Chapter 3816 The School Doctor's "Daily Life" (Part 31)
The main universe's Batman rushed towards the direction the bald eagle was flying, with several other Batmen following behind him. Originally, Owl and the others hadn't intended to go; they'd only pretended to run a couple of steps before stopping. But when they stopped, they looked in the direction the eagle was flying—and the bald eagle was carrying the Lego Batman towards the Enchanted Forest!
Night Owl had a bad feeling. He and Saffir were studying dark magic deep in the Enchanted Forest. Although they didn't leave any evidence near the cabin, they hadn't made any special effort to cover their tracks either. If it were anyone else going, it wouldn't be a problem, but with so many Batmen rushing over together, someone was bound to notice something amiss.
He immediately took off after the main universe Batman. The main universe Batman, who was running ahead, caught a glimpse of him out of the corner of his eye and slowly curled the corners of his mouth into a smile.
The bald eagle that snatched the LEGO Batman seemed completely unaware that it had captured a plastic miniature that couldn't be eaten at all, and plunged headlong into the Enchanted Forest with the LEGO Batman. The main universe Batman, along with Arkham Batman and Great Adventure Batman, rushed into the Enchanted Forest.
Of course, everyone knows the Sorcerer Supreme forbids students from entering the Enchanted Forest, but this is a matter of life and death. Regardless of whether these people are made of plastic, they are their beloved family and friends. As righteous Batmen, how could they stand by and watch their classmates and friends be taken away?
After the three rushed in, Batman Arkham lowered his voice and said, "Did you do this?"
“Don’t worry, I’ll explain when we get back,” said the main universe Batman.
Batman from Arkham noticed that he had deliberately slowed down, and so did Batman from The Great Adventure. They exchanged a glance, knowing that the main universe Batman probably had something else in mind, so they also slowed down.
Although the Enchanted Forest has a complex terrain, Batman is an expert off-roader. But the three of them are now trudging along like novices, as if afraid of leaving one of them behind if they go too fast.
Not long after, they heard a slight noise behind them. The main universe Batman turned around and saw Night Owl and Injustice Batman hurriedly chasing after them. Now Arkham Batman knew who he was waiting for while he was walking so slowly.
After the two groups reunited, the main universe Batman adopted a wary demeanor, looking around as he walked deeper into the area. Even so, his pace was no longer as slow as before; it was as if he was in a hurry to rescue someone and didn't want to clear a path slowly, but instead strode forward with great strides.
Night Owl had been here more often than him. Using the shape of the surrounding plants, he immediately determined the direction they were heading, which led directly to the cabin in the Enchanted Forest.
The owl grew anxious. If they continued on this path, it wouldn't be long before they found the cabin and traces of his and Saffir's activities nearby.
The main universe's Batman had already discovered clues about suspicious activity in the library. If he also found clues about the cabin, he would inevitably connect the two. If he also found traces of his own activity, he would have solid evidence of his contact with the suspicious individuals. With so many Batmen watching, he wouldn't be able to deny it. What if it leaked to the Sorcerer Supreme…
Night Owl's heart was pounding faster and faster. The instant his heart rate changed, Arkham Batman abruptly turned and stared at him.
Night Owl's heart skipped a beat; he felt like he was about to die suddenly.
"Damn it!" he cursed inwardly. This guy was too perceptive; even while navigating this terrain, he still had the energy to monitor the heartbeats of those around him. He couldn't afford to lose his composure and give himself away.
Night Owl was no pushover either. He took a few quick breaths, trying to control his heartbeat, but because he had lowered his heart rate so much, he felt dizzy. He tensed his muscles to control his steps and follow the main universe's Batman.
"Shall we go any deeper?" Injustice Batman asked hesitantly. "The Sorcerer Supreme said the Enchanted Forest is dangerous."
“We have to go and save people,” said the main universe Batman. “If you think LEGO Batmen can’t get hurt, you’re wrong. LEGO Batman ended up in the school hospital on his first day, and several professors couldn’t do anything about his injuries. It was Lucifer who came to his rescue.”
Several of them had heard about the incident, but they didn't expect the Lego Batman to be so badly injured. But then again, it's made of plastic, not alloy. How strong can a plastic toy be? If it were really pecked by a bald eagle's beak, it would probably be seriously injured.
Since the main universe Batman had already put it this way, the others couldn't easily refute him, especially Night Owl. The main universe Batman knew he had been to the Enchanted Forest, and if they tried to dissuade him now with reasons like "the Enchanted Forest is too dangerous," the main universe Batman would definitely sense their guilty conscience.
This is so troublesome. Once again, Night Owl felt things slipping out of his control. Even the slightest sound of the wind was amplified in his ears, the air flowing into his nostrils began to feel tangible, and he even felt his eyeballs sinking downwards until they were soaking into his brain.
Schiller, following behind the group, shook his head. Night Owl's anxiety was practically tangible; he was clearly under immense pressure. It was only because he hadn't lost his Batman basics and his willpower was decent that he had held on this long without giving himself away.
In fact, Schiller believes that there's a significant difference between having Bruce Wayne as Batman and not having him. Neither Thomas Wayne nor Thomas Wayne Jr. possessed the same level of talent as Bruce Wayne, resulting in them being less effective as Batman.
Night Owl was essentially manipulated by the main universe's Batman. The main universe's Batman didn't even exert much effort; he simply used the situation to his advantage and set up a few moves, leaving Night Owl sweating profusely and struggling to defend himself.
Schiller followed along because he knew that it was probably Batman from the main universe who was involved this time.
Although his plan to frame Night Owl wasn't fully coordinated with the main universe's Batman, the maker of the yarn ball always seemed to be on the same wavelength. Schiller even suspected that the main universe's Batman had been plotting this since the first day of the Sorting House.
It's indeed a bit suspicious that LEGO Batman was assigned to Saturn Academy. It's not that there's anything wrong with the academy; as a LEGO Batman skilled at building with bricks, it's normal for him to go to the Engineering Academy. But Schiller has a feeling that the main universe's Batman is involved in this.
Lego Batman was assigned to Saturn Academy instead of Neptune Academy, which he longed for. So he stormed into a Neptune Academy classroom, which resulted in him being hit by a wand and becoming the first person to be admitted to the school hospital. This became the headline news during the start of the semester, and the whole school knew about it.
So when he was carried off by an eagle today, it made sense that Batman and his crew from the main universe said they would go to rescue him. After all, this guy was still quite vulnerable, having been injured by a wand. It was perfectly normal for the heroes of justice to rush to his aid immediately; even if the Sorcerer Supreme questioned them later, they could use this excuse to brush it off.
Knowing that there might be a scheme by the main universe's Batman, Schiller wasn't just going there to watch the show. He wanted to add fuel to the fire of this grand drama.
He possessed a gray mist that allowed him to move at varying speeds. He had been following Batman to listen to their conversations, but now he had business to attend to, so he sped up and arrived behind the cabin in the blink of an eye. There was still quite a while before Batman and his crew arrived.
"Are you sure the eagle flew this way?" Night Owl frowned, looking ahead with some concern. "That should just be an ordinary bald eagle. How could it have flown into the Enchanted Forest?"
“I’m curious about that too,” said the main universe Batman. “Eagles have excellent eyesight and would never misjudge their prey. Bald eagles, which live in eastern North America, usually feed on rabbits or burrowing mice on the ground, and there are no birds in the air that can compete with them. It shouldn’t be trying to catch Batman in mid-air.”
Night Owl cursed inwardly again. What a brilliant move to turn the tables! The main universe's Batman had made his point so clear, obviously suspecting someone of sabotage, or even suspecting him.
Night Owl certainly suspected that the main universe Batman was behind it, but the key issue was that he lacked evidence and significantly lacked public support. Furthermore, after Lego Batman was captured, the main universe Batman led the rescue effort, even venturing into the dangerous Enchanted Forest, which cleared him of most of the suspicion.
On the contrary, it was he himself who seemed more suspicious, having only half-heartedly pursued the situation and then slowly catching up. If traces of his own were found near the cabin, even if he couldn't expose Saffir immediately, he could still accuse him of murdering a classmate, and at the very least, he would be expelled from school.
"We can't just sit here and wait to die," Night Owl gritted his teeth. He had only just come into contact with dark magic, and although it was difficult, Saffir had recently revealed a lot about contracts to him, which would definitely help him gain powerful strength through those contracts. With power, everything would be easier. He absolutely couldn't give up at this critical juncture.
How could he break this deadlock? Night Owl's mind raced. Many ideas flashed through his mind, only to be rejected. He had far too few resources; he was outnumbered and outmatched, and it was unsustainable.
The only person who can help him now is Sapphire. This guy is a dark mage who can pull off tricks right under the Sorcerer Supreme's nose; he has to get him to the hut ahead of time to erase any traces.
This isn't just for Nite Owl's benefit. With so many Batmen breaking into his cabin to search, he's bound to be exposed. They're in the same boat now; he has no choice but to cooperate.
But how could he contact him? Night Owl felt a headache coming on. That guy was cunning; he had hinted several times during their studies that he wanted his contact information, but the guy had always turned him down. Now, only the guy could contact him unilaterally, and he couldn't rely on him at all if something happened.
But Night Owl calmed down and thought it over. After all, Sapphire was a master of dark magic; he possessed immense power and was not someone to be trifled with. He certainly wouldn't leave his stronghold undefended. In fact, from the moment he first entered the Enchanted Forest, he had noticed that Sapphire's territory encompassed the entire forest, leaving traces everywhere.
This proves his strong control over the Magic Forest. Any disturbance here shouldn't escape his notice. In other words, if I make any noise, he's very likely to come and investigate. If he discovers a group of students approaching his stronghold, he'll definitely take some measures to disguise it.
Thinking this, the night owl began to survey its surroundings. And what it did reveal was something amiss. Perhaps it was the wrong time of day, but the Magic Forest seemed to have changed; the types and styles of plants were different from when it had arrived at night.
Little did he know, the props team, at the director's behest, had rearranged the Enchanted Forest according to the illustrations compiled by the main universe's Batman. He had assumed the forest truly possessed some mysterious enchantment, and that everyone's experience would be different.
Suddenly, behind the large tree on his right, he saw a tall plant. An image immediately flashed through his mind—it seemed to be recorded in the encyclopedia that this plant was an extremely aggressive carnivorous plant that would attack anything that moved near its defensive range.
Night Owl smiled slightly. Taking advantage of the fact that the main universe's Batman was focused on walking forward and not paying attention, he took out his wand and secretly pointed it at the carnivorous plant.
"Ow!"
