"I have two more hostages, two hostages you would never expect."
Bain opened his palm, and the venom began to slowly seep into his body, gradually swelling his already massive frame.
On one side of his body, green plants sprouted from beneath his flesh, bursting through muscles and skin, causing Bane to bleed bright red blood.
Meanwhile, the other side of his body rapidly began to rot. A thick stench spread from that half of his body, the flesh cracking open inch by inch, oozing yellowish-brown bodily fluids.
These two forces began to contend with each other at the dividing point of his body, seemingly trying to tear Bane in two—and then, with Bane's nose as the center, the middle part of his body quickly turned pale with blue veins, was it the modification of Amber Gold?
The venom gurgled as it flowed into his body, and the three forces achieved a bizarre balance, appearing simultaneously within Bane's body, making him appear like...
Um... tricolor ice cream?
Chen Tao knew that such a metaphor was inappropriate and impolite, but this transformation did indeed add a dramatic touch to Bain's serious and cruel life.
Bain extended his arm, which was stained with the black power of decay, and made a slight grasping motion in the air, as if guiding some intangible power to flow into his entire body.
His half of body, covered in lividity, swelled up again, but was immediately suppressed by the combined forces of Amber Gold and the Green of All Things.
"Come quickly..."
Chen Tao felt a chill run down his spine.
He heard a rustling sound, like some huge rat digging a tunnel underground, trying to crawl into Arkham Asylum.
Chen Tao's heart tightened suddenly.
What is that?!
He silently transformed his body into the nano-Batman's nano-body, and the drifting black veil gradually condensed in the room.
Chen Tao was fully prepared. No matter what crawled out from under the floor, it would be struck down the moment it appeared.
The blackness of decay, the blackness of decay!
Could Bane and the Black Decay be in some kind of collusion? What kind of gigantic, rotting worm will emerge from the ground? A colossal, corpse-strewn beast?
It couldn't be some dead centipede, its body stitched together with various mutilated limbs, howling as it bursts out of the ground, could it?
Chen Tao's brain was racing, going through all sorts of ideas in those few seconds. He was shocked at how fast his mind was working.
Is the pool water I prepared in Lhasa still enough?
Amidst all sorts of random thoughts, the sound stopped.
The thing that was being dug underground finally reached below the floor.
A bead of cold sweat dripped from Chen Tao's forehead.
With a soft click, the floorboards made a sound.
Then, in the next second, a pale white hand yanked the head, smashing the floor and letting out a furious roar to the sky!
This terrifying monster, uh...
Wait, what is this?
Chen Tao stared wide-eyed in disbelief as he watched the two figures crawl out of the floor...
Zombies.
"Unforgivable..."
Chen Tao said.
“I sensed this power called the Black of Decay,” Bane replied. “You probably don’t understand how terrifying this power is.”
"The line between life and death has never been so blurred before me as it is at this moment. I have come close to death countless times, and I have long been prepared to embrace it..."
"But I never imagined that one day I would have control over death."
"Batman," he said earnestly, "I now understand so clearly... that death is not the end of everything, but rather the beginning, the beginning of everything."
"Unforgivable..."
Chen Tao muttered to himself.
"Therefore, Batman, I solemnly introduce my last two hostages to you."
Thomas Wayne.
The slightly taller zombie roared, a sound like a broken saxophone coming from his punctured throat.
Martha Wayne.
The slightly shorter zombie then let out a howl, sharp, piercing, and filled with hatred for all living beings in the world.
A pearl necklace hung around her neck. Perfect and flawless.
Chen Tao covered his face and sobbed softly.
"Unforgivable..."
A surge of rage welled up in his voice: "How dare you? How dare you speak to my parents—"
and many more.
Aren't these Batman's parents?
A bolt of lightning struck Chen Tao's brain, dispelling all the sadness in his mind.
???
Why should I be sad? They're not my parents. I'm Chen Tao, a time traveler. What does it matter to me, a time traveler, if Batman's parents' graves are desecrated?
Chen Tao realized why he had never considered Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne: he had never cared about the two corpses at all, and subconsciously he had never thought that the two corpses were anything that could threaten him.
How could he possibly have made contingency plans to prevent their graves from being robbed?
!
"You think I didn't know about the Clayface? You think I'd be foolish enough not to take any precautions against the Clayface? I'm disappointed, Batman, you underestimated me so much... That's why you miscalculated."
Bain slowly walked between the two zombies: "While I am somewhat surprised that you replaced all the hostages I kidnapped with mud-faced men, I never thought that I could sway your mind entirely with those hostages."
Chen Tao lowered his head, his shoulders trembling as if he were sobbing.
Bain looked down at him.
This enormous, devastating blow seemed to leave Batman both shocked and enraged, causing him to lose all will to fight.
The plan was executed flawlessly, a feat that deceived Batman and left Bane feeling slightly dizzy:
"That pamphlet you wrote for me about how to fight the Joker, in a way, also revealed how to fight you... It's practically a confession you wrote to me!"
"mean……"
When Bane saw Batman covering his face, he stood up from his seat, then clutched his stomach, collapsed to the ground, and slowly bent over.
"I knew perfectly well that the hostages I kidnapped could very well be replaced by the Clayface, I knew that even if I brought them here, I couldn't protect them in front of you... but I did it anyway. It was all a smokescreen, Batman!"
"Those hostages have distracted you, Jim Gordon, Harvey Block. You're so focused on them that you've forgotten to guard against the two most important people in your life!"
"This is all written in your pamphlet... How to fight the Joker? Distract him. How to fight Batman? Distract... him!"
"So now... [I'm going to die]."
Bane manipulated two zombies to stand in front of him.
"In the battle to come, if you want to attack me, you will have to personally grind your parents to dust!"
Even with Bane's composure, he could no longer suppress the arrogance in his voice.
The anticipation of impending victory sent his blood rushing to his brain—if he still had any blood flowing in his veins.
Batman collapsed to his knees, covering his face as he slowly convulsed.
"Waaaaah... Waaaaah..."
"God, you're not crying, are you?" Bain said.
"Woo-woo-woo, woo-ha-ha, woo-ha-ha-ha!"
"What?"
Bain's expression changed little by little; his initial excitement froze on his face.
"Hehehe, hahaha, hehehahahaha!"
Chen Tao burst into hysterical laughter, laughing so hard he fell over, rolling around on the ground and pounding the ground with his fists!
"Hahaha, hahaha, hahahahahahaha!"
