Chapter 3080: It’s Over (Part )
Schiller was sitting in his office at Arkham Sanatorium, watching short videos on his phone. With a bang, the door was pushed open and Peter rushed in.
"Doctor! Doctor! Help me take a look at this!" Peter held the phone in front of Schiller and said, "What do you think of this big balloon? It will be so cool at the wedding!"
Schiller took a look and found that it was one of those internet celebrity weddings seen on short video apps. They had a big balloon that could pull people up, with the words "Fly, my love" written on it, and then the bride and groom slowly flew together.
"I'm just sure your Uncle Stark will kill you if you put this at your wedding," Schiller said.
"Ah!" Peter raised his head and screamed, then collapsed on the sofa beside him, his whole body like a puddle of mud.
"If you're not busy, you might as well check the guest list again. Even though you don't have many guests, it will be troublesome if you make a mistake." Schiller reminded him countless times.
"If I had known I wouldn't have joined in on this!" Peter slumped down on the sofa and said, "Gwen and I are so nervous."
Schiller sighed. This story started with Stark’s wedding.
The invitations for Stark's wedding had been sent out, the date had been set, and it was about to take place, but Steve's girlfriend Carter was pregnant.
In theory, this is nothing. At most, you just need to be careful during the wedding and avoid bumping into anything.
But Steve is a relatively traditional man, and Carter's parents are also relatively traditional Christians. They cannot accept having children out of wedlock, so Steve hurriedly began to prepare for his and Carter's wedding.
Stark saw that since we were going to have a wedding anyway, why not have Steve join us? No matter how hard Steve tried, his wedding would never be bigger than his. Stark was confident that the wedding process he arranged would give the bride an unforgettable memory.
Steve and Carter discussed it and decided that it would be a good idea to hold a group wedding. On the one hand, Stark had basically taken care of every aspect of the wedding, so they didn't need to worry too much. On the other hand, Steve didn't have many relatives on his side, and if they held a separate wedding, it would not look good with so few people, so it would be better for everyone to get together and have fun.
Steve agreed, which made Stark very happy, because in his opinion, it was an approval of his wedding planning and affirmation of his romantic aesthetic.
Stark is a man of the times. He thinks two couples are not enough. When he sees that Peter and Gwen are also getting married, he thinks you two should hurry up and get married with us.
Peter actually didn't want to join in the fun, but Gwen did the math for him, and after seeing the whole string of zeros on the cost of holding an independent wedding, he thought that a group wedding was really great.
It can't be said that Peter and Gwen are poor. The various patent fees they receive alone have made them a lot of money. However, there is no richest person in New York, only richer people. The assets they have are only considered middle class, which cannot be compared with the tycoons on those streets.
Although they don't plan to have children now, if they want their children to receive elite education in the future, these savings will be far from enough. If they spend a lot of money on a wedding, it will be even more stretched.
Neither of them is the kind of person who likes to show off. They live a very frugal life and save as much as possible. If they were asked to go to the church when they get married, they would just invite a few close friends for a small gathering.
However, given their current social status, they cannot not hold a wedding at all. The patented technologies they have developed need investment. Even if it is just for the laboratory to attract investment, the bigger the better. This is an important social occasion and cannot be skimped on.
From this perspective, holding a group wedding has many advantages. You don't have to spend too much money, and you can talk to celebrities at the wedding about your patented technology and recommend your own laboratory without hindering the gathering of relatives and friends.
More importantly, Stark is a man who values his reputation more than anything else. If you don't spend his money, you're looking down on him. He is also emotional, and thinks that if his good brother is willing to let him hold the ceremony of his lifelong event, he's showing him too much respect, so he has to make it even more grand than before.
The result is that the layout has to be readjusted, the wedding has to be postponed, and the previous invitations have been invalidated and will be sent out again after everything is done.
Although there are still many places that need to be adjusted, the big framework has been completed after all. Stark said that to be conservative, it would only take a month to postpone it, but Peter made a rational judgment and felt that it would take at least two months to complete.
It was originally planned to be held on the West Coast, but Los Angeles was no longer enough for Stark, so he simply bought an island on the West Coast and moved all the arrangements to the island.
That is to say, he has countless mechas and various mechanical equipment, so it is not difficult for him to move them. If an ordinary person were to do this, it would take at least half a year.
Stark was in charge of the overall framework of the wedding, and Peter and Steve also had to finalize some details. Peter was responsible for decorating the flower path for the newlyweds to enter, which was driving him crazy.
First of all, Peter Parker is a science student, and the romantic part of his mind accounts for a very small proportion. Otherwise, he is not ugly and his academic performance is good, so he would not have become a nerd who is bullied in school.
Secondly, Gwen is also a science student. She is better than Peter, but not to a certain extent. Moreover, she has been dealing with the machines in the laboratory since graduation. Their daily topics are theory and experiment. They have never experienced birthday flowers, candlelight dinners, or honeymoon trips.
Fish seek fish, shrimp seek shrimp, turtle seeks tortoise. This pair of Crouching Dragon and Phoenix Chick just happened to meet each other. If it were anyone else, they would be pissed to death.
Letting these two people be in charge of the wedding decorations is definitely the worst idea Stark has come up with in the past decade, no doubt about it.
Over the past few days, Schiller has seen dozens of Internet celebrity plans that Peter found on the Internet, each one more outrageous than the other. If these outrageous things appeared at the wedding scene carefully arranged by Stark, Iron Man would be able to punch Peter into the ground and he would not be able to dig them out.
But Peter really had no imagination in this regard, and he didn't know what the atmosphere should be like when the bride and groom appeared.
Schiller put a lot of effort into this, such as guiding him to imagine the scene of first meeting Gwen, imagining the first time he revealed his true identity to Gwen, and recalling the scene of their trip to Hollywood together.
The memories are all beautiful, but when it comes to reality, the scene is comparable to an industrial exhibition.
Peter twisted and turned on the sofa, groaning. Schiller was really annoyed by him. After thinking for a while, he said, "I can't solve your problem. You still have to find a professional."
"Professional? Is there anyone more professional than you?"
"I'm talking about professionals in wedding planning, at least in terms of design..." Schiller thought for a moment and said, "Didn't Eddie follow the filming of a wedding documentary for a whole season? He should be very familiar with Tony's ideas for designing the wedding, why don't you go find him?"
Peter suddenly got enlightened and jumped up from the sofa, taking out his cell phone to call Eddie while running out the door.
"Why is he still like a child?" A familiar voice sounded in Schiller's ears. He turned around and saw a ball of gray mist.
"Why are you back at this hour? Are you hungry again?"
"No." Gray Mist churned for a moment and said, "I have to come back to attend Tony Stark's wedding. The chocolates he customized are really delicious."
"That's right, if Venom goes, you have to go too, otherwise all those expensive custom chocolates will go to him for free."
"Heh, he's a tasteless glutton who throws everything into his mouth." Gray Mist said with some disdain. He then looked at the webpage on Schiller's computer and said, "Are you looking at the job postings? Is the nursing home short of doctors?"
"Doctors are not recruited on this website." Schiller shook his head, put down his phone, looked at the computer again and said, "Didn't I buy a farm? There is a need for manpower. Although I don't plan to make a living from farming, I still need people to clean up and so on."
Gray Mist nodded seriously, then floated to the other side and said, "The phone is about to ring."
Schiller picked up the phone, and sure enough, it rang soon, with the cheerful voice of Scarlet Witch Wanda coming from the other end.
"Doctor, have you heard? Tony Stark invited me and Jarvis to hold a wedding together!"
"You guys are coming too?!" Schiller said in surprise, then he shook his head and continued, "Tony is a little too excited. It's a lot of trouble to prepare for the wedding of four couples. Is he ready to receive the mutants?"
"That's what I was going to say, doctor. I don't really want to call Eric. Can you ask him if there are any mutants who can come?"
"Okay, I'll call him later, but you'd better not hold your hopes too high. The Andromeda Galaxy is not peaceful, and he will probably leave a lot of people behind."
"Okay, I understand. Thank you, doctor."
After hanging up the phone, Schiller sighed again. It would have been fine with just three couples, but now there's Scarlet Witch and Jarvis added to the mix. If nothing goes wrong at the wedding, it would be a shame for Stark's generosity.
But it turned out that Stark was more excited than he thought, because not long after, Matt called.
"You should have received Tony's call, right? Doctor, he insisted on getting me and Erica to hold a wedding together. We both have one..."
"There's nothing we can do. He's too excited now and won't listen to anyone's advice." Schiller said, "I hope you won't see Kingpin at the wedding."
"Of course." Matt's voice showed how much of a headache he had. He said, "That's why we don't want to have a big wedding. Erica and I both have a lot of enemies, and they're likely to cause trouble at the wedding."
"Is there anything I can do to help?"
"It's okay for adults, but there are children at the wedding, so safety is of utmost importance. If possible, how about we get together at SHIELD tomorrow?"
"No problem, just tell me a time."
Schiller and Matt made an appointment to go to SHIELD to talk to Nick about the security of the wedding tomorrow afternoon. Although it is a bit exaggerated to require SHIELD to escort a wedding, Nick may need this opportunity to get reimbursed.
Sure enough, later on, Schiller received a call from Nick, who said this in a very decisive tone.
"SHIELD must take down this big project, Doctor Schiller. The funding for the next two years depends on this. Do you have the confidence?!"
"I'm pretty confident you'll take a punch from Tony!"
Today is my mother's birthday, so we went out for dinner a little earlier
