Chapter 1098 Being Cheated
Chapter 1098 Being Cheated
Li Jianjun was flattered by these words and patted his chest to boast, "That was when I was young. I was the best drinker in the factory, known as the 'Li who can drink a thousand cups without getting drunk'... Li Jianjun!" His tongue was almost slurred, but he still insisted on continuing.
Lili smiled, and while he tilted his head back to drink, she swiftly pulled a small paper packet from her pocket and flicked some white powder into Li Jianjun's glass, her movements as fast as the wind. The powder dissolved instantly upon contact with the alcohol, leaving no trace. She put down the packet, picked up her own glass, and said, "Since you can drink so much, young man, let's drink until we drop tonight! I'll drink with you until we're completely drunk!"
Li Jianjun had no time to think about anything else; he just found the girl's voice pleasing to the ear. He picked up his glass and clinked it against hers, then gulped down another large mouthful. Glass after glass, the liquor poured down his throat like water. Before long, his head grew heavier and heavier, and Lili in front of him became two shadows. The surrounding noise seemed to be muffled by a layer of cotton. He was so confused that he didn't know how much he had drunk; he only felt dizzy and disoriented. Finally, with a thud, he collapsed onto the table, completely still.
Seeing Li Jianjun's face flushed crimson, his eyes gleaming with a vacant light—clearly he was completely drunk—Lili immediately formed a plan. A calculating smile played on her lips. She reached out and picked up a full glass of wine from the table, offering it to Li Jianjun in a sickeningly sweet voice: "Young man, judging by your drinking capacity, you're probably not quite done yet, are you? How about another glass to liven things up?"
Li Jianjun mumbled "Drink...drink some more..." but his body was already limp as a rag doll, swaying and staggering. He was only barely keeping from sliding to the ground by supporting himself on the table with one arm. His tongue was tied, and he was muttering incoherent nonsense. He had no idea what he was saying. He was just mechanically tilting his head back and chugging the liquor, oblivious to the liquid dripping down his chin and soaking his clothes.
Seeing his completely drunk state, Lili knew she had achieved her goal. She quietly winked at the brothers who had been exchanging glances with her, then lowered her voice and said in a voice only they could hear, "Alright, he's had enough. Help him to my room." Her mind was racing—judging from Li Jianjun's fine shirt and shiny imported watch, he was clearly a guy with spare cash. This deal was a sure thing.
After a good night's sleep, Li Jianjun groggily woke up early the next morning with a splitting headache. Sunlight streamed in through the gaps in the heavy curtains, stinging his eyes like needles. His head felt like it was stuffed with water-soaked cotton; he was incredibly dizzy and couldn't remember where he was or what had happened the night before. His mind was a complete blank.
He struggled to sit up, but his body was too weak; he swayed as soon as he managed to prop himself up halfway. Just then, out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a strange girl sitting on the sofa next to him, staring at him with a half-smile, her eyes filled with inquiry and amusement. Li Jianjun's heart skipped a beat, as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over him. He instantly sobered up, staring at her warily, and asked in a hoarse voice, "Who are you? Where is this? How did I get here?"
Lili slowly stood up, raised her hand to tidy her slightly disheveled hair, and smiled meaningfully: "Young man, you've already forgotten about me after just one night? We had a very pleasant chat last night, and you even said..."
"Stop!" Li Jianjun abruptly interrupted her, his gaze quickly sweeping over his relatively neat clothes before warily surveying the unfamiliar room—the walls were covered in tacky paper decorations, several empty bottles lay on the table, and the air was thick with a faint smell of alcohol and unfamiliar perfume. Though his dizziness hadn't completely subsided, he already knew roughly what was going on. Back when he was the deputy factory director, he'd seen plenty of these extortion schemes, and he quickly forced himself to calm down, his tone so even it betrayed no emotion: "Alright, stop beating around the bush. Just say it. What do you want?"
Lily raised an eyebrow and nodded to herself—this time she really hadn't misjudged him. Those who had been harassed by them before were either terrified and incoherent or rushed to beg for mercy, but this one had regained his composure shortly after waking up. It seemed he had some influence and power.
After exchanging a few words, Li Jianjun patted his pockets and said frankly, "To be honest, I don't have much cash on me right now. If you're thinking of extorting money from me, you're going to be disappointed."
Lili's smile faded, and her tone turned colder, carrying a threatening undertone: "Didn't bring any money? That's easy. If word gets back to your family or your boss at work last night, who do you think will respect you anymore? You'll lose all face."
Li Jianjun remained calm. Instead, he chuckled softly, a hint of malice flashing in his eyes, and slowly said, "I have an idea. If you help me with something, I'll give you far more money than you can extort right now. What do you say?"
Lily's eyes lit up instantly, and she became very interested. She leaned forward and said, "Oh? What is it? Tell me, as long as it's not a job that will cost you your head, we can discuss it."
Li Jianjun glanced at the door to make sure no one was eavesdropping before lowering his voice and saying, word by word, "Help me seduce someone. As long as you can make him suffer a major setback, ruin his reputation, money is no object. I'll give you as much as you want."
"Who?" Lili pressed, curious about who could possibly hold such a grudge against him.
"Gu Nan." Li Jianjun clenched his teeth as he uttered those two words.
Lili paused for a moment, then seemed to remember something, a knowing smile appearing on her face. She nodded decisively and replied, "Okay, we'll take this job." She knew that Gu Nan was quite famous in this area, and there must be a story behind why Li Jianjun hated him so much. This deal was worth doing.
Lili knew that she could get money as long as she helped him. After all, Li Jianjun dressed like a rich man. Besides, she had photos of herself and Li Jianjun. If Li Jianjun didn't cooperate, she could just give the photos to the police station and accuse him of bullying her, and they could arrest him.
Thinking about the money she could make, Lili looked at Li Jianjun and said, "Tell me, who exactly is this Gu Nan?"
