Chapter 37 Savior
Chapter 37 Savior
Hagrid didn't look well; his face, mostly covered by his thick beard, was pale, and he was walking with a slight stagger.
They were walking toward Lucas when Lucas heard Hagrid say to the boy, "Harry, I'd like to go to the Leaky Cauldron for a pick-me-up. You don't mind, do you? Gringotts carts are awful."
"Hey, Hagrid! Are you all right?" Lucas waved to him.
Hagrid's eyes widened in surprise: "Oh, it's you, Lucas!" He strode over and reached the stall in no time, the boy having to jog to keep up.
"Lucas, you left too quickly the other day, I didn't even have a chance to ask you what it felt like to ride a dragon!" Hagrid stretched out his large hand and shook Lucas vigorously. "I didn't expect to see you here. You must also be in Diagon Alley buying school supplies—what are you planning to do here?"
Hagrid looked at Lucas standing behind the stall and couldn't help but wonder, "Helping your parents take care of the stall?"
"This is my own food stall," Lucas said, putting up the sign. "I don't have any money, so I have to earn some myself to buy what I need."
Hagrid stared in surprise at the sign, which had several lines of text written in bright orange lettering.
"Delicious snacks."
"Chuffet (with hot chocolate sauce, raspberry sauce, honey, and cinnamon sugar) - 1 schaff per serving."
"Iced Strawberry Mint Soup (Sweet Flavor) - 1 Sike 10 Nats per bowl"
"Cucumber Yogurt Cold Soup (Savory Flavor) - 1 Sike per bowl"
This wasn't actually the type of snack Lucas had originally chosen. For example, regarding drinks, Lucas had prepared lotus seed, lily bulb, and mung bean soup, but apart from lily bulbs, lotus seeds and mung beans weren't produced in Britain at all, whether in the Muggle or Wizarding world. Lucas had originally bought them from a Chinese supermarket, but now that he had signed a magical contract, that was impossible.
Therefore, Lucas could only modify his dishes based on the raw materials that Leaky Cauldron could provide.
After carefully considering British tastes, and realizing there was no time to modify dishes that didn't suit local tastes, Lucas decided to eliminate them all. Also, the stall had just opened, and Lucas planned to start with something simple to test the waters...
After much deliberation, Lucas decided on one snack and two drinks.
Spanish churros are not actually related to traditional Chinese fried dough sticks. Although both are deep-fried, long strips of food, their preparation methods, textures, and ways of eating are quite different. This snack is still very rare in London today, but Lucas knew that after the turn of the millennium, Spanish churros would gradually become popular and eventually become a street food sensation.
Launching it now ahead of schedule is definitely the right thing to do!
Strawberry mint soup and cucumber yogurt chilli are both very British-style cold drinks, refreshing and cooling, with one sweet and one savory for customers to choose from, and they taste even better chilled!
Hagrid stared at the words on the sign for a long time, then looked at the smiling Lucas and exclaimed in surprise, "Merlin, you mean you make these yourself and sell them?"
Lucas nodded, his smile undiminished: "Life forces me to do this, how about trying my cooking? But I've just set up my stall and am preparing the ingredients, so the churros will have to wait a bit, but I've got two chilled drinks ready."
"Hagrid, how about a drink? And this one too..."
Lucas turned to the boy.
He was a very thin child, a whole head shorter than Lucas. He looked even thinner next to Hagrid, and his face was pale; he looked like a bean sprout.
As a chef, and a chef with in-depth knowledge of medicinal cuisine and pharmacology, Lucas could tell at a glance that this child was a typical case of malnutrition!
Moreover, the boy was wearing a loose, old shirt and shorts that were much larger than his size, revealing his bony knees, and a pair of round-framed glasses held together by a lot of transparent tape.
Sigh, this kid must be Muggle-born too. He's probably an orphan who can only live in an orphanage, otherwise how could he be so poor?
We farmers living in the countryside may not have much money, but we can always have enough to eat and dress decently.
"I just heard Hagrid call you Harry, didn't I?" Lucas smiled and extended his hand. "Hello, I'm Lucas McGregor."
The boy named Harry was looking at Lucas with curious eyes and quickly reached out to shake hands with him.
But before he could even open his mouth, Hagrid slapped him hard on the shoulder, his face beaming with pride, and announced in a booming voice, "Harry Potter! Lucas, this is Harry Potter!"
Harry Potter was nearly knocked to the ground by Hagrid, and before Lucas could fully react, the wizards around him had already swarmed in.
Even the stall owners put down what they were doing and lined up to shake hands with Harry amidst exclamations of amazement and enthusiastic greetings, blocking the road to Gringotts.
"Mr. Potter, it's so nice to see you."
"I've been looking forward to this day for so long, but it's still hard to believe I actually saw you!"
"It's an honor to shake your hand, Mr. Potter."
......
Lucas was stunned.
Oh dear, what a joke! I thought he was a poor orphan... Harry Potter, he seems to be a super famous figure in the wizarding world!
He and I were both freshmen, and of similar age. What kind of deeds did he do to earn such respect and welcome from passersby?
But why would someone so famous suffer from malnutrition?
Why would someone so famous wear old clothes and broken glasses?
Seeing that the crowd was surrounding Hagrid and Harry, Lucas didn't join in the fun. He simply suppressed his doubts, put on an apron, a chef's hat, and gloves, set up a cooking pot, and began preparing ingredients for his stall.
Add water, butter, sugar, and salt to a pot and heat over medium heat, stirring with a spatula until the butter is completely melted. After boiling, reduce the heat to low, then add enough flour and quickly stir with a spatula to form a smooth dough that does not stick to the pot.
Then immediately turn off the heat and let the dough sit for a few minutes to cool down. Lucas touched it to make sure the temperature was right, then added the prepared egg mixture to the dough and stirred until fully incorporated, forming a smooth and glossy batter.
Lucas lifted the spatula and watched the batter slowly slide down in an inverted triangle shape, then nodded.
Hmm, the viscosity is just right.
Just as Lucas was filling the piping bag with the batter and attaching a star-shaped piping tip, he suddenly heard a slow, drawn-out voice coming from the noisy crowd.
"Harry Potter, it's a pleasure to meet you. I am Lucius Malfoy, and this is my wife, Narcissa."
"It's such a pleasant surprise to see you here. Would you do me the honor of inviting me to my manor for a rest? My son Draco is a Hogwarts freshman just like you, and you two will become friends."
