Chapter 14: The Sword King
Chapter 14: The Sword King
"Pat...pat..."
The campfire crackled as the team members sat around in the cave, resting with their eyes slightly closed.
Only Sidrin kept her eyes open, gazing thoughtfully at the beast-eared sword king not far from her.
After killing the Rasta Bear King, everyone seemed quite exhausted... There was still some distance to Rosenberg, and it would undoubtedly be dangerous to continue through the increasingly heavy snow.
So, after finding a cave, the group decided to rest for a while and leave after the snow subsided.
Cinderella, who seemed to be in good spirits, naturally became the one to keep watch... but for her, this was not the time to sleep anyway.
She looked Kyrie Il from head to toe at the orc leaning against the wall, and couldn't help but wonder what the orc tasted like... It has to be said that Cidlin had never tasted the Sword King's blood before.
After tasting Lokishi's blood, Cinderella had a guess in her mind.
Perhaps strength also influences the taste of blood?
Anyway, it is reflected in magicians... Cinderella had tasted demon blood before, and although it tasted quite good, it didn't have the flavor of a fine wine like Lokishi's.
It wasn't just aged wine; with each tasting, Cinderella even noticed a subtle, refreshing flavor.
It's like the feeling of water magic... how should I put it?
The taste of the sea?
In short, if blood can undergo so many changes in a mage, what about in a swordsman?
Although she knew a few swordsmen, they were all men... Cinderella had no interest in male blood. As a noble vampire, Cinderella was always very picky about the blood she drank.
Only women who meet the physical requirements have a chance to become their food... After all, there is a saying among vampires: drinking blood is also a kind of sexual intercourse.
Strictly speaking, Gilead wasn't exactly Cinderella's type... but sometimes, curiosity trumps taste...
It just so happens that I haven't eaten dinner yet tonight... Usually by this time I would have already enjoyed Loki's delicious food... But now... Looking at the student who is already asleep, Cinderella decided not to disturb her.
"What are you looking at?"
At that moment, Kyrie Irvine suddenly opened his eyes, looked at Cinderella, and asked slowly.
"I'm watching you." Knowing she wasn't asleep, Catherine chuckled softly. "You're quite alert..."
"This isn't vigilance," Kyrie Irvine said slowly. "I'm just... worried about you."
That is vigilance.
"The word is... vigilance... I'll remember it." Kyrie Irvine looked knowing.
Are you illiterate?
This was not unexpected for Cinderella, because even at La Noah University, the orcs were the least studious.
"So why are you looking at me?" Kyrie Irvine continued to ask.
Sidrin raised an eyebrow slightly and walked over to Girenu's side. As she did so, the Sword King instinctively reached for the scabbard of his katana.
"As the Sword King... at such close range, you're actually afraid of a mage?"
"You're no ordinary magician," Kyrie Irvine said seriously. "I see."
"What did you see?" Cinderella tilted her head.
"I saw magic," Kyrie Irvine said, slightly lifting his eyes that he had been covering.
"You used unseen magic to deflect the Bear King's attack."
"A magic eye?" Cidlin raised an eyebrow in surprise. She really didn't know that the orc in front of her actually had a magic eye.
Will the magic eye affect the taste?
"This is my innate magic eye," Kyrie Irvine said slowly. "It has been with me since birth..."
"You sound more suited to be a magician?"
"I'm not interested in magic," Kyrie Irvine said, shaking his head with a hint of disdain. "I can't concentrate on reading a single book."
So he really was illiterate...
Sidrin couldn't help but curl the corners of her lips. She was becoming more and more interested in the orc in front of her. She was very interested in how an illiterate person could become a sword king, and she was also interested in how an illiterate person could join this adventure team... Of course, she was most interested in her taste.
"How about this... I can teach you to write... to recognize characters... and all you need to do is..."
"I don't need any of that," Gilead shook his head, refusing Cinderella's offer. "All I need is a sword."
"Still an illiterate person who's proud of being illiterate..." Cinderella pouted and said, "So, is there anything you want?"
"Or is it something you want to do?"
"What's it to you?" Girenaus frowned slightly. "Why are you asking these questions?"
"Of course, it's because I want to trade something with you," Sidrin said, slowly sitting down next to Kyrie Ian. Leaning against the wall, she glanced at the orc and said, "Anything I can do, I'll trade with you."
"I don't want anything." Kyrie Irvine shook his head. "So what do you want from me?"
She wasn't particularly wary when she asked that question; rather, she seemed... somewhat frankly curious.
Such a frank person made Cinderella subconsciously... like him?
Because she considers herself a frank person.
"I want your blood," Catherine said slowly, stating her request directly: "Just a small vial will suffice."
"Are you some kind of dark magician?"
"That's a bit rude of you," Catherine raised an eyebrow. "But I can tell you, I'm not."
"I just wanted to try it."
"The taste?" Kyrie Irwin paused, seemingly not expecting the answer to be so...strange.
"Isn't blood just the taste of iron?" she muttered to herself.
"Not so." Cinderella shook her head patiently, like a gourmet sharing her recipe: "The blood of each race tastes different."
"It's just that you don't have the tongue to taste that flavor."
After a few seconds of silence, Kyrie Irving suddenly stretched out his arm and then pushed open the scabbard with one hand, revealing a bit of the blade.
"puff."
She scratched a small wound, and a little blood flowed out.
Then, right in front of Catherine, she took a lick of her own lip.
"This definitely smells like iron... Are you kidding me?"
"..." Seeing her angry expression, Cinderella was unusually at a loss for words.
Finally, she shook her head and said, "Just take it as a joke." As she spoke, she took out a small bottle from her bosom and placed it on the wound. With her skillful movements, drops of blood slowly flowed into the bottle.
Soon, the bottle was filled with blood.
Seeing that Cinderella had filled a vial with blood, Gilead thought for a moment and said, "So, how can you help me?"
"I'll help you with anything." Cinderella licked the bottle opening slightly.
Hmm... there's a faint fishy smell of orcs, but surprisingly... it's a bit peculiar... it even has a slightly spicy taste on the tongue... I've really hit the jackpot this time!
As Kyrie Il watched her movements, he unconsciously twitched his nose: "But I haven't decided yet."
"Then take your time to think about it." Cinderella said, putting away the bottle while taking out an Asura silver coin from her bosom, but this silver coin was different from the one she had given to Loki.
A blood-red crystal is set in the center of this silver coin.
"Once you've made up your mind... crush this crystal."
"If I weren't sleeping, I would rush to your side."
After taking the silver coin, Gilead paused and said, "You're a strange man."
Sidlin laughed when she heard this.
"Aren't you the same?"
