chaos, but the price is yourself." The voice of the source of chaos was filled with endless indifference and determination. "You cannot bear the true cost of balance."
“I don’t need to run away from the consequences,” Isaac said softly, a resolute light shining in his eyes. He knew that he had come this far no longer to escape, but to truly change the fate of this universe. He was willing to bear the price of balance, no matter what.
Isaac's soul power surged once more. This time, instead of confronting the runes head-on, he began to try to communicate with the surrounding chaotic energy. He attempted to make the runes sense his intentions, to perceive the balance he sought to achieve. At this moment, Isaac's consciousness became extremely clear. He completely let down his guard and merged into the flow of chaos.
"What exactly are you doing?" The voice of the Chaos Origin grew increasingly heavy. "Are you compromising?"
“It’s not a compromise, it’s a choice,” Isaac responded calmly, his voice carrying an unprecedented strength. “If fate and chaos are inherently opposed, then let them find a way to coexist within this opposition. The rules of fate are no longer mere constraints, but rather provide a framework for chaos to move freely; the power of chaos is no longer chaotic destruction, but rather gives the rules of fate a more flexible life.”
As he finished speaking, the chaotic runes in space suddenly changed. They no longer rushed directly at Isaac, but began to revolve around him, slowly changing direction. The changes in these runes were subtle and complex, but Isaac sensed their intention. The power of the primordial chaos was no longer a simple repulsion, but began to resonate with Isaac's soul power.
However, just as Isaac thought he had successfully established a connection with the origin of chaos, a deep roar suddenly echoed through the space. The sound carried a devastating pressure, as if the entire universe was trembling. Immediately afterward, an even more violent force surged from the depths of the chaotic core, rushing towards Isaac.
"Do you think you can change everything?" The voice of the Chaos Origin was filled with undeniable rage. "Your power is ultimately just a product of fate; you cannot cross the chasm between fate and chaos!"
Isaac's body was violently thrown back by that force, his soul power almost completely devoured, and a sharp pain shot through his chest. His consciousness began to blur, as if he were sinking into endless darkness. But at that moment, he suddenly remembered his vow and why he had come here.
“I chose this path not to fight, but to find true balance in the universe,” Isaac said softly, his voice weak but filled with determination.
He once again gathered his soul power, but this time, he did not rely on the rules of fate. Instead, he allowed his soul to completely merge with the power of chaos. Golden light intertwined with the darkness of chaos, forming a dazzling beam of light that shot straight into the depths of the core of chaos.
"boom--"
A deafening explosion rang out as Isaac's beam finally broke through the immense resistance of the Chaos Source, plunging directly into the core's depths. With the beam's eruption, the entire space within the Chaos Core trembled violently, runes and fragments scattering in all directions, as if the entire core itself was shaking from the impact of this force.
However, just when Isaac thought he had successfully broken through, an even more powerful force suddenly came from the depths of his core. That force seemed to have endless devouring power, drawing everything into the dark abyss.
"You have failed, descendant of fate." The voice of the origin of chaos rang out again, but this time, its tone carried an undisguised weariness. "You thought you could break the laws of fate and chaos, but in reality, your very existence is the contradiction between the two."
Isaac's body was thrown back again, but this time, he did not give up. He knew that true balance was not about forcibly breaking it, but about finding the power of fusion in opposition. His soul intertwined more deeply with the power of chaos, and golden and dark radiance converged within him, ultimately forming a new energy that spread throughout the entire core of chaos.
“I’m not trying to break you, but to put you alongside destiny.” Isaac’s voice grew firmer. “Only through the fusion of these two can the universe achieve true balance.”
