Chapter 98 Loki's Cooperation
Chapter 98 Loki's Cooperation
Thor gripped Mjolnir and hesitated. His instincts told him he should stay and fight, but the power of the Mind Stone forced him to obey Shendu's orders.
"Be careful," Thor said, then turned and walked into the vault.
Malekith watched Thor's figure disappear through the gates of the vault, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes. Why would Thor obey the orders of this man before him? Odin's son, the king of Asgard, why would he be so obedient to an unknown reinforcement?
However, he didn't have time to think about this problem now; Saint took the initiative.
The Holy Lord's figure left a blur in the corridor; the power of the Rabbit Talisman made him so fast that the naked eye could not catch it.
Malekith's pupils contracted, and he instinctively raised the Dark Matter Sword in front of him. The Holy Lord's fist slammed into the sword, producing a huge hum. Malekith felt a tremendous force coming from the sword, and his body flew backward uncontrollably, crashing into the wall of the corridor.
The runes on the wall flashed violently, ejecting Malekith, who was embedded in the wall.
Malekith lay on the ground, black blood continuously flowing from the corner of his mouth. He looked up at the Holy Lord, trying to hide the shock in his eyes: "You, what is this, what kind of power do you have?"
The Holy Lord did not answer, but raised his hand, and the stones on both sides of the corridor floated in mid-air.
The Holy Lord's voice remained calm: "Want to keep spouting nonsense?"
With a wave of his hand, the floating stone, empowered by the Rabbit Talisman, hurtled towards Malekith on the ground like a cannonball.
Malekith gritted his teeth, drawing an arc in front of him with his dark matter sword. The energy of the Black God emanated from the sword, forming a semi-circular shield in front of him, barely blocking the attack.
Malekith, panting heavily, his eyes flashing with a crazed light, said, "You are indeed very strong."
Malekith stood up, the cracks in his dark matter sword wound slowly healing: "But do you think you can stop me like this? The ether is behind that door; I can feel it."
Malekith raised his hand, black energy condensing in his palm: "The celestial convergence is about to be completed, and the power of the aether particle is about to reach its peak. Once I obtain it, the entire universe will be plunged into darkness. Your flames, your power, your speed are utterly insignificant in the face of the aether particle."
The Holy Lord looked at Malekith, his eyes devoid of any emotion: "Have you finished speaking?"
Malekith was taken aback.
The Holy Lord raised his hand, and blazing flames once again coalesced in his palm: "Now that you've finished speaking, it's my turn."
Two beams of light shot from Shendu's eyes toward Malekith. This was the first time Shendu had used the power of the Pig Talisman since retrieving it. The beams were much faster than flames, and Malekith had no time to dodge, so he could only raise his Dark Matter Sword to block them.
The beam of light struck the dark matter sword without making a sound. The dark matter sword melted under the beam of light, and black liquid continuously leaked from the sword into the ground, corroding holes in the ground.
Malekith screamed as the sword in his hand completely turned into a pool of black liquid. The beam of light did not stop and continued to shoot towards his chest.
Just as the beam of light was about to strike Malekith, a black figure suddenly appeared in front of Malekith—it was the Dark Elf general.
The beam struck the dark elf in the chest, burning a fist-sized hole in his body. The general didn't even have time to scream before collapsing to the ground, black blood spreading from his chest onto the ground.
"General!" Malekith shouted, his eyes wide.
This general had been by his side for thousands of years, and now this loyal subordinate had shielded him from this fatal blow.
Malekith looked up at the Holy Lord, the fear in his eyes completely gone, replaced by a tangible rage: "You will pay for this!"
The Holy Lord's expression remained unchanged; the death of another ant did not affect him emotionally. "You have a very loyal subordinate who saved your life, but what are you going to do now?"
Malekith was panting heavily, black energy swirling around him. He knew very well that he was no match for the Holy Lord, but he was unwilling to die like this.
He has waited thousands of years for this day.
"Malikis!"
A voice came from the end of the corridor. Malekith turned his head and saw a man in a green robe leaning against a pillar, playing with a dagger in his hand, with a signature enigmatic smile on his face.
"You seem to be in a bit of trouble," Loki said sarcastically. "Need any help?"
Malekith looked at Loki warily. He knew the name of this god of mischief, a god known for lies and betrayal, and not someone to be trusted.
"What do you want to do?" Malekith asked.
Loki shrugged. "Don't be so wary. I just want to make a deal with you."
The Holy Lord frowned slightly, his tone carrying a hint of warning: "Loki."
Loki walked up to Malekith and looked him up and down. "Don't be nervous. I just think there might be a possibility of cooperation between us."
Malekith's wariness remained: "What deal?"
Loki smiled when he saw that Malekith was willing to listen to him: "You want the Aether, and I want the throne of Asgard. Our goals don't conflict; in fact, they're somewhat aligned. How about it? Want to consider it?"
Malekith was silent for a moment, then suddenly sneered: "You think I would believe the words of the god of trickery?"
Loki sheathed his dagger: "You can choose not to believe me, but you're in a bad situation right now. It's obvious you're no match for the Holy Lord. If you don't accept my cooperation, you won't be leaving this corridor today."
Malekith's face darkened. "What do you want to do?"
Loki leaned close to Malekith's ear and whispered, "It's simple. I'll help you open the vault and get the Aether. In exchange, you have to help us kill Odin."
Malekith paused for a moment, then let out a low laugh: "Kill Odin? You're serious?"
A murderous glint flashed in Loki's eyes: "I've never been this serious before. That old bastard used me as a tool and then threw me away. Now I'm going to make him pay the price."
Malekith wanted to see any trace of lying in Loki's eyes, but Loki was the god of trickery, and lying was his instinct; Malekith could not find the slightest clue in Loki's eyes.
"Okay." Malekith extended his hand: "Deal."
Loki grasped his hand, and the instant their hands met, an invisible force surged from Loki into Malekith's body.
Malekith froze. He could clearly feel something invading his consciousness, a will that did not belong to him trying to take control of his thoughts.
