Chapter 4735 X Royal Family: New Life (Fourteen)
"The U.S. Secretary of State's office published an article stating that Krakya's political path is completely wrong, and cooperation with China will never bring peace to the world. If they continue down this path, the United States, along with all its allies, will impose multifaceted sanctions on Krakya's economy, trade, and culture. Please listen to our detailed report below..."
"The US president posted on his social media that Krakia's contact with S.M.A. is 'unacceptable,' and that Krakia is incapable of establishing any long-term, good trade relations with countries other than the United States and its allies. He added that if they intend to do so, the United States will certainly retaliate."
"The Kremlin has just issued a statement saying that any mutants within its borders are prohibited from entering Krakya using the Krakya Flower. Russian citizens attempting to do so are urged to cease such illegal exits; otherwise, customs will not recognize any travel, which could result in citizens being stranded overseas..."
"A recent article in the British Mirror suggests that MI5 may be considering more stringent measures, with potential British naval sanctions against maritime trade operations in Krakya and its island homeland..."
With a click, the television was switched off. The main universe's Iron Man sighed deeply, almost gritting his teeth as he said, "We've only been gone a short time, and they've already offended so many countries. How did they manage that?"
“Look on the bright side,” Thor said, stuffing food into his mouth. “We’ve only been gone a short time, and we already have a TV signal here. We can even receive several channels, which means their technology is quite advanced.”
The main universe's Iron Man couldn't help but roll his eyes. He was about to say something when he coughed violently a few times. Captain America next to him pulled him down to sit: "Your injuries haven't healed yet, so don't shout. Go and rest."
"I just can't stand mutants ruining the fruits of our labor," said the main universe's Iron Man. "The situation on Clarkia Island has improved a lot, but how can trade and diplomacy proceed normally when we've offended so many countries at this time? Cough cough cough..."
“I’m also very curious,” Black Widow said, squinting. “How did they get in touch with S.H.I.E.L.D.? Logically speaking, they shouldn’t have any connection.”
The local Avengers were clearly discussing this issue as well. Nick Fury walked in, placed the documents on the table, and looked at them, saying, "The latest news from Wakanda is that they've begun some cooperation with Clarkia. Regarding the sanctions, they've remained silent, even unwilling to issue any diplomatic condemnation, which means their mutual interests must be substantial."
"What could it be?" Captain America asked.
“Medical care,” Nick said decisively. “The two countries with the highest level of advanced medical care in the world are most likely to join forces and monopolize medical technology. It wouldn’t be difficult for them to achieve this. What I’m wondering is, if the mutants had thought of this earlier, they wouldn’t be without a single ally by the time of the United Nations General Assembly.”
“You mean…” the local Iron Man narrowed his eyes, “their leader has changed?”
“That’s the only possibility.” Nick sat down, sighed softly, rolled up his sleeves, and said, “S.H.I.E.L.D. has conducted a very comprehensive investigation and analysis of Magneto and Professor X. They are both idealists, but they also significantly lack practical experience, political acumen, and even some common sense.”
"This move of first winning over Wakanda and then joining S.H.I.E.L.D. is not something two political greenhorns would do. As I said before, if they had known this earlier, Clarkia wouldn't have been forced into this situation. After analysis, we unanimously concluded that there might be a change in Clarkia's regime."
“But if other mutants had this ability, they wouldn’t have waited until now to use it,” Ant-Man questioned. “While it might not amount to usurping power, giving advice is always easy. Why are they only now thinking of changing course?”
"Therefore, we do not believe that other mutants in this universe inspired them, but rather that they came from other universes."
"You mean those visitors from other universes? Forgive me for speaking frankly, but their interests are not entirely aligned with those of mutants. Just like the Avengers in the main universe, they don't want the mutants in this universe to thrive too much, because that might contradict their goal of becoming the leader of the multiverse human alliance."
"Is a central universe possible?" Captain America asked. "That Schiller is definitely suspicious."
“This isn’t like Schiller,” Nick said. “You’ve all seen what he’s done before. No one can say that the Shi’ar invasion and the subsequent events weren’t related to him. While this doesn’t mean he lacks diplomatic skills, it does show that he doesn’t like to solve problems using Earth-based diplomacy. He prefers to use dimensional reduction attacks to leave others with no other choice.”
Upon hearing this, everyone fell silent. They had been fighting in space for so long, and only by finding a very fatal weakness in their opponents did they manage to push them back to the vicinity of Mercury's line. They hadn't even won completely and still had to rely on the mutants to hold them off. They had only returned to rest temporarily, and if the situation worsened, they would have to go back to the field.
While they were the ones who started it all, no one can say for sure how the Red Gate Orchid Factory just happened to open into a portal. But in general, they were largely tricked, though Schiller must have been involved in some tampering as well.
If he were someone who liked to solve problems through alliances and collaborations on Earth, he wouldn't have gone to such lengths, because it would obviously be more difficult and riskier. Since he's already done it this way, there's no need to use an even more complicated method.
"Could it be mutants from those two universes?" Black Widow asked again. "They could very well come over, right?"
“That’s exactly what I was guessing,” Nick nodded. “Our spies in Wakanda captured footage of the recent diplomatic reception, but the image isn’t very clear because they didn’t dare get too close. Can you tell which universe’s Charles Xavier this is?”
He distributed the documents in his hand, and everyone received a photo. Nick then added, "According to the informant, the visiting guest seemed quite young, without a helmet or brainwave amplifier on his head, looking like an ordinary young man. But the King was very kind and even invited him to stay for a meal."
After hearing his description and glancing at the photo, Spider-Man suddenly realized and said with certainty, "It must be them from the central universe."
Everyone looked at him, and Spider-Man continued, "There are quite a few young Professor X and Magneto in all the multiverses. But the only ones who are young in appearance and experienced in their methods are probably the two in the central universe, because they have reversed the aging process."
Everyone else seemed a little surprised. Spider-Man continued, "Their universe does have a substance that can reverse aging. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I'm sure that Spider-Man in their universe has become younger."
Those present weren't particularly interested in the idea of rejuvenation, since most of them were cyborgs with the ability to maintain their youth, and it wasn't that they lacked the means to do so; it was just a matter of whether the cost was acceptable.
To their surprise, it was people from the central universe who arrived. It seemed the main universe was the one more willing to intervene; Iron Man from the central universe had been largely inactive, only making a brief appearance during the lab battle and not taking any significant action.
"These two are incredibly powerful," Spider-Man commented. "The mutants in the central universe have taken over the entire Andromeda Galaxy and survived the siege of the three great empires, even managing to inflict their wrath upon them. They also have their own independent nation on Earth, and have long since established normal diplomatic relations with various countries, maintaining good relationships with them. I've never heard of any country imposing sanctions on them. The mutants move freely between Earth, the solar system, and the Andromeda Galaxy, and even participate in various construction projects on Earth. They are far more powerful than those in our universe."
Nick frowned slightly and said, "I have heard about that, but is it really just the two of them who did it?"
"But you can't deny that if they hadn't developed that potential, mutants would have been left behind in the development of the central universe. But the fact is they caught up. And now, talking about the past is meaningless. These two are probably the most politically astute mutant leaders in the entire multiverse, aren't they?"
Captain America said with a headache, "In that case, sanctioning them is not wise. I've never understood why the US government keeps going against them. If this were my time, they would be highly sought after by all sides."
“Unfortunately, this is no longer a time of war,” Black Widow shook her head and said. “I can roughly guess why the president wants to sanction them. Sanctioning them is a pretense; restricting the East is the real goal.”
"I'm actually a little disappointed that the Shi'ar forces didn't reach your doorstep," Doctor Strange said, making a startling statement. "Humanity will never understand the meaning of unity unless a knife is held to their throat."
"So, invading the solar system isn't quite like having a knife to your throat, huh?" Thor scoffed. "I thought it was already stuck in my eye socket."
No one argued with him about this. It's simply the current state of affairs; humanity's technological level is insufficient, and our understanding of the universe is incomplete. In their view, the sun is incredibly distant, and the Red Gate Orchid Factory was built near the sun only after they captured so many scientists and used extraterrestrial technology. If you told them that a star system is like your bedroom, and that an enemy invading the solar system is no different from a home invasion, they wouldn't understand.
Doctor Strange was clearly speaking out of anger. Earth isn't at a point where it can afford to bring enemies that close to fight. Using alien threats might have an immediate effect, but it's far too dangerous; it's probably for the best that we haven't gone that far.
But on second thought, didn't Schiller, who devised this plan, have any other thoughts as he watched the troops gradually leave? After all, his plan to use alien intimidation to force humanity to unite seemed to have failed. Didn't he have any backup plans?
“I don’t understand either.” Spider-Man shook his head as everyone looked at him. “The doctor is very capable, but he’s not omnipotent. Maybe he didn’t expect us to win.”
“It wasn’t us who won,” Captain America said. “The weakness was given to me by him, which means he ended his own plan. Why do you think that is?”
Everyone shook their heads, unable to figure it out. If Schiller hadn't revealed their weakness, they would probably still be fighting desperately, and judging from the situation at the time, the Jupiter line would have been lost. The Shi'ar Empire wasn't pushing forward little by little; the next line would likely be the lunar line.
If humanity had delayed any longer, disaster would have been imminent, and the plan to force humanity to unite might have been completed. What made Schiller suddenly decide to abandon the plan and instead give the Avengers a power boost, allowing them to repel the threat to Earth in one fell swoop?
No one present knew the answer; they could only speculate. However, there was no point in studying the question now. They needed to find a way to balance the relationship between Clarkia and various governments, rather than letting the two sides fight another war on Earth. This would test not only the abilities of the mutant leaders but also their political acumen.
