Chapter 422 422: No Money?
Chapter 422 422: No Money?
Fortunately, little Spider-Man reacted quickly. Not only did he dodge the attack with a backflip, but he also fired two unknown projectiles with a flick of his hand, blasting the attackers straight into the sea.
He then looked at his hands in disbelief, as if he couldn't believe that attack had come from him. Blaine, however, saw it clearly—it wasn't webbing. It was more like miniature missiles or palm-fired projectiles. That was very much Tony's style.
Hoo—hoo—hoo—
Suddenly, just after little Spider-Man dealt with the two goons, a gust of wind swept in. A figure with mechanical wings and a steel mask surged up from the water.
No need to guess—it was the Vulture.
"Hey, little Spider-Man,"
"You can't beat this guy."
"Want to consider—"
"Uh, Mr. Hunter,"
"I'm really out of money,"
"That fifty was my last savings,"
"You know my Aunt is strict with my allowance,"
"I don't have anything left to pay you."
Listening to Blaine's persistent attempts to negotiate even now, little Spider-Man was covered in black lines, completely speechless. Even though he couldn't see Blaine, he could clearly hear him speaking into the air around him.
"Well,"
"Don't regret it…"
After saying that, Blaine seemed to take offense and disappeared immediately. In reality, it was just one of his little tricks—because he didn't believe that, in what was about to happen next, little Spider-Man wouldn't give in.
From a distance, after leaving the cruise ship, Blaine shifted his attention back to the battle.
At that moment, little Spider-Man and the Vulture were locked in a fierce fight. At first glance, they seemed evenly matched, but over time, little Spider-Man clearly held the advantage.
Not to mention that little Spider-Man's suit far surpassed the Vulture's crude gear, his own physical abilities alone gave him the edge.
Before long, the Vulture was pushed back and nearly defeated. But he clearly wasn't willing to accept defeat. Stepping back, his wings flared as he took to the air. At some point, he had already equipped himself with an alien weapon—something resembling a laser cannon.
Hovering mid-air outside the cruise ship, the Vulture didn't hesitate. He pulled the trigger and fired directly at little Spider-Man.
With the help of his suit's analysis, little Spider-Man seemed to recognize the weapon's power. He immediately raised his hand and fired two web lines at the Vulture.
The reinforced webbing—enhanced with carbon-fiber strength—was both incredibly tough and flexible. One strand shot straight into the turbine of the Vulture's wing pack, jamming it, while the other wrapped around the alien weapon.
To everyone's surprise, little Spider-Man tried to pull it away. But the Vulture refused to let go, and the two were locked in a brief tug-of-war. However, with his turbine disabled, the Vulture had no choice but to release it.
The sudden loss of resistance caught little Spider-Man off guard, and he fell backward onto the deck. The alien weapon hit the ground with a heavy crash.
But it didn't end there. Whether due to the Vulture's rough construction or the fragility of the alien tech, the weapon shattered on impact.
Needless to say, the energy contained within the alien weapon was terrifying. Even a small device could produce such a large-scale explosion—let alone this specially modified weapon.
The massive surge of extraterrestrial energy burst outward like a balloon filled with fine sand popping open, scattering violently in every direction. Each strand of energy sliced through everything around it like a laser.
In an instant, the entire cruise ship was cut cleanly in half.
If even the ship itself couldn't withstand it, let alone the people aboard. Panic erupted as everyone fled in all directions. But this was the open sea—where could they possibly run?
(It seemed the Vulture had considered this as well. To prevent little Spider-Man from escaping, he had deliberately kept his distance while firing. Unfortunately, his plan ended up deceiving no one…)
"Oh, what a pity,"
"This is really turning into the Titanic,"
"Tsk, tsk, tsk…"
From the shadows in the sky, Blaine watched the scene unfold with clear schadenfreude. He had told little Spider-Man to hire him, but the kid refused. Now look at this—an outright catastrophe. He had wanted to show off in front of Tony; now he'd be lucky if he didn't get scolded.
Seeing that the alien weapon had sliced the cruise ship in two, the Vulture clearly realized the consequences. If the blame fell squarely on him, he'd be in serious trouble. Without hesitation, he tore the webbing off his wings, grabbed his accomplices, and fled without a trace.
Meanwhile, little Spider-Man—who had never faced such a disaster before—was both terrified and panicked. He swung frantically back and forth, trying to stitch the two halves of the ship together with his webs.
"No, no, no, no…"
"Please…"
"Come over here—no—"
"You, you, and you…"
His voice spilled out in a continuous stream as he fired web after web, desperately trying to hold everything together.
But no matter how hard he tried, webbing was still just webbing. No matter how strong it was, it couldn't possibly hold together an entire cruise ship. The vessel weighed at least tens of thousands of tons. While little Spider-Man was strong enough to stop a speeding bus, compared to a cruise ship, a bus was insignificant.
"Hey, hey, hey, don't panic,"
"Do you need help this time?"
Seizing the moment, Blaine finally stepped in again, choosing precisely when little Spider-Man was at his most desperate to make another pitch.
"Oh, Mr. Hunter—"
"Oh, shit, thank goodness you finally showed up—"
"Quick, help me, Mr. Hunter—"
"I can't do this alone."
Hearing that familiar voice again, little Spider-Man looked like he was on the verge of tears. Half sobbing, half shouting, he rushed toward Blaine and pleaded.
"Hey, hey—don't get close right now,"
"This is your responsibility,"
"It has nothing to do with me,"
"I'm under no obligation to help you…"
"Unless…"
"Stop talking, Mr. Hunter—just do something!"
"The ship is sinking—"
Little Spider-Man's voice cracked, as if tears were about to spill over. His panic was unmistakable.
"No rush, no rush,"
"Aren't you out of money?"
Blaine continued to tease.
"Uh…"
"This is money I secretly saved while shopping behind Aunt's back…"
