Chapter 84 Removing the Fuel
Chapter 84 Removing the Fuel
It was Du Heng's group that "invited" Professor William Finch.
Upon receiving the message that the guests were ready, the deliveryman immediately set out, pushing an electric stair climber into the building, with a large cardboard box on the pallet.
The Foreign Languages Institute's office building is quite old and doesn't have an elevator. The deliveryman went up the stairs on the east side of the building to the third floor and arrived at Professor Finch's office.
The people in the office opened the door, and the deliveryman pushed the stair climber inside, pulling back the cardboard in front of the box to reveal the metal frame and a specially made wheelchair. The inside of the opened cardboard panel was a steel plate, which, when placed on the ground, formed a small ramp.
The deliveryman pulled out the wheelchair, and two escorts lifted Professor Finch onto it and secured him with restraints.
The wheelchair was pushed back into the cardboard box, secured to the internal frame, and the front "cardboard" was closed, so that nothing seemed amiss from the outside.
The deliveryman then pushed the stair climber away, while the two inviters finished up in the office, installing three miniature cameras and two listening devices in a hidden location.
It was already past 6 p.m., and there were very few people in the office building. The deliveryman pushed the stair climber out of the building, and only encountered one student carrying documents upstairs during the entire process.
But this also made him a little nervous; his heart was beating even faster than when he was staking out a suspect and encountered his target. As a result, the student briefly stepped aside in a corner of the rest platform, then strode upstairs without even glancing at the cardboard boxes on the stair climber.
After pushing the stair climber into the waiting van on the side of the building, the deliveryman couldn't help but let out a soft sigh of relief. He had finally experienced what it felt like to have a guilty conscience.
Du Heng watched from inside the command vehicle as the personnel emerged one by one, and then issued the evacuation order. The three vehicles followed each other as they drove away from the school, with the van carrying the guests in the middle, heading towards the brigade's dedicated medical monitoring center.

July 3, Wednesday, 18:25.
Yuecheng University of Science and Technology, Condensed Matter Physics Laboratory.
Professor Evan Finch finished his work for the day and walked back to his residence.
As a key scientific and technological talent recruited by the university, he was allocated a high-standard apartment. The apartment is located in the faculty and staff residential area on the east side of the campus, about a 20-minute walk from the laboratory, which is not a short distance.
Since moving into that apartment, Professor Finch had always walked to and from it. He liked to ponder things while walking, so he always walked alone. His colleagues and students knew about this quirk of his, so no one bothered him.
Around 8 PM, Professor Finch entered the apartment. Shortly after, the elevator came down, and a young girl emerged, carrying a very pleasant fragrance.
Professor Finch entered the elevator and noticed that the same fragrance still lingered inside. He couldn't help but take a deep breath.
He pressed the button for the 18th floor, still wondering what kind of perfume it smelled like.
The elevator stopped on the 18th floor, and two men got in and helped Professor Finch, who was slumped against the corner of the elevator, to his feet. Without being manually operated, the elevator closed its doors and descended to the parking garage on the second basement level.
People waiting for the elevator on some floors found it a little strange, but didn't pay much attention. While it's not common for elevators to be full, it's a normal phenomenon.

July 3, Wednesday, 20:52.
Professor Lucas Finch finished his banquet for the day and was dropped off at the hotel by his friend. While waiting for his designated driver, they inevitably chatted for a while longer.
Although his academic achievements were not outstanding, he had many friends. This was because he could help his friends build foreign trade channels, making money for them and for himself as well. With this ability, it's natural to have many friends.
Having worked in this country for seven or eight years, many of his habits have gradually changed, especially in terms of food. It's just that Country B really doesn't have much to offer in terms of cuisine, which is hard to avoid.
Furthermore, Professor Finch also became familiar with the local drinking culture through social interactions. He even learned rock-paper-scissors and circling games, which made it easier for his business associates to connect with him.
Not long after, he arrived on an electric scooter.
Professor Finch waved goodbye to his friends, walked to the car, opened the door, and handed the remote key to the lean, cheetah-like charioteer. He had drunk quite a bit that day and specifically instructed the charioteer to drive carefully before getting into the back seat.
The designated driver put the folding electric scooter into the trunk and closed the tailgate.
Professor Finch felt increasingly dizzy. He reached out and pressed the button on the electric window to open it, but there was no response after pressing it twice. It turned out that the car was not powered on.
Seeing the designated driver outside the car taking pictures of the vehicle with his phone, I figured I'd be getting in soon, so I closed my eyes and waited.
The designated driver circled the car twice to confirm that Lucas Finch had collapsed, then used the remote key to open all the windows, let it air out for a while, and then got back in and started the car.
"Much different, isn't it?" Wei Hongbo, wearing a designated driver vest, walked over and asked.
Sitting in the driver's seat, Zhang Shengyong flashed the instrument panel in his hand at Wei Hongbo: "We can go now." He then closed the car window.
Wei Hongbo sat in the back seat, took out a disposable syringe from his vest, and gave Professor Finch a shot in the back of the neck.
After watching him finish the injection, Zhang Shengyong drove onto the highway and headed towards the brigade's dedicated medical monitoring center.
He chuckled and said, "Our group is really saving us trouble; we don't even need to prepare a car."
Wei Hongbo said, "Don't be too happy yet. If we make a mistake, we'll have to bring the person back."
Zhang Shengyong said dismissively, "Judging from his appearance, he must be drunk often. We'll just dump him at his place, what would he know? Besides, I think even if this guy isn't involved in this case, he definitely has other problems."
Wei Hongbo asked, "Do you have any evidence?"
Zhang Shengyong said, "We don't have any evidence right now!"
Wei Hongbo snorted: "How can that be the same?"
The execution plan for this "hand-chopping operation" was indeed different from all the cases they had investigated before. Director Liang's decision to make such a decision was quite bold, and the execution team couldn't help but feel a little nervous for him.
In fact, Zhang Shengyong's words largely represent the thoughts of some of the police officers involved in the operation. If the person "invited" had no connection with the Light Guidance Association, then if there were problems in other aspects, it couldn't be considered a wrongful arrest.
But Wei Hongbo knew that the two were completely different in nature, and there was no such thing as a safety net in this matter.
After driving for about ten minutes, Wei Hongsi received a call from Yu Zhen: "Go to the underground parking lot of the Red Leaf Hotel immediately, transfer the person to our car, and then drive Lucas Finch's car to the residence he has located."
