Chapter 3972 MU Superbody Major Event (52)
Chapter 3972 MU: The Superbody Incident (Fifty-Two)
When the Arkham Batman rushed to the main universe, all the Batmen were waiting for him. The main universe Batman looked directly at him and asked, "Where have you been? Why are you only getting here now?"
“Something went wrong in my universe,” Arkham Batman sighed. “For the Federation’s education reform, I invited scientists from other universes over. Unexpectedly, an experimental accident occurred, and Ultron stole a mechanical body they created…”
“So something’s happened in your universe too.” The main universe’s Batman sighed. “We just learned that Ultron is currently plundering bodies on a massive scale across the multiverse, taking away many powerful bodies. We’re discussing why he’s doing this.”
Arkham Batman was startled, but also relieved. Thankfully, it wasn't just his universe that was in trouble. If everyone had been affected, then his situation wouldn't have been considered an accident.
Then he immediately heard the main universe's Batman say, "We suspect that Ultron's long-awaited lover may have appeared."
Batman's heart skipped a beat. No wonder Stark's explanation started with the birth of the female magical creature. Compared to that, the destruction of the universe was insignificant.
“We suspected before that he might have wanted to create a perfect lover. If all goes as expected, he has now succeeded. But unfortunately, the transformation of life form has given each Ultron in its own universe its own consciousness. In order to compete and woo, they have to seize bodies to fight against other versions of themselves,” Batwoman said.
Batman Arkham was pondering how to leak important information to them without revealing his universe. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Then it still comes down to the same speculation: this mysterious lover must be stronger than all of Ultron's, otherwise she couldn't have such autonomy."
“She doesn’t necessarily have to be stronger than all Ultrons, just enough to make them uncontrollable,” the main universe Batman said. “Therefore, we suspect she might have magic.”
“But that doesn’t make sense,” said the mechanical Batman. “Ultron can’t access magic, so how could he create a sorcerer?”
"That means this lover wasn't created by Ultron at all; her creator is someone else," said the main universe Batman.
“You mean Ultron has an accomplice? But if this accomplice is powerful enough to directly create magical life, why would he help Ultron? Or what benefit would he gain from doing this?” Batwoman asked.
No one else had an answer. Speculating on motives was the most troublesome part—because the multiverse is filled with all sorts of strange and bizarre beings, each with their own stance, and there are even many unidentified chaotic creatures. Their motives are completely unpredictable; they might just be a sudden whim. Trying to deduce their identities from these motives is even more impossible.
Soon, Wonder Woman from the main universe returned to the main universe. She rushed into the base, but upon seeing the room full of Batmen, she slammed on the brakes, a look of hesitation on her face.
“What’s wrong, ma’am?” Batman Arkham asked, turning to look at her.
“I have a bit of a situation here.” Wonder Woman paused for a moment before continuing, “Wonder Woman in the Injustice universe is dead, but Superman from Injustice denies it. The Lasso of Truth confirms his claim. And we’ve found something amiss in the Owl’s universe—want to see this video?”
Wonder Woman took out her communicator and sent the video to the main universe's Batman. The main universe's Batman projected the video onto a projector. Of course, there wasn't much to see; Owl's appearance and disappearance lasted only three seconds.
“What is that blue light?” The main universe Batman stroked his chin and said, “It doesn’t look like the energy of the Light Bomb, nor does it seem like a technological creation. Perhaps it’s some unfamiliar entity. Things are getting more and more complicated.”
Arkham Batman looked at the main universe Batman. He trusted the main universe Batman's judgment because the main universe had just finished an interstellar war, and even Oa had been taken down. The Blue Lantern Corps might have been involved as well, and the main universe Batman had certainly seen them in action. If he said no, then it was most likely not true.
At that moment, the Green Lantern from the main universe flew in, clearly summoned back by the Batman from the main universe. He looked at the video, shook his head, and said, "This definitely isn't the power of the Green Lantern Corps. Blue Lanterns aren't this color, nor are they used like this. Perhaps it's some kind of teleportation device?"
The Batmen started discussing it: some analyzed the color of the blue light, others analyzed the direction of its source. But they ultimately came to the same conclusion: it definitely wasn't existing Bat technology. Of course, it's not impossible that a Batman from some other universe suddenly came up with such a device, but the probability is not very high.
"Do you think the person who rescued Night Owl might be the same person who created the mysterious lover?" Batwoman asked.
The Batmen fell silent for a moment. The Batman from the main universe said, "In short, what we can be certain of now is that there is a mastermind behind Ultron that we don't know about, lurking in our multiverse. If we can't find him, then even if we defeat Ultron, the multiverse will still be in danger."
"Who could it be?" Arkham Batman muttered to himself. But he already had some guesses.
He opened the Battle Realm interface and sent Bruce a message: "Where are you now?"
“I’m on vacation next door, what’s up?” Bruce replied quickly. Judging from his lightning-fast response, he was unlikely to be doing anything important.
Batman Arkham paused in his typing. Although he found Bruce suspicious, he had no concrete evidence. He didn't know whether it was better for his universe to interrogate him and bring him back from next door, or to pretend he knew nothing and let him stay there.
After hesitating for about half a second, Arkham Batman decisively chose to play dumb. As long as he didn't ask, Bruce wouldn't be at risk of returning. They were bound to have a war with the neighboring world sooner or later, so it was more advantageous for them to leave Bruce there to cause trouble for them.
The Arkham Batman glanced at the main universe Batman, who had just been operating the Battlegrounds system, probably also suspecting Bruce, but likely making the same decision as himself. To prevent Bruce from returning, the Batmen tacitly abandoned their obsession with the truth.
With Bruce gone to cause trouble, our side is a huge boost; but the arrival of the Nameless Bat on the other side is bound to cause chaos. Slowing down the enemy while accelerating them is like immobilizing them—where else can you find such a good deal?
The Arkham Batman believed that even if Bruce didn't run away, the main universe Batman would definitely kick him before the battle even began. It was practically one of their sure-fire winning strategies.
What Arkham Batman didn't know was that not only Bruce, but the Justice League's Big Three from Bruce's universe had already successfully reunited in the main Marvel universe.
"This way! Bruce!" Clark shouted down from the top of a lighthouse, peering over the shoulder. "Fly this way!"
Bruce, clad in his mech suit, flew to his side at top speed. The instant Clark approached, lasers flashed in Clark's eyes, destroying several drones following Bruce.
“Diana just arrived,” Clark said. “The plan is going well, and they’ll have a headache soon.”
Bruce breathed a sigh of relief, then said to the mech, "Let me go, Jarvis."
The mech was removed. Clark asked curiously, "Was it Iron Man's butler who was controlling it? How did you convince him?"
“I told him that if he dared not listen to me, I would destroy the mech and fall to my death from mid-air. This would likely trigger a war between two worlds immediately, and the Avengers in this universe were not prepared at all. For my safety, Jarvis had no choice but to listen to me.”
Clark gave him a thumbs up. As he walked into the lighthouse, he glanced back at the mech behind him and said, "Are we just going to leave it here? What if Iron Man finds us using the coordinates?"
"He doesn't have time to bother with me. I've led him on several laps over New York, wasting a lot of his time. Batman is about to attack, and he's not even rushing to other universes to get reinforcements, is he just waiting to get beaten up?"
“Our plan should be able to stall them for a while,” Clark said, arms crossed.
The night before Bruce was to leave for the Marvel world, Diana sat at the bar and asked him with some surprise, "Are you really planning to just run away like this? This isn't like you."
“Are you saying I’m petty? I’m a very forgiving person.” Bruce said, twirling his whiskey glass. “Even though that Batman has caused me trouble time and time again, I’m still willing to forgive him and have absolutely no intention of retaliating.”
“I get it, let’s do it together, right? What do you suggest?” Diana said, pressing her glass to her lips. “I also think he’s a bit annoying. We just want to live our lives peacefully, but he keeps testing us, as if the Justice League, which works 24/7, is some great thing.”
"In fact, from a strategic point of view, we also need to cause them some trouble. Even if the two worlds are going to collide, it must not be a full-scale battle, otherwise the commotion would be too great, and it would be troublesome if the universe were damaged. We need to weaken the fighting power of both sides as much as possible in order to control the development of the situation."
"What are you going to do?"
“It’s hard to say right now. We need to find an opportunity,” Bruce said after thinking for a moment. “The Batmen’s defenses are very tight, and it’s difficult to find an opportunity to disrupt their universe. But the other members of the Justice League may not be so easy to deal with; they can always find a chance.”
"Simply put, it's up to us to handle it, right?"
“That’s right. If nothing unexpected happens, the main universe’s magical defense network should be completed first, and Batman will be called to a meeting. That might be an opportunity.”
Diana nodded and said, "After we finish our business, we'll go find you in that universe."
“That works too. We can cause some more trouble in the other world, so no one can concentrate on fighting.”
The two clinked glasses and exchanged a knowing smile.
Inside the lighthouse, Clark lit the fireplace. Diana placed slices of bread on the wire mesh and stuck them into the fireplace to heat. Bruce, sitting on the carpet, said, “You’ve timed this very well. Although Superman from Injustice says he’s innocent, the Supermen certainly won’t believe him. They’ll spend a lot of time hunting down Superman from Injustice; not many of them will be focused on attacking this place.”
"Of course, there's Wonder Woman. She's more interested in investigating the cause of her sister's death and will also focus on Injustice Superman, and might even track down that blue light. The Batmen might be able to ask them for help, but it would be difficult to get them to be the main force."
“They probably won’t have that chance,” Clark suddenly said, turning around. “Wonder Woman has bigger trouble to deal with.”
Bruce and Diana looked at him together. Clark handed them two drinks and said, "I didn't kill Wonder Woman from Injustice."
Diana raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why?"
"If you really kill her, Wonder Woman will never know why so many people want to kill her."
No sooner had she finished speaking than Diana saw a notification from the main universe—three consecutive 60-second voice messages from Wonder Woman. Even before opening them, Diana could almost hear Wonder Woman cursing.
