Chapter 7 Zhu Peng's Dead End
Chapter 7 Zhu Peng's Dead End
Just then, Alice, the movie star in a red dress, suddenly pointed at Geralt and the others and shouted:
"And what about them?"
"What are their identities?"
Zheng Zha and the other two were immediately startled. They no longer cared about the suitcase. When Alice pointed at them, all three of them showed expressions of panic and surprise.
At the very back of the line, the middle-aged man, the woman, and the timid boy who looked like he could be easily bullied all showed signs of panic.
These people were all ordinary people before, and suddenly being thrown into a horror movie by the main god, their mentality has not been completely changed.
After all, everything changed too quickly, it was like a dream.
Of the entire team, only Zhang Jie and Geralt showed no change in expression.
Zhang Jie is an old hand and is very familiar with these things. Although Geralt is a first-timer in a horror movie, his past experiences are so rich that he has long developed a calm and composed mindset, remaining unmoved even if Mount Tai collapses in front of him or a deer runs past on his left.
Fortunately, Zheng Zha and the others' panic lasted less than 10 seconds, and Matthew immediately responded to Alice:
"They are the company's security personnel."
After speaking, Matthew focused his gaze on the others besides Zhang Jie and Geralt, scrutinizing them carefully before adding:
"In short, the information provided by the company is accurate. Some people may not be as simple as security personnel, but even so, we will only know the answer after you regain your memories."
Alice's gaze swept over the Central Continent team, but she lingered on Geralt for several seconds longer.
After all, Geralt was the only one with white hair present, and his orange cat-like eyes were even more unique. He was also wearing a medieval leather armor and carrying two longswords on his back.
Geralt's scars and his cold, weathered aura are impossible to ignore, and he certainly wouldn't be mistaken for a cosplayer, except perhaps by Zhu Peng.
Seeing this, Zhang Jie glanced at Geralt's sharply defined face, then smiled and joked:
"Hey, looks like she's a bit curious about you. Why don't you get to know her? She's the female lead."
Geralt replied expressionlessly:
The door opened.
As soon as the words were spoken, the steel gate that had been blocking everyone's view began to slowly rise.
As the steel gate was fully raised, a dark, unlit doorway was revealed behind it, accompanied by a blast of cold air.
Geralt frowned, his nose twitching slightly as he caught a faint stench of corpses and blood in the cold air—a smell that most people would never detect.
And Matthew, the mercenary captain, spoke up and gave the order:
"JD, Zhang Jie."
As Matthew spoke, he gestured with a famous hand sign, indicating that they should go inside.
Zhang Jie nodded, then drew his Desert Eagle from his waist and strode off with a somewhat carefree air, preparing to go in and scout ahead with JD.
"careful."
Geralt's cold, deep voice rang out. Zhang Jie, with his back to Geralt, raised his hand and waved his Desert Eagle to indicate that he understood.
The group watched nervously as Zhang Jie and JD's figures were swallowed by the darkness.
About 30 seconds later, Matthew shouted into the pager:
"JD?"
The next second, JD responded:
"Safe, Captain, please come in!"
As soon as the words were spoken, the lights behind the door came on, and everyone could see the scene inside.
"Go!"
After Matthew finished speaking, he led the way inside.
Geralt remained vigilant and followed the mercenary squad inside.
As Geralt entered, the faint smell of decay and blood became much clearer, but what caught Geralt's attention most was not the smell.
Geralt stood in front of the blinds, curiously peering at the scenery behind the window through the gaps.
What Geralt saw were rows of modern high-rise buildings, but the architectural style was completely new to him.
"It is quite peculiar that you can see the outside scenery from deep underground."
Alice, dressed in a red dress, walked up to Geralt and began to speak.
Geralt, while looking around at the unfamiliar skyscrapers, replied:
"It's really quite peculiar."
Upon hearing Geralt's response, Alice spoke again:
"My name is Alice. They told me I'm also a security guard for the Umbrella Corporation."
Geralt turned his head, looked into Alice's blue eyes for about two seconds, and said:
"Geralt, Geralt of Rivia!"
During the time Alice and Geralt locked eyes, Alice's gaze remained calm, and she did not look away.
Not far away, Zhan Lan also heard Geralt's self-introduction, and a look of understanding and surprise flashed in her eyes behind her glasses.
Zhan Lan looked at Geralt, her curiosity almost bursting forth. If the occasion hadn't prevented it, she would have already asked him.
The others, however, showed no reaction whatsoever to the name Geralt.
At this moment, Matt, who was still in handcuffs, squeezed through and interjected:
"This device is designed to improve the working environment, allowing you to see the view from the ground."
Neither Geralt nor Alice responded to Matt. Instead, they turned to look around and observe Matthew and the others' actions.
After Matthew's mercenary squad finished inspecting the room and the only two elevators leading to the lower level.
Matthew announced to the crowd:
"The elevator is broken, so we have to take the stairs. We have limited time and must get to the ground floor within 10 minutes."
After saying that, Matthew led his team toward the emergency exit stairwell.
Zhang Jie immediately caught up with Matthew, Geralt followed closely behind, and Zhan Lan, seeing this, also quickly started running, saying:
"Hurry up, we need to keep up with Matthew."
Before the words were even finished, Zheng Zha and Zhu Peng quickly started running, and the middle-aged man, the auntie buying groceries, and the timid boy also dared not fall behind.
As Zhu Peng ran, his fat jiggled, and his face looked terrible; he had clearly realized something.
"What should we do? What should we do?"
Zhu Peng's mind raced as he considered a way out: "This is going down a staircase. It's hard for me to find someone to help me. If I try to use someone to help me down the stairs, we'll both just fly off at an accelerated speed."
In just over ten seconds, Zhu Peng was so nervous that he could hear his own heartbeat.
"Zhu Peng!"
Zheng Zha looked at Zhu Peng with concern.
"well……"
Zhu Peng sighed, looking at Zheng Zha with a mixture of fear and envy, and said:
"Brother Zheng Zha, I might not be able to walk with you any further."
Upon hearing this, Zheng Zha's expression changed, and he immediately denied it:
"No, there must be a way. Don't give up now."
Zhu Peng forced a bitter smile, shook his head somewhat disheartened, and said nothing more.
