Chapter 378 Commodity Trading
As night deepened, a bright moon hung in the night sky, casting a silvery glow upon the world.
Tang Zijun's house gradually quieted down. Perhaps it was because they had played too much during the holiday, or perhaps it was because of the high daily energy expenditure (Tang Cao was acting as a human air conditioner all day long), but the girls had been going to bed very early these past few days.
Although they still usually stay up until one or two in the morning, for Tang Cao and Su Siyao, being able to fall asleep at that time is considered early to bed.
In the quiet environment, only the sound of breathing could be heard. Occasionally, footsteps could be heard outside the window, accompanied by flashes of light. These were the Night Patrol officers from the Magic Bureau, who would conduct fixed patrols at night.
After a long period of training and selection, the Demon Supervision Bureau has expanded its manpower again. There's no other way; the one thing Tokyo University has in abundance is people.
The current Magic Supervision Bureau has become a powerful department in the country that cannot be underestimated. Moreover, it is a high-level department that has stepped into the limelight and is stationed at the grassroots level, giving people a feeling of being high-end yet down-to-earth.
After expanding the organizational structure, the most obvious change is the significant increase in the number of night patrol agents. The patrols have shifted from driving to fixed-point foot patrols. This change not only allows for better observation of residential areas but also enables real-time monitoring of the increase in negative energy between cities.
In the dark room, amidst flickering light and shadow, Tang Zijun's figure slowly emerged from the living room television screen.
To avoid waking the girls who were resting, Tang Zijun tried to be as quiet as possible. Just as he was about to go to the guest room, he turned his head and saw Katie sitting on the sofa staring at him blankly.
In the dead of night, a girl sitting quietly in the dimly lit room looked like a porcelain doll. She had no heartbeat and wasn't even breathing. This eerie scene startled even Tang Zijun.
After a pause, Tang Zijun patted her chest.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm waiting for dawn."
"Wait until dawn?"
"Mmm," Katie replied sweetly. "My sister said they'll wake up when it's light, so I'm waiting for the sun to rise."
"And you're just going to sit on the sofa all night?" Tang Zijun's lips twitched.
"Is this not allowed?" Katie asked, somewhat alarmed.
"No, no, no." Tang Zijun quickly waved her hand, then said softly, "It's just... most people wouldn't do that, and I'm afraid you'd find it boring."
"I don't find it boring at all," Katie said calmly. "In fact, I find it quite interesting. The orderly flow of energy here gives me a sense of peace..."
Tang Zijun opened her mouth, but for a moment she didn't know what to say.
Katie tilted her head and asked softly, "Brother, did you need something? Or are you getting ready for bed too? Sister Qin Nan said you have work to do and won't be back tonight."
"Oh, I do need your help with something."
"What is it?"
Upon hearing this, Katie immediately stood up, her eyes shining.
She seemed to really enjoy feeling needed.
Tang Zijun pulled her to sit down again. "Do you remember the world we visited before?"
Hearing Tang Zijun's words, Katie recalled for a moment, then nodded. "I remember, the energy there was very chaotic, and many places were filled with a repulsive aura."
"I made a deal with the people there, a very important deal, but I can't move that many supplies, so I'll have to trouble you to make the trip."
"It's no trouble at all. I'm willing to do anything as long as I can be with my brother."
Seeing Katie's serious expression, Tang Zijun couldn't help but reach out and ruffle her hair. "Are you really not afraid I'll sell you off?"
"Even if my brother sells me, I will find a way to get back to him." Katie blinked.
"You..." Tang Zijun chuckled softly, then said, "Get ready to leave. You go find Lao Chang first; he's already waiting in the warehouse prepared at the bureau. I'll go to that world ahead of time to wait for you."
Although Katie had been to the dream world before, the distance between dimensions cannot be "mapped" in one trip. To find that world again, Katie still needs to use her connection with Tang Zijun as a guide.
Therefore, Tang Zijun's plan to personally descend into the dream world ended before it even began.
Watching Katie disappear in a ray of golden light, Tang Zijun grabbed a cushion from the sofa and lay down in a comfortable position.
After a while, his breathing became calm and regular, and the room fell silent again. Throughout the entire conversation between him and Katie, they hadn't woken anyone.
Only Xiaobai's ears twitched, but she didn't open her eyes. Instead, she turned over and continued sleeping.
When I opened my eyes again, my narrow field of vision suddenly felt much wider.
The high walls of Black City stood not far away, and Tang Zijun could clearly see several mercenaries waving at her from the walls. They had obviously seen and recognized her.
Just as Tang Zijun was about to raise his hand to respond to them, a familiar "putt-putt" sound came from afar. Then, the city gate slowly opened a crack, and a silver light quickly squeezed out from the crack, rushing straight towards him.
With a graceful drift, Langya came to a sudden stop beside Tang Zijun, while Grelando nimbly flipped off Langya.
Judging from her smooth movements, she really does look a bit like a female rider.
"It seems you and Langya get along quite well." Tang Zijun gently stroked the front of Langya's car, then smiled at Grelando.
"Lord Langya took good care of me. He knew I wasn't skilled enough, so he practiced with me all night to teach me how to maintain my balance." Grelando's tone was somewhat excited, clearly still in a state of excitement.
Like her, the Langya next to her had stopped, but its engine was still roaring in a low rumble, as if it was also quite excited.
Tang Zijun smiled without saying anything. Although he might not know much about Grelando, he knew Langya very well. This guy wasn't just "taking care" of her; he was going crazy from being cooped up in the Reversed World. Now that he could race across the wilderness of another world, he couldn't be happier.
"Oh, right." Tang Zijun suddenly remembered something, and her smile faded slightly. "Nothing happened after you came back last time, right?"
Upon hearing this, Gloria quickly realized what Tang Zijun was referring to. "It's nothing. I only remember opening my eyes and being back in the tent. Then Lady Hyacinth came over, and I learned that you were also safe and sound. She checked me over and found nothing unusual."
"It's good that you're alright." Tang Zijun nodded slightly and continued, "But you need to get more rest. Although what happened last time didn't pose any real threat to you, it still had a significant impact on your mental well-being."
"Yes, I'll listen to you," Gloriand replied earnestly, then paused, asking tentatively, "But... what exactly happened last time?"
"About that incident last time..." Tang Zijun hesitated for a moment. It wasn't that he wanted to hide it, but it was easy to explain to Lao Chang. However, he really didn't know how to describe it to Gloriand, who knew nothing about science.
After a pause, Tang Zijun spoke. "You can think of it as our brains receiving some kind of information and displaying it in a very realistic way, even to the point of deceiving our senses."
"Mental pollution!?" Grilando's mouth dropped open.
"I mean, it's not that serious..." Tang Zijun shrugged. "It's just a piece of information, it's harmless, after all, you haven't gone crazy, right?"
"That's true, I was overthinking it. If it were mental pollution, I probably wouldn't have opened my eyes to see parchment on the table, but rather corpses scattered all over the floor, and a scimitar stained with blood on my hand..."
Upon hearing this, Grilando breathed a sigh of relief, but there was still a hint of lingering fear in her eyes.
However, her words made Tang Zijun glance at her slightly. It seemed that the spiritual pollution in this world was more outrageous than she had imagined. If it was according to Grelando's description, it was probably not spiritual pollution, but possession by an evil god.
"Alright, let's not think about that now. You can come with me. Let's tell the brothers in the group that we'll probably have to stay on the front lines in the river area tonight."
"You've already prepared the supplies?" Grilando asked, somewhat surprised.
That much food was an astronomical amount for her. She thought Tang Zijun would take several months to prepare it, but he had already finished it in just a few days.
But then I thought about it again. A titled knight who carries fairies with him and possesses some kind of god-like creation (referring to Katie), such a being should have no shortage of food.
Tang Zijun had no idea what Gloriand was thinking; he simply nodded. "I deliberately took a little extra. Leave some in Black City later, and I'll take the rest to Black City to trade..."
As they were talking, the ground trembled slightly, and a thunderous roar could be faintly heard from the distant horizon.
Hearing that familiar voice and feeling the increasingly clear connection, Tang Zijun turned her head to look in the direction from which the voice came.
"You really do arrive just as soon as you say you'll."
