Chapter 12 You can't even control your own people.
Chapter 12 You can't even control your own people.
The ending of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is really hard to think about too much. The fight scenes seem to be full of punches and kicks, but the more you think about it, the more something feels off. He is clearly the mastermind behind the world's destruction, owning the Umbrella Corporation, a super multinational corporation, digging bases all over the world, with people all over the place, and at the very least, he can clone a large number of clones to fight for him.
In the end, Isaacs had to fight Alice all by himself, because Wesker, the only security guard for the Umbrella Corporation, was "fired" by Isaacs, leaving him with a limp and lying on the ground waiting to die!
Of course, if one insists on explaining it, it's not entirely impossible.
On the one hand, in order to meet Isaacs's "tomorrow's end" time limit as soon as possible, almost all of Umbrella Corporation's people were sent out to eliminate human survivors, leaving very little guarding force. On the other hand, there is a more realistic reason—sometimes people are really not as trustworthy as machines.
Beneath the Hive lie the Umbrella Corporation's top executives, who have been asleep for ten years. Who can guarantee that they will wake up alive after falling asleep?
What if those soldiers discover that the people they are protecting are a bunch of scum and want to kill them?
So instead of having people guard it, it's simpler and more straightforward to have machines guard it and kill anyone who breaks in.
"Now, it's your turn."
Alice stood up and looked at Isaacs with a hint of wariness in her eyes.
Because of the agreement with the Umbrella Corporation, the Red Queen could not inform Alice on her own initiative, but Shen Yi did not care about that. He directly told Alice about her background through Isaacs, which made Alice feel a bit of empathy for the clone Isaacs, who was also a clone.
Even so, she couldn't completely trust him.
"Of course, no problem."
The clone, Isaacs, nodded.
Wesker's death left Isaacs as the only high-ranking member of the Hive. Although the original Isaacs is theoretically still alive, he is in a dormant state and can only be awakened by a clone.
Even if Wesker were dead, Isaacs wasn't without backup plans. In the eyes of the clones, although he was a high-ranking member of Umbrella, the real administrator was still dormant. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn't overstep his bounds, and he would also actively awaken the administrator after completing his mission. This is why, in the original storyline, the original Isaacs acted arrogantly towards the clones.
Even if all Umbrella Corporation employees, including the clones, were to die, the Hive, located thousands of meters underground in a cave, would be inaccessible to outsiders through a hidden floating bridge in an underground pool.
Unfortunately, all of this was ruined by Shen Yi, a transmigrator who knew the plot, and with the Red Queen and the clone Isaacs, two traitors, the three of them arrived at the hall where the two were in hibernation without any danger.
"Red Queen, awaken the BOSS."
As the clone Isaacs finished speaking, the hexagonal hibernation pods resembling coffins on either side of the three slowly rose up, and white, low-temperature mist emanated from the opened pods, revealing the true appearance of the hibernators.
The one on the right is naturally Isaacs, the final boss of the Resident Evil series, but Alice's gaze unconsciously turned to the left, where her clone's original body, Alicia Marcus, was.
Compared to Alice, who, despite being in her thirties, didn't age as quickly as many Western women, Alicia looked much older, appearing to have only a few years left to live. This made Alice's feelings somewhat complicated.
"Transfer all the shares of Umbrella Corporation to me."
Just as Alice was lost in thought, Shen Yi suddenly spoke up.
Isaacs and Alicia, who had just woken up, looked at him subconsciously, a hint of confusion flashing in their eyes, and murmured repeatedly, "Transfer my shares... to this person in front of me."
To be honest, in a normal world, even if Shen Yi's soul-transfer technique worked, Isaacs would have a million ways to reclaim the protection umbrella. After all, Shen Yi is an undocumented immigrant, and no country's law would recognize such a "transfer agreement."
The problem is that the world has been destroyed by the Umbrella Corporation. What countries are there now? The agreements set by Umbrella are the only truth. Isaacs, as the person in charge, and Alicia, as a shareholder, personally said that they would transfer the shares to Shen Yi. Even if the Red Queen was unwilling, she had no choice but to comply.
"What did you do?"
Alice was startled. Although she didn't understand what Shen Yi had done, she instinctively pointed the gun at him.
"It's just a little hypnosis."
Although Shen Yi had become a martial arts master, he didn't have the confidence to withstand bullets head-on. He decisively shielded the clone Isaacs in front of him and hurriedly explained, "You know they are from the Umbrella Corporation, so their credibility isn't very high."
Alice thought it made sense. It was hard to say about Alicia, but Isaacs obviously wouldn't let them manipulate him.
However, she gradually realized why she had previously thought the clone Isaacs was too obedient, and even the survivors in the armored vehicle seemed unusually calm.
However, time was of the essence, and she felt that even if it was a trap, she had to take the risk. After all, it was better to be led in first than to risk her life sneaking into the hive.
Just like in the original story, she suspected that the doctor was an undercover agent, but she did not choose to take action. Instead, she quietly removed his bullets and went with him to find Isaacs. The doctor also kindly helped her find him.
Hmm, thinking about it this way—Shen Yi isn't very credible either!
"Isaacs is indeed untrustworthy, but Alicia is the one who has always been helping you."
The projection of the Red Queen appeared and explained on Alicia's behalf, which made Alice look at Shen Yi even more suspicious.
"Calm down, put your gun down. We all share the same goal: to save the world, don't we? I just prefer to keep my safety in my own hands."
Shen Yi quickly reminded Alice that the most important thing now was to release the antidote for the wind-borne disease, not to fight amongst themselves.
Killing Alice is not a big deal, but what if it angers the Red Queen and she secretly sabotages him?
Upon hearing the words "antidote for wind-borne pathogens," Alice finally lowered her gun. Indeed, no matter what Shen Yi wanted to do, he was ultimately not a high-ranking member of Umbrella Corporation and certainly wouldn't want to live in a world overrun by zombies, much less actively awaken the higher-ups at Umbrella Corporation.
"Let's go back to the surface. Then you can release the antidote for the wind-borne toxin yourself. Are you relieved now?"
Shen Yi waved his hand, ordering the clone Isaacs to retrieve the antidote.
Seeing the two Isaacs's respectful demeanor, Alice couldn't help but click her tongue in amazement: "Your hypnosis... is even more terrifying than my superpowers."
That's why I don't want to tell you.
Shen Yi shrugged. "But don't worry, my ability doesn't work on people with strong wills. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to control Wesker for only a short time just now."
Alice finally felt relieved. As the saying goes, nobody wants to face someone who can hypnotize them at any time.
"By the way, could you help her remove it first?"
Alice was still very curious about Alicia's true form. She quickly asked. The Red Queen nodded repeatedly; Alicia was one of their own, and they couldn't control even their own people.
