Chapter 89 Dawn's Infiltration: The Underrated Watchdog
Chapter 89 Dawn's Infiltration: The Underrated Watchdog
On the border of the Land of Fire, deep in the forest.
Two figures dressed in long robes with black backgrounds and red clouds were weaving and leaping among the tree branches.
"That's so slow."
Deidara rode on a giant clay bird, flying low.
"Kisame, can't you hurry up? My artistic senses are practically burning, ugh!"
"Don't rush, Deidara-san."
Kisame Hoshigaki carried Samehada and followed behind at a leisurely pace.
"Konoha is just ahead. Right now, Konoha is an information black hole for us, and there might even be unknown forces there."
"A black hole?"
Deidara scoffed dismissively.
"Why bother with all that? The leader's mission is to capture the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki. Once we're done, we can just take him by force."
"My art will instantly destroy that village's defenses and blast out the Nine-Tails, hmm!"
Kisame was very strong and hadn't been afraid much along the way, but since it was a ninja village of a major country, he had to think a little more.
"Let's be careful. Our mission is to retrieve it, not to destroy the Nine-Tails. If we don't control the amount of bombs properly, we might even kill the Nine-Tails, and who knows when it will be able to regenerate. It could also delay the leader's important matters."
The two stopped at the edge of the forest, two kilometers from the gates of Konoha.
Ahead lies the area bounded by Konoha's barrier.
Deidara took out a lump of explosive clay from his ninja tool pouch and kneaded it in his hands.
For Deidara, art is an explosion.
Forget about barriers, I've blasted them all to smithereens. What's the point of all this trouble?
So we're making preparations in advance, ready to launch a strong attack at any time.
"How do we get in?"
Deidara conjured an owl-shaped bomb and, after consulting with Kisame, made a final decision.
"Let's just launch an airstrike! Go in from the air, find the Jinchūriki, blast him unconscious, and take him away. Simple and straightforward!"
Deidara still offered his simple and direct solution.
"No, this plan is not feasible."
Kisame held Deidara's hand down.
"Konoha's barrier team is still operating. Making a big fuss about it will only invite an attack from the entire village."
"Although we're not afraid, it will be troublesome. And it's easy to alert the Nine-Tailed Fox. If it goes berserk or escapes, the mission will fail."
"Tsk tsk tsk, it could have been much more convenient."
Deidara reluctantly put away the clay.
"This is troublesome. I'll just infiltrate first, and once I find my target, I'll give this village a grand farewell."
The two decided to bypass the main entrance and sneak in through a forest behind the commercial street.
That area is an expansion zone of Konoha, and its defenses are relatively weak.
Ten minutes later, the two silently passed through the forest, and a path appeared ahead.
A simple guard post was set up by the roadside; it was more like a sunshade than a guard post.
Under the shed, there was a deck chair.
A man with bandages wrapped around his face and wearing sunglasses was lying on it, seemingly resting.
A huge sword was standing next to it.
Outside the guard post, a pretty "girl" dressed in a black and white waitress uniform was serving him.
This scene is so incongruous, it looks like a big brother taking his mistress on vacation.
"This is……"
Kisame, who was hiding in the bushes, was stunned for a moment and didn't react. This scene was really a bit shocking to his worldview. He had never been treated like this in the organization.
"It seems Konoha really has no one left."
Kisame sneered.
"They actually hired wandering samurai and waiters to guard the outer perimeter?"
"That knife..."
Deidara pointed at the Executioner's Blade.
"It looks kind of familiar, hmm."
Kisame narrowed his eyes and carefully examined the man lying on the chair.
Bandages, a large sword, and the aura emanating from someone who seems to be asleep.
"That is..."
Kisame recognized him.
"Kirito of Kirigakure, Momochi Zabuza?"
"I didn't expect that."
Kisame's tone was full of sarcasm.
"A man who was once one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, known as the Demon, has actually been reduced to being a watchdog for Konoha."
"Should we kill him?" Deidara asked.
"Since they're acquaintances, let's just clean it up."
Kisame grabbed Samehada on his back.
Samehada seemed to sense its master's murderous intent and became excited as well, its barbs standing up under the bandages.
"Lest he raises an alarm and ruins our plans."
The two stopped concealing their presence, emerged from the shadows, and blocked the road.
A powerful surge of chakra erupted instantly, startling a flock of birds into flight.
Bai stopped what he was doing and looked at the two uninvited guests who had suddenly appeared. His eyes were very calm, as if the two people who came were nothing special.
Welcome!
Bai said with a smile.
"Are you two here to make a purchase? If so, please use the main entrance. This is the staff entrance."
"Consumption?"
Deidara couldn't help but burst into laughter, as if he had heard a hilarious joke.
"We're here to send you on your way, huh!"
Zabuza, who was on the recliner, turned his head and glanced at the two guys wearing red cloud robes.
"dawn?"
Zabuza's voice was languid.
"Just as the boss said, they really came."
He picked up a black walkie-talkie that was placed next to him and pressed the call button.
"Hello, is this the boss?"
Zabuza spoke into the walkie-talkie, his tone as relaxed as if he were ordering takeout.
"Two monsters have entered without tickets."
"Hmm, looks quite fat."
"One is a shark-faced guy, and the other is a little kid playing in the mud. Of course, I'm more familiar with the shark-faced guy."
"Live or dead?"
These words thoroughly enraged the two people opposite them.
Wild monsters? Mud-playing brats?
"Damn it! Damn it! Kid, are you calling me that? Although, I have no problem calling the shark next to me, hmm."
However, Deidara's veins bulged as he continued.
"How dare you insult my art! I'll blow you to pieces!"
Kisame also mocked at this moment.
"Oh, so you're scared now? Who are you asking for help?"
Kisame pulled out Samehada.
Zabuza.
"Your knife seems to have gotten dull."
"Have you even lost your dignity as a ninja? You actually have to ask others for help? You've disgraced the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, and you've completely disgraced Kirigakure as well."
Zabuza put down the walkie-talkie and finally stood up from the recliner.
"dignity?"
Zabuza laughed, and you could feel his mockery even through the bandages.
"Can this kind of thing be eaten as a meal?"
Zabuza slammed his sword into the ground, deciding not to act for the time being.
"Speaking of shame, you murdered your colleagues, betrayed the village, and now you're a henchman for some shady organization. What right do you have to talk to me like that?"
"At least I'm working for something as simple and unpretentious as money."
"And you?"
Zabuza stared at Kisame's shark-like face.
"You're nothing but a tool for brainwashing."
"Oh, no, that's not right."
Zabuza shook his head.
"Sorry, you're not even as good as a tool."
"I'm a proper security supervisor now, with a basic salary and commission, plus room and board."
"And you, you're just a dog of the Akatsuki."
This statement hit Kisame right where it hurt.
Kisame's eyes were almost slits, and his killing intent was almost uncontrollable.
"A sharp-tongued fellow."
"It seems the only way to shut you up is to cut your tongue off."
"Samehada, dinner's ready!"
Zabuza slung his greatsword over his shoulder and said proudly to Kisame.
"Don't rush, our boss also said that shark meat is quite delicious, and the aquarium in the store is just missing a star attraction."
"As for that kid playing in the mud..."
Zabuza looked at Deidara.
"We're just short of someone to set off firecrackers for the New Year. Congratulations to you two, you've been accepted."
