Chapter 3402 Son of Midnight (I)
Schiller walked into the spacious and bright ward. Harley, lying on the bed covered with a quilt, was bored and trying to spit the cherry pits in her mouth accurately into the trash can beside her.
"How's it going, ma'am?" Schiller walked over and smiled. "Your doctor told me that the delivery went smoothly. How are you feeling now?"
"Not bad." Harry puffed up his cheeks and said, "It's just a little boring in the hospital. Jack won't let me leave the hospital and insists on another week of observation. I'm really suffocating."
"It's good to observe for a while longer," Schiller advised. He walked over to the bed and sat down, poured Harry a glass of water, and then said, "Have you thought of a name for the child?"
"Thomas and Henry," said Harry, shrugging. "Aren't they pretty rustic?"
"I thought it would be Thomas and John," Schiller said. "That's not bad, actually. It's hard to go wrong with that. Was that Jack's idea?"
"I guess so." Harry nodded and said, "He actually wanted to call his eldest son David, but I think Thomas is better. They all look so unfashionable anyway, so why not choose something more common?"
Schiller chatted with Harley for a while, and then saw the Pale Knight coming over with a pile of reports. He stood up and made room for the Pale Knight. The Pale Knight nodded to him.
"The child is doing well, but..."
When the child was mentioned, Harley became nervous. She kept stretching her neck to read the report in the White Knight's hand. The White Knight adjusted the bed for her and let her lie down, then said, "The good news is that there is nothing wrong with her body. The bad news is that we may have to raise two superpowers."
Harley was obviously confused. She said, "Superpower? How can he be a superpower? Aren't we both ordinary people?"
"The toxins you inhaled during pregnancy caused the children's genes to mutate. Fortunately, it's not a bad mutation. The two children's muscle strength is about three times stronger than that of an average person, and their cardiopulmonary function is twice that of a normal person."
"Wow, we're going to raise two strong men in the future?"
"I'm afraid so. It's not clear yet how well they can control their muscles. If it's not good enough, we may need to give them additional training."
"We? Can we really?"
"I think it's okay." The Pale Knight gently stroked Harley's long hair, and then said, "No matter what the future holds, we will face it together."
Schiller and the Pale Knight walked out of the ward together. Standing in front of the ward door, the Pale Knight said, "Fortunately, Harley gave birth here. I don't think there is a doctor in our hospital who can get up and continue working immediately after being kicked over by a newborn who was less than ten seconds old."
Schiller smiled and said, "This is also a rare situation here, but the doctors here are indeed more experienced."
As the two walked downstairs, Schiller said, "I heard that Harley had an episiotomy. To ensure a good recovery, you'd better stay for a while."
"Of course." The Pale Knight nodded and said, "Although Harley did a lot of exercise during her pregnancy, the twins were too big to have a completely natural birth. She was really suffering."
"Then stay with her more. There's nothing important to do here, Mr. Mayor. When she's almost recovered, you're welcome to come to the farm to play."
The Pale Knight finally laughed as well, and he said, "I will. Are you ready for a crazy mother and two strong children?"
“My farm is set up for that.”
After parting with the Pale Knight, Schiller drove back to the farm from Los Angeles. As soon as he got back, he heard some chatter in the house. Schiller walked to the door and held the door handle, vaguely hearing someone discussing the Doujie dungeon.
Schiller pushed the door open and everyone stood up. Dick said, "Doctor, you're back? How's the new mother?"
"Not bad. But Mr. Napier's two children have become super-powered people."
"Superpowers? What kind of superpowers? Mutants?" Harley was obviously very concerned about this topic. She said, "Is it because of Quinzel's genes? Will I give birth to a superpowered person?"
"Then you might have to go breathe some poison gas." Schiller put the snacks he bought on the table and said, "Similar to Captain America's superpowers, in simple terms, it's Hercules."
Harley sighed in disappointment. She said, "I thought it would be a little cooler. After interacting with those mutants, I also want to transplant the X gene into myself."
"Then you'd better make sure you can get Omega or Alpha level, and it has to be an ability that you can control. It probably only accounts for a few tenths of a percent of the total mutant population."
Thinking of the topic they talked about before, Schiller asked: "Have you arranged the latest double book? How do you feel about it?"
"Not bad, I'm quite interested in this subject." Tim was the first to speak, "I finally became a wizard."
Jason next to him curled his lips and said, "The magic in that world is different from the real world. There are a lot of things to learn. I can't get into it at all..."
"You chose a magic theme?" Schiller asked.
"No, we chose the school. It turned out to be a medieval magic school. We both became apprentices in the wizard's tower, and every day we just memorized those difficult spell structures and runes..."
Schiller became more and more certain of his guess. It seemed that all the free two-player copies were in the same large map.
"Have you completed the mission?"
Tim nodded as he unpacked his snacks and said, "Yes, our mission is quite simple. We just study in class, and then independently solve the cases sent by the royal family when the teacher is not around. We did a pretty good job."
"What about you?" Schiller looked at Harry and asked.
"Me? It wasn't that easy for us." Harry sighed, dropped his hands and threw himself into the sofa, then said, "We thought that Pa had an advantage in plant science, so we chose a natural science label, but ended up throwing us into a shitty French tower to study natural magic."
"Have you figured it out?"
"The plants in the game world are completely different from those in the real world. Xiaopa's knowledge is useless. But I secretly sold the plants I cultivated to witches who wanted to make medicine and made a lot of money. The mission was barely completed."
"What is your mission?"
"We were just talking about this," Tim said. "Strangely enough, the royal case we are investigating is about a nobleman who was poisoned by a potion. We want to trace the source of the herbs, and we found them in their herb greenhouse..."
"Me too." Dick said, "Raven's identity in the game world is a witch. She was wrongly accused of making a poisonous potion and was imprisoned, so I had to rescue her."
"So you guys are also in the same group." Schiller said, "We're also an acquaintance group. Everyone is connected together by various clues, and the world setting is similar to yours."
Tim's eyes immediately lit up, he looked at Harley and said, "Look what I said, I said it must be a large map to accommodate all the double-row players."
"Have you heard of the Duchy of Westchester?" Schiller asked.
Tim was stunned, but Jason said, "You mean that small country in the east? My God, it really is a map!"
Harley also seemed thoughtful, and it was obvious that she had investigated something. Schiller said, "It seems that you were all born in the Magic Empire. Has anyone ever come into contact with the Steam Technology Empire?"
Several people looked at each other and shook their heads. Schiller took the bag of potato chips from Tim and opened the bag while saying, "Have you ever come into contact with other players while doing the mission?"
Tim nodded quickly and said, "I met Batman. Harley seemed to have met Wonder Woman..."
Schiller thought for a moment and said, "It seems that it is distributed according to the big world. My universe belongs neither here nor there, so we are allocated to the small country in the middle."
After discussing the situation in the two-player dungeon world with them for a while, Schiller discovered that these clever guys had similar ideas to his. After completing the game, they all sold the resources in the game, either in exchange for Doujie coins or for technology.
"We are going to do another round of sorting," Tim said. "We found that as long as we choose a tag like a location, there is a high probability that there will be a business element. If you manage the place well, you can exchange it for money, so you don't have to spend money in the game."
Harley was also very ambitious. She said, "There are many rich people in the multiverse. I sold the herbal greenhouse that I ran with Papa to the noble Wonder Woman, and she promised to give each of us an artifact from Mount Olympus. It's a huge profit!"
Schiller coughed twice and said, "It's boring to play the same mode all the time. Maybe you can wait for a while before queuing up again."
"Are you serious?" Harley frowned and looked at Schiller and said, "Aren't you known for being greedy? You don't even want to make this money?"
"If you go in later, it will not be a good time to make money." Schiller thought to himself. Of course, if you go in later, you should be able to experience the joy of doing business in the end times.
He didn't say what was in his mind because he knew the kids wouldn't listen.
The Batman of the Pale Knight universe has returned. His mentality has adjusted well. The next stop should be to go to Bruce's universe to meet Alfred. I hope he won't be too excited when he sees Thomas and Martha in that universe.
After things were settled in Los Angeles, Schiller returned to New York. He went to New York Presbyterian Hospital and found out that Strange had taken a leave of absence. He thought he had returned to Kamar-Taj, but after calling Kamar-Taj, he found out that Strange had gone to the Sanctum Sanctorum.
Shiller hadn't been to the Holy of Holies for a long time, mainly because Wall Street was too far from his sanatorium. Things were going smoothly there, and there was nothing to worry about. The last time he was there was probably a few years ago.
Schiller took the shuttle to Wall Street, bought a cup of coffee, and walked into the Holy of Holies. As soon as he entered, he saw a flaming skull sitting in the hall, as if waiting for someone.
"Hey, Johnny." Schiller walked over and said hello, then said, "Are you here to discuss business for Mephisto again?"
The flaming skull shook his head, looking helpless. He said, "I'm not Johnny. I'm Danny. Danny Cage. I'm here to find the Sorcerer Supreme."
Schiller then remembered that there were two Ghost Riders in New York. One was Johnny Blaze and the other was Danny Cage. They were not first-generation or second-generation relatives, but brothers, both descendants of the Kyle family, and both bore the curse of the Ghost Rider.
Johnny has been running errands for Mephisto, sometimes going to the Sanctuary of the Holy of Holies to discuss insurance business, sometimes going to Kamar-Taj to apply for an Earth visa, but Danny rarely shows up, and most of the time he should be performing the duties of Ghost Rider.
"Hello, Danny, I'm Schiller, you should have heard of me."
"Oh my God, you are Dr. Schiller." Danny was a little surprised. He stood up and shook hands with Schiller, trying hard to control his fiery eyes from turning towards Schiller.
"What do you want from Stephen?"
"Well, we want to form a supernatural superhero group called the Midnight Sons. Commissioner Fury said that the Sorcerer Supreme is in charge of this matter. I'm here to handle the paperwork."
