Chapter 567 The Weasley Brothers' Prank
Umbridge is like an annoying toad; whenever people try to ignore her, she suddenly jumps out and disturbs the peace with her shrill, unpleasant voice.
[Hogwarts Senior Investigator's Order]
Students found carrying any kind of joke prop will be expelled immediately.
The above regulations are in accordance with Education Order No. 26.
sign:
Senior Investigator Dolores Jane Umbridge's huge notices were plastered all over the school, not only on the bulletin board, but also in the common room, auditorium, corridors, and even classrooms.
"Look, she's drafted another education order, number twenty-six," Ron said.
Compared to the previous Education Orders No. 24 and No. 25, this notice is much simpler, consisting of only two lines.
But for some reason, Xilun sensed a feeling of exasperation from those two lines of notices.
Joke props are quite common at Hogwarts, and there's even a popular shop called Zonko's Joke Shop in the neighboring village of Hogsmeade, where many visitors bring back trinkets like dung balls, biting teacups, and screaming balloons.
These items are very popular among students, so most are willing to take the risk of losing points if they get caught.
Even if they get caught, it's just a matter of confiscating their stuff and deducting five points, which they can easily get back by actively answering two questions in class.
But this kind of mild punishment would result in Umbridge being expelled.
There's only one explanation for this illogical situation: she suffered a significant loss, and in her anger and embarrassment, she concocted this Twenty-Sixth Education Order.
Everyone else agreed with Xilun's statement.
"I bet it's related to Fred and George," Ron said confidently.
"Why?" Harry asked curiously.
"It was just a gut feeling," Ron said. "My gut feeling told me they definitely had something to do with this."
"What a heartbreaking scene—"
"Our most beloved younger brother could actually say such heartbreaking things—"
Two identical voices came from behind. Fred and George were standing there, exaggeratedly covering their mouths, their pupils trembling, looking as if they were about to cry.
"Yes, I'm sorry." Ron was startled and blurted out, "I didn't know you two—I didn't mean that, I meant, you two always buy a ton of joke props and you like to mess with the professor."
"Oh, we never go against the professor!" Fred shouted even louder, startling everyone around them into turning to look at them.
"This is slander—"
"That's slander!"
"Hey, prefects, are you just going to sit idly by and do nothing about this kind of slander against your classmates?" George said indignantly.
Harry opened his mouth hesitantly, unsure how to handle the situation.
Hermione, however, remained calm. She picked up the pumpkin soda on the table, took a sip, and asked composedly, "So, is this really a lie?"
"Oh, of course not," Fred said casually.
"We did it," George admitted with a shrug, both of them appearing calm, as if someone else had been shouting earlier.
"So—" Fred ignored Ron's anger and looked at Hermione with a grin, asking, "Is Granger going to report us to Umbridge?"
"What did you do?" Hermione asked.
"It's nothing," Fred said. "It's just that Dumbledore gave her a box of cockroaches, which we replaced with real ones."
"Also, we accidentally spilled the itching powder, and Peeves put it in a balloon, then accidentally popped the balloon on Umbridge's head."
"We replaced all the plates in Umbridge's office with wolf-tooth flying saucers, and the kittens on the plates were chased away by a group of ghouls."
"We also got Neville's homework from the Potions classroom and poured half a bottle into Umbridge's breakfast oatmeal."
"Now when she speaks, she shows her purple teeth and blows blue bubbles."
"But she seems to be using this as a joke prop."
Xiren was stunned. He hadn't expected that Fred and George had done so much to take revenge on Umbridge in the past few days.
They're incredibly audacious to steal Neville's potions homework from the Potions classroom. Is that stuff even safe for people to drink?
It's clear they really want to kill Umbridge—and they're planning to pin the blame on Snape as well.
Unfortunately, Umbridge was lucky; she only ended up with purple teeth.
Across from Sirius, Harry, Ron, and Hermione were already staring wide-eyed at Fred and George.
"You guys did all of this?" Harry asked blankly.
"It doesn't have to be," Fred said with a laugh. "Anyway, Umbridge definitely doesn't know."
"That's why she put this up." George gestured toward the notice, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes.
If you fire someone for using a joke prop, then wouldn't it be fine as long as you don't get caught? They've been outwitting Filch for so many years, and they've never lost.
The same would happen if it were Umbridge.
"How is Umbridge doing now?"
"I don't know, maybe she smashed plates in the office," George said quietly. "I really don't understand, those ghouls are so cute, how could she bear to throw them all on the ground and smash them?"
Hermione's lips twitched. She had read so many books, newspapers, and magazines, but she had never seen anyone use "cute" to describe a ghoul.
Well, the appearance of those magical creatures is quite fitting for their names.
"I really want to see what Umbridge looks like now," Harry whispered.
He was one of the most targeted students; Umbridge seemed to want to choose a typical student to establish her authority. Thus, Harry, with his big name, stubbornness, and impulsive personality, became her best target.
Umbridge didn't need to do much; she just needed to guide Harry slightly during class, say a few bad things about Sirius, and Harry would take the bait and argue loudly with her—the kind of argument that even Sherlock and Hermione couldn't stop.
"Go see her if you want," Fred said with a smile. "If you head to the school hospital right now, you should be able to run into her on the way."
"The school hospital?" Harry was taken aback.
"Umbridge wants Mrs. Pomfrey to turn her teeth back," George said. "We just sneaked into the school hospital, but Mrs. Pomfrey can't concoct the antidote."
"She suggested that Umbridge have all her teeth pulled out and then drink Bone Regenerating Elixir to make them grow back."
"But Umbridge disagrees."
