Chapter 11 Meditation and Vision
Chapter 11 Meditation and Vision
"Strange, why do I feel a strange sense of relief?"
Lorne, who was feeling somewhat irritable, suddenly felt a sense of relief that was the opposite of his mood.
Did I lose my mind because of time travel?
"Could it be that the pressure is so great that I'm really turning into a 'monster'...?" Lorne thought uncertainly, holding his head in his hands.
No, I'm fine. The problem is with this world.
This is just a fictional world in the novel. I'm not a monster; it's just that this world makes me seem strange.
"This world is too barbaric and backward, it's normal for me to have this thought..."
To distract himself, Lorne started looking through those occult materials again.
Ritual magic...
The making of talismans...
"It's all so troublesome..."
These things are impossible to experiment with while sitting on a speeding train.
Lorne can't even talk to himself too loudly now; it's early morning, and there are passengers sleeping all around him.
As he continued flipping through the documents, he came across a word that he recognized.
meditation.
It's similar to the meditation in my original world... Lorne looked at the information in the document.
"Give it a try." Lorne then glanced around and, seeing nothing amiss, began meditating as instructed in the documents.
"First, visualize an object in your mind." Lorne imagined the revolver he had just bought.
Briefly putting aside his current state of being on the run, his attention finally began to focus, and the various random thoughts gradually dissipated, leaving only the black revolver in his mind.
"Then, forget about it and replace it with something that doesn't exist in the world."
Lorne remembered that the information said this was a very important step. Only by following this rule could one gradually merge with the transcendent "self," the infinite "self," and the cosmic "self," and gain insight and revelation into the truth.
Although Lorne didn't quite understand the terms above, he still followed the instructions in the document.
Imagine, imagine what?
Does that mean the one from the original world counts? Lorne began to recall his most frequently used item from his original world—his cell phone.
However, no matter how he tried to recall or imagine, he couldn't concentrate any better.
"Strange, why isn't it working? Don't tell me there are cell phones in this world too." Lorne was a little puzzled, after all, the mysticism in this world was real, and some things were really hard to explain.
"Could it be something similar to a cell phone, or is it that a cell phone is too much like a small mirror, making it difficult to say whether it's something that doesn't exist in this world at all?"
Having no other choice, Lorne had to rely on his imagination. He used a liquid metal robot from a science fiction movie he had once seen as a model and imagined a twisted, humanoid object that looked like layers of shadows coming together.
Soon, he felt his mind and body calm down, and a layered, hazy sense of depth appeared in his eyes, just like when he had just drunk the potion.
The spirituality extended little by little, unfolding inch by inch, and Lorne quietly observed and felt it.
Feeling that his mind and body had calmed down, Lorne slowly opened his eyes.
"What is this?"
Strange colors appeared before his eyes. Lorne reached out to touch them, only to find that his hand passed right through them.
It was as if everything before him had been filtered through a strange lens. He turned to look at the other passengers and saw that they were covered in various colors.
Furthermore, there was a strange, swirling, unidentified object piled up together that was constantly moving.
"What on earth is going on?" Lorne rubbed his eyes, and after a few minutes of calming down, the scene in front of him gradually returned to normal.
He flipped through the documents at hand, trying to find something that could explain the current situation.
"Spiritual vision".
Lorne saw another word.
He quickly began to browse through information about clairvoyance.
Each person's non-physical body is divided into four layers, the core of which is called the "spiritual body". Outside of the "spiritual body" is the "astral body", which is the way the former communicates with the spirit world and the starry sky, and is the external manifestation of the former.
Some colors are often external characteristics of the etheric body; red appears on the hands and feet, which are involved in movement, while purple appears on the head and brain surface...
In addition, clairvoyance allows one to directly see certain spirits, ghosts, and vengeful spirits...
"So that's what those winks meant."
"Simply put, clairvoyance is the ability to see other people's souls directly through the eyes? No, it should be said that it's the ability to see other people's aura."
"But what are those strange little whirlpools? The information doesn't say anything about them."
"Could they be vengeful spirits? But how could everyone have one on their head?"
While pondering, Lorne suddenly remembered the information he had received when he drank the 'monster' potion.
"Monsters" can see things that others cannot.
"Could this be something that can only be seen through the 'monster' pathway? But what exactly is it?"
There was no detailed explanation in the knowledge of potions, and Lorne couldn't guess it for the time being.
He closed his eyes again and tried meditating a few more times. When he opened his eyes again, he found that the strange little vortexes did not appear every time, but the colors of the auras were always very clear.
After several attempts, Lorne was able to find the state to activate his spiritual vision. Although he was still some distance away from being able to activate it freely, he was almost there.
Ugh!
A loud whistle blared, and the massive steam train gradually quieted down and began to come to a slow stop.
Has this our destination? Has time really flown by?
Lorne, who had been experimenting with clairvoyance and learning various occult knowledge, was somewhat surprised; he hadn't expected time to pass so quickly.
"The last time I studied this seriously was in high school," Lorne said with a self-deprecating laugh.
"Awoo..."
Sensing movement inside the bag, Lorne opened it, letting the orange cat peek out.
The orange cat, now able to see the light again, wore a very human-like expression of grievance before turning its head away from Lorne.
"Forehead"
Lorne was a little bewildered by its appearance, so he just gently stroked it twice, then packed up the documents in front of him, slung his bag over his shoulder, picked up his suitcase, and got off the train.
"This must be Tingen," Lorne said, looking around at his surroundings.
"The air is indeed a bit fresher than in Backlund."
Unlike the perpetually gray atmosphere of Backlund, Tingen felt much fresher, at least without the strong smell of tar and the dust flying everywhere.
"I remember Tingen is known as a university town with many universities."
"Moreover, outsiders generally perceive the people of Tingen as very intelligent, which seems to be related to some ancient count's implementation of universal education..."
The original owner of this body was not well-versed in history, so Lorne naturally didn't have much of an impression of Tingen. However, the so-called comprehensive education made Lorne feel somewhat favorably towards him.
"Universal education—that sounds like something only time travelers would do! Could it be Roselle? No, he's an Intis. Could there be other time travelers?"
"But we can't rule out the possibility that the count had a long-term vision and outstanding ideas. But would there really be such a person hundreds of years ago?" Lorne thought uncertainly.
