Chapter 129 Ron Becomes the King of Scrolls, Dallis Sets a Contract!
Chapter 129 Ron Becomes the King of Scrolls, Dallis Sets a Contract!
The first week of school, Friday, at dawn.
Dudley and Harry returned to the Gryffindor common room, the first-year boys' dormitory.
That night, Dudley finished modifying Ron's wand, and Harry also mastered the basics of Occlumency. With a few more days of practice, blocking Ecclesia's silent detection wouldn't be a problem.
The two returned to their dormitory and were about to go back to their respective beds to catch up on sleep using calming mantras.
Unexpectedly, Ron, sporting panda eyes, got out of bed and ran up to Dudley.
Dudley was taken aback, because he noticed that although Ron's eyelids and eye bags were bruised and dark, his eyes were bright and wide open.
"Dullie, no, Dursley teaching assistant, help me become stronger! I want to be the student council president, and I want to be the captain of the Quidditch team! I want to earn lots and lots of Galleons! I want my family to be proud of me! I want everyone to look at me with admiration!"
Ron stared with bloodshot eyes, his face full of expectation, gripping Dudley's hand tightly and shaking it back and forth, as if he were possessed.
"Calm down!" x2
Dudley and Harry perfectly coordinated to cast a calming spell on Ron, whose appearance was anything but normal!
After being hit by two calming spells, Ron's expression became somewhat more peaceful.
Dali immediately asked a question:
"Ron, are you possessed? Or cursed? Didn't you go for a night stroll with Hermione last night? Did you encounter anything unclean?"
"No! Dudley! It's not something unclean! It's a good thing! That mirror showed me the goal I've never been able to see before! From now on, I will work hard like you, Hermione, and Harry, and strive to become stronger!"
After returning from his nighttime outing last night, Ron lay in bed, too excited to sleep, waiting for Dudley and Harry to return.
Even though magic has calmed my emotions and mind, my thoughts remain unchanged, as if I've been injected with adrenaline.
"A good thing? A mirror? Could it be the Mirror of Erised? Dumbledore is really unreliable! He didn't even set up the scheme, and he didn't even know how to properly store his things! But... this thing might actually be of some use!"
Dudley, combining his understanding of the original story, analyzed some of the truth from Ron's words.
The Mirror of Erised does not reflect a person's appearance, but rather the desires within their heart.
People with weak willpower can become hopelessly addicted to the illusions created by the magic mirror, wanting to look in the mirror again and again, day and night, until they go mad.
But judging from Ron's performance, that shouldn't be the case.
It was more like they were stimulated by the illusion in the magic mirror, which ignited their fighting spirit.
This may be a good thing.
"Are you really going to become stronger? Or are you just saying it and then forget about it in a couple of days?"
Dudley looked Ron up and down, still unable to fully believe that a salted fish could be transformed overnight by looking in a mirror, becoming a spirited carp vying for the dragon gate.
Ron gave him a look that said, "You think I'm beneath you," his expression filled with a stubborn refusal to admit defeat: "Daddy, believe me! I'll go to the library with you guys this afternoon, and this time, I promise I'll study hard!"
After hearing what Ron had said, Dudley pondered the matter and, considering Ron's unfortunate circumstances, made a decision:
"Alright! I believe you! Let's make a magic contract!"
From now on, I will help you become stronger, pay you a salary, and even help your family become rich. However, you have to do things for me.
When you're asked to work, you can't pretend to be weak or complain about being tired; when you're asked to study or train, you can't be lazy or try to shirk your duties; when you're asked to fight, you must forge ahead bravely.
If you disobey, you will be covered in sores and pus, lose your appetite every day, and vomit a hundred snotty worms!
As Dudley spoke, he stretched out his finger and traced a string of crimson words in the air, seemingly writing a 'magical contract' that looked both dangerous and alluring.
Ron, full of fighting spirit, was delighted when he read the first half of the contract, praising Dudley as a kind and honest man. But when he saw the consequences of breach of contract, he couldn't help but swallow hard, feeling a little fear.
"Um, Dudley, aren't the consequences a bit..."
"If you don't want to, fine. I don't want to bother with this! My time is extremely valuable. You don't seem to have any talent or perseverance. This investment is likely to lose money. You should just do whatever you want!"
Dudley, with an air of utter contempt, glanced at Ron twice before turning to go to bed for a nap.
"No, no, no! Please! I'll sign! I'll sign this magic contract!"
Spurred on by Dudley's words, and with the boost to his morale from the Magic Mirror and Hermione the night before, Ron made a rash decision in a moment of impulsiveness, gritting his teeth and stamping his foot.
"This was your own decision, no one forced you! Don't blame me for not warning you beforehand, it'll be too late for you to regret it later! The contract can't be broken!"
Dudley then threatened Ron a couple more times.
It was only then that the expression on Ron's face brought back a sense of familiarity for him. Heaven knows how shocking it was for him to see Ron, who had become the King of Hot Blood, so early in the morning.
Looking at the conflicted expression on Ron's face, Dudley felt a mischievous sense of satisfaction at having pulled off a prank.
That's awesome! That's so awesome!
"I've made up my mind, Dudley! I won't regret it! How should I sign this contract?"
At this moment, Ron's eyes were as determined as they were a second before he put the roasted chicken leg into his mouth.
Dudley realized that Ron was serious this time, so he straightened his expression and prompted, "Just put your hand on it!"
Ron solemnly stretched out his little hand and pressed it onto the red characters written by Dudley in mid-air.
With a thought, Dali directly controlled the marking spell he had just cast to quickly dissipate.
In Ron's eyes, it was as if the contract turned into a red dot of light and took effect the moment he released his hand.
In reality, this so-called magical contract was just a marking spell that Dudley concocted to scare Ron; it had no effect whatsoever and was purely a special effect.
Ron, however, believed him and eagerly asked, "Dali, how are you going to train me? How will you make me stronger? What are we going to do now?"
Dudley waved for Harry to go to sleep, then looked at the excited Ron and gave him a knowing smile.
"What should we do now? Of course... collapse and faint!"
Dudley raised his hand and cast a sleeping spell, forcibly sending Ron into a dream.
With those two huge dark circles under my eyes, I still want to get stronger? If I don't catch up on my sleep soon, I'll have to figure out how to get through those two consecutive potions classes this morning!
Dudley reached out and grabbed Ron's small frame, using a clever trick to throw Ron onto his own bed.
Then he took out Ron's old wand, which had been modified the night before and was indistinguishable from its original form, and placed it by Ron's bedside.
Dudley then cast a 'Peaceful Guard' spell on the dormitory space and turned to leave the Gryffindor common room.
Ten minutes later, guided by his Hogwarts supernatural consciousness, he arrived at the fifth floor of the castle and entered the abandoned classroom that Hermione and Ron had visited the previous night.
I saw the Mirror of Erised propped up against the wall.
