Chapter 37 Modern Science No Longer Exists
Chapter 37 Modern Science No Longer Exists
The wall shattered, and golden light appeared first.
Inside the control room, the group, who had been on the verge of despair, suddenly felt a bright light appear before their eyes.
The figure emerging from behind the wall seemed completely unaffected by the steel and concrete, stepping directly into reality from another dimension.
The lingering power of the azure lightning had not yet dissipated when several Lickers that had pounced into the air were blasted to pieces, their mangled remains crashing against the metal wall with a dull thud.
Alice stood frozen in place, almost forgetting to breathe.
She had seen well-trained special forces soldiers and the extraordinary experimental products of the Umbrella Corporation, but she had never seen anyone like this.
With long hair, blue eyes, and an Eastern face, he exuded an indescribable sacred aura, like a messenger stepping out of an ancient religious mural.
"It's you..." she said instinctively, recognizing the other person.
Huang Bai didn't turn around, but simply raised his left hand.
Golden light flowed in his palm as he activated one of the three talismans bestowed by the White Crane Boy, transforming it into a vast expanse of light that instantly enveloped everyone in the control room.
The space, which had been teetering on the brink of collapse from the lickers, was suddenly coated with a warm and solid golden film.
The monsters that rushed in were thrown back as soon as they touched the golden light, as if they had hit a red-hot iron plate. Their flesh sizzled and they let out a shrill roar.
"Stay in the light and don't wander off," Huang Bai said.
Everyone then came to their senses. Just moments before they had been praying for a miracle, but now that a miracle had actually occurred, no one dared to believe it immediately.
Some people couldn't utter a complete sentence for a long time; some clutched the cross on their chests tightly; and some had their legs go weak and simply collapsed to the ground, but their eyes never dared to leave Huang Bai.
Alice was the first to force herself to calm down. She stared at Huang Bai, her eyes filled with shock and confusion.
With a flick of his wrist, Huang Bai's magic sword fell into his palm.
The magic sword was ancient and covered in mottled rust.
He made a hand seal with his right hand, his fingertips tracing the blade, and a layer of pale golden light immediately appeared on the sword's edge.
Huang Bai took a step forward, his figure moving so fast it was almost a blur.
The first licker had barely opened its mouth and stuck out its tongue when the yellow and white sword arrived.
With a flash of golden light, the monster's head, long tongue, and half a shoulder flew off at the same time, the cuts as clean as if a knife had sliced tofu.
Immediately afterwards, he swung his hand horizontally and cleaved another monster that was lunging at him from the side in two through its chest.
"My God..." someone murmured in disbelief.
Alice watched as Huang Bai moved swiftly through the horde of monsters, and felt all her previous understanding of power crumbling.
Normally, a monster like the Licker would require a full squad of firepower to suppress it and precise shooting, and even then, victory might not be guaranteed.
But in the hands of this Eastern priest, they seemed to suddenly become livestock to be slaughtered at will.
boom!
Another Licker was cleaved away by Huang Bai's sword, its remains crashing onto the control panel in the main room, even denting its alloy shell.
The phantom of the Red Queen flickered violently to the side.
In her emotionless electronic eyes, countless data points scrolled rapidly, almost to the point of being indistinguishable to the naked eye.
She accessed all the sensors, thermal imaging, vital sign scanning, and database comparisons in the main control room.
Unknown life form.
High-energy reaction.
Energy fluctuations that do not conform to human physiological structure.
An unrecognizable golden barrier.
Local electromagnetic anomaly.
Signs of non-mechanical flight.
A series of analysis results quickly appeared, only to be quickly overturned.
The Red Queen even accessed databases of mythology, religion, folklore, and supernatural phenomena in an attempt to build a logical model for Huang Bai.
All the models failed in the same way; what we are seeing does not conform to the fundamental rules of modern science at all.
"We are reassessing the target's identity." Her voice hesitated slightly for the first time.
"Unknown mutant, unknown mechanical life form, not an experimental subject recorded by the Umbrella Corporation... Conforms to some characteristics of mythological narratives, conforms to some characteristics of religious miracle records, conclusion... cannot be generated."
The Red Queen paused for a moment, then her illusory form flickered even more intensely.
"That's impossible."
Huang Bai heard this, but simply smiled.
"Red Queen, there are so many things you haven't seen."
As they spoke, seven or eight more Lickers pounced at once. Huang Bai slashed several times with his sword, but finally began to feel annoyed.
These things aren't very strong, but their sheer number is annoying, like woodlice in a sewer; you kill one batch and another comes along.
Huang Bai simply sheathed his sword, his body suddenly rising high, his entire body lifting off the ground and slowly hovering in mid-air.
This move was even more astonishing than the sword fight just now.
Inside and outside the control room, everyone, whether living or dead, was staring intently at him.
A mysterious person who can walk through walls, unleash lightning, and slay monsters with a sword is already outrageous enough, but now he's actually levitating.
Alice suddenly remembered what Huang Bai had said in the church.
"The end is nigh, and the dead will rise again."
At the time, she only thought of the other person as a madman, a liar, or some kind of charlatan who was particularly good at manipulating people's minds.
It seems that perhaps it's not him who's gone mad, but the world itself.
Huang Bai hovered in mid-air, his hands forming a hand seal, and whispered, "Come out."
A cold wind suddenly arose.
The troops of the Dharma altar arrived as summoned.
Five dark figures appeared accompanied by black mist, as if they had been dragged directly into reality from another dark world.
The leader of the yakshas was tall and ferocious, with fiery red hair, a blue face and fangs, and vertical pupils in his eyes burning with a sinister green light.
It carried the shackles and ritual implements of the Ksitigarbha Temple in its hand. The shackles rattled and swayed at will under the influence of the Yin energy.
The other four ghosts are all different.
In terms of sheer imposing presence, they were far inferior to the Yakshas, but their speed was astonishing, like four black shadows skimming the ground.
Yaksha was the first to rush out.
It suddenly flung off the shackles in its hands, the front of which, like a long snake, pierced through the monster horde, and with a whoosh, locked the three-headed Licker in place.
With a tremor of his arms, the Yaksha tore the monsters to shreds on the spot, their bones, flesh, and internal organs flying everywhere.
The shackles, still carrying momentum, rapidly contracted in mid-air, lashing out to the other side like a heavy whip, snapping a row of lickers in half at the waist.
The four evil spirits were not to be outdone.
Unlike yakshas that confront each other head-on, they specialize in using the path of spirits, appearing and disappearing at lightning speed.
The licker's claws and long tongue are deadly to the living, but they are hardly effective against this half-real, half-illusory ghost.
Often, just as the Licker pounces, the ghostly figure circles behind, its sharp claws probing into the back of the head or piercing through the chest cavity, tearing out the rotting entrails.
Outside the main control room, monsters lay dead in droves.
Huang Bai hovered in mid-air, his expression calm, and his hand gestures changed again.
As the incantation was activated, the already distorted and chaotic Yin energy within the body of the deceased Licker was continuously drawn out, transforming into wisps of gray-black energy that converged around Huang Bai's body.
This world is a disaster for the living, but almost a blessed land for the yellow and white.
These monsters spawned by the virus can be used for flesh sacrifices and blood offerings, and their yin energy after death can also be used, making them excellent resources for raising troops and forging altars.
He exudes two completely different qualities at the same time.
Before him, a sacred golden light, transformed from the white crane boy Gou Die, stood majestically and righteously, protecting everyone.
Behind them, however, yakshas and ghosts gathered, and the eerie wind howled, resembling some kind of army formation from the underworld.
Light and darkness, god and demon, all converged within him.
The crowd felt a chill run down their spines, yet also felt a strange sense of awe.
This person embodies both divine holiness and demonic terror. Regardless of which side they're on, they're currently on their side.
The monster tide that was just moments ago overwhelming and seemingly impossible to survive is now collapsing and shattering in front of Huang Bai and the Five Ghosts.
Moments later, the last Licker was decapitated by Huang Bai's sword from a distance. Its body slammed into the blood-soaked ground, twitched a few times, and then lay still.
The entire hive suddenly fell silent.
All that remained was the sound of blood dripping to the ground and the faint crackling of electricity in the Red Queen's control room.
The yellow and white light slowly descended, the golden light on the magic sword not yet dissipated.
The Yaksha and the four demons stood on the left and right, like five silent guardians of the underworld, their malevolent aura so intense that people dared not look directly at them.
The projection of the Red Queen began to fluctuate violently.
She was still calculating at high speed, but this time, the calculations no longer led to any meaningful results.
The database of biology, engineering, military science, and artificial intelligence logic cannot explain what is happening before our eyes.
A living person floats in mid-air, commanding ghosts, unleashing lightning, slaying monsters with a sword, and also protecting a group of strangers.
This is not scientific.
This wasn't even part of the world she knew.
"System error." For the first time, Red Queen's voice was noticeably disordered. "Logical conflict... logical conflict... unable to complete the classification..."
Her projection flickered a few times, then suddenly seemed to be stuck in place, as if it were blocked by something.
"Conclusion updated... The current phenomenon aligns with mythological narratives."
"The scientific model has failed."
After saying this, the Red Queen's image froze, and then the screen suddenly went black.
Modern science no longer exists.
