"Yes."
Earl Larry asked in confusion:
"Excuse me, are you...?"
He wasn't sure.
He had never met Graham, only heard his late father mention it briefly, as if his father had some interaction with the great prophet.
He went to great lengths to make contact with them this time.
"I am naturally not as great as my master, not even a fraction of his greatness."
The boy chuckled softly:
"You come with me."
Earl Larry followed the boy through the door.
It was a very small house inside.
It was so narrow that Larry had to curl up to avoid bumping into the various strange objects hanging in the house.
Among those objects were eyeballs, dried butterflies, the skull of some kind of creature, a jet-black spine, and even a strand of hair.
The boy led Larry to a stairwell.
The stairwell looked too small, so Larry had to bend down as much as possible to climb it.
But it still didn't work; the higher you went, the narrower the stairwell became.
The boy in front of him was already kneeling on the ground, barely able to crawl past him.
With no other option, Larry gritted his teeth, knelt on the stairs, and crawled up using both hands and feet.
Larry breathed a sigh of relief after passing the top staircase.
This appears to be an attic.
Although he was short, Larry was at least able to change from a crawling position to a squatting position.
Just as he was wondering who else could live in such a small house besides children, suddenly, a white spherical object rolled in front of him.
Larry stared intently.
It was a head, a fat head with a full head of white hair, beneath which floated wisps of magical energy like fireflies.
"Owner."
The boy knelt down.
Owner?
Larry held his breath, so this head is...
The head watched Larry's expression with satisfaction, then burst into a joyful laugh:
"Hahaha."
"You're Larry? Harland's son? Oh, you look just like him."
"Yes, Your Excellency Graham, in Lower Lari, my father Harland."
Larry quickly spoke up:
"You should already know why I've come to see you. Just name your price, and I'll pay it."
Upon hearing Larry's words, the head burst into another burst of cheerful laughter.
"Larry, you have a sense of humor just like your father."
"Although you seem to be much better than him, your brain isn't that much better."
"Price? Pay it back? I know what you're thinking. I don't need those things, I need you!"
"The part of you I'm most satisfied with."
Larry paused, staring at the head piled high with fat opposite him, and said:
"I don't quite understand what you mean."
Graham's mouth gradually widened into a grin, growing wider and wider until it almost reached his ears.
Larry, the absolute ruler of Bandanda, broke out in a cold sweat instantly.
……
Dave returned home drunk.
He hadn't been this drunk in a long time.
The last time was probably with Luo Xiu.
The two of them were completely drunk and talked a lot of nonsense.
Well, maybe it's just him saying it unilaterally, but it doesn't really matter.
Drinking is only fun when there are people to talk and listen.
But Luo Xiu is nowhere to be found; I haven't seen him for so long.
Suddenly, he looked down and, in the moonlight, saw an envelope tucked under the door.
Is anyone still delivering mail this late?
He bent down curiously and picked up the envelope made of black kraft paper.
It feels quite heavy when you hold it.
He opened the envelope, and what greeted his eyes was a golden hue.
In utter shock, he pulled out the letter and looked at its contents:
"To Dave, my dear friend."
"Forgive me for leaving without saying goodbye. I have no choice. I've made a fortune. A distant cousin of mine sent someone to find me and designated me as his sole heir."
"To avoid any further complications, I have already left quietly."
"Keep these 20 gold coins in the envelope. I know you like Mrs. Laura from the clinic; after all, you've praised her to me more than once when you're drunk."
"Marrying a girl requires resources, even if she's not young anymore. A bottle of good wine can only attract the friendship of someone like me, not love."
"Of course, to prevent you from not being able to spend these gold coins, I have put a bag of silver coins in your room, about one or two hundred."
“From now on you are a wealthy man. Recently, Old White from town has been thinking about going to the capital to do business. I think you can consider it.”
"In any case, this is definitely not a sad farewell. I look forward to seeing you again."
"This letter is dedicated to Dave, a good friend of Luo Xiu, a warrior of unparalleled bravery on the battlefield, and the most well-informed guard of Wheel Town."
Dave read the letter over and over in shock. He ran into the house and found a heavy cloth bag inside, along with a half-opened bottle of cider.
He stared blankly, picked up the cider, and sat down in the armchair by the fireplace.
Then he picked up the wine glass that was placed to the side, poured a little bit of cider, and sipped it slowly, seemingly lost in thought.
Also receiving the letter was Rosé's landlady, Mrs. Oles.
Next to her letter was a skull that made her freeze in place at first glance, because the back of the skull was unusually flat.
The first sentence of the letter was:
“My dear Mrs. Oles, I am very lucky…”
Tears are falling.
In the darkness of night
Luo Xiu and Leila walked out of the south gate of Wheel Town.
This was the entrance to the town he hadn't visited much before; from here, it led to Kanriel.
Tassanya and Milair, cloaked in capes, emerged from a secluded patch of woods to the side; they had been waiting there for a long time.
"Owner."
Tassanya and Milair spoke at the same time.
Luo Xiu nodded:
"Let's go, to Kanril."
The group set off as quickly as possible.
Aside from basic meals and sleep, the group spent the rest of their time traveling.
Kanriel and Bandanda are two separate cities, unlike Wheel Town, which is a town under Bandanda, so the journey is much longer.
Four days later, Luo Xiu looked at the two tall and majestic mountain peaks that appeared before him.
Amidst the mountain peaks, a dilapidated gate stands crookedly on the ground.
Above the gate were several large, rotten wooden characters:
"Red Mushroom Manor".
“Master, this should be the border of Kanriel, Red Mushroom Town.”
Milair glanced at the words on the gate and said to Luo Xiu:
"It is said that the red mushrooms in Red Mushroom Town are exceptionally delicious, ranking first among the various mushroom towns."
"It's still early for the reporting time, so we might be able to rest in Red Mushroom Town for a few days. However, I've heard there's been an outbreak of illness here recently, but I don't know if it's true."
"It should be true."
Luo Xiu pointed to the desiccated corpse of a man next to the gate in the distance.
The corpse was skin and bones, with a bluish-black complexion, and did not appear to have been dead for long.
The corpse's skin was covered with many small, bright red mushrooms, swaying gently in the wind.
The most chilling thing was that the corpse remained kneeling with its hands clasped together, as if it were desperately trying to stuff the red mushrooms into its mouth.
"Hmm...it seems these red mushrooms are quite delicious."
Luo Xiu came to a conclusion.
