Chapter 939: The Cunning Rabbit Threatens Gu Nan
[Generating topographic map... Transmitted to host's mind.] As soon as the system's mechanical tone faded, a detailed three-dimensional topographic map appeared in Gu Nan's mind, as clear as a hologram. Every aisle of the warehouse, every staircase turn, even the hidden doors in the corners and the stacked wooden boxes were clearly marked, even the position of the load-bearing columns was accurate to the centimeter.
Gu Nan's heart suddenly felt reassured, and a cold smile curved his lips. These people thought they could trap him with the complex terrain of the warehouse? Little did they know, with the system's support, this place had become his home turf. He clenched his fists secretly, a fierce look flashing in his eyes: Anyone who dared to touch him and his family would pay the price. Today, he would teach these desperate criminals a lesson.
Taking cover from the shelves and wooden boxes, Gu Nan moved through the warehouse like a ghost, his footsteps so light that they made almost no sound. He first went around behind a subordinate who was searching with his back to him, and when the time was right, he formed his right hand into a knife and swiftly and accurately chopped the vital part of the man's neck. The subordinate fell straight down like a bag of rice without even a grunt. Then, he used a row of stacked wooden boxes to hide his figure, and when another man walked by with a gun, he suddenly jumped out from the side, locked the man's wrist holding the gun with his left hand, and snatched the gun with his right hand. He then elbowed the man in the chest with his backhand, and before he could react, he had twisted his arm behind his back and pinned him to the ground. In just a few minutes, he quietly dealt with the three people who came to find him.
Gu Nan didn't dare to let his guard down. Although he had the terrain system to guide him, he knew these people were armed with guns, and the slightest mistake could cost their lives. He took every step carefully, his ears constantly alert to the surroundings, like a cheetah ready to pounce.
Afterwards, he used the terrain to his advantage and dispatched three more of his men, his movements clean and efficient. Each time he subdued one, he immediately took out the rope he carried with him and tied him up tightly, then tore off the corner of his clothes and stuffed them into their mouths—he didn't want to reveal his position to their shouting, and he didn't want to cause any more trouble.
Gu Nan never killed them. He knew he was just an ordinary citizen, and even if they were assassins, he couldn't easily cross the line. He just needed to subdue them. If someone died, it would only cause more trouble later.
In the control room on the second floor of the warehouse, Cunning Rabbit stared at the surveillance screen, his brows furrowed ever deeper. He turned to look at Zhang Du beside him, his tone tinged with unease, "Something's amiss. It's been so long, why hasn't anyone brought Gu Nan up yet? Where are the people down there?"
Zhang Du was also a little impatient and said hesitantly: "You don't mean to say... all the people we sent were knocked unconscious by him?"
Cunning Rabbit drummed his fingertips on the table, his eyes sinister. He knew his men's abilities all too well; they were all well-trained fighters. How could they have remained silent for so long? He gritted his teeth and said to Zhang Du, "Gather the remaining brothers and concentrate our efforts! Don't give Gu Nan the chance to defeat them one by one. Force him out!"
Zhang Du was stunned for a moment: "Is this necessary? Maybe they just got separated during the search..."
Cunning Rabbit sneered, a hint of excitement flashing in his eyes: "This Gu Nan is more interesting than I thought. I want to meet him in person to see if his skills are better or my strategy is better."
Zhang Du didn't argue. He pulled a specially crafted metal whistle from his pocket, brought it to his lips, and blew hard. The sharp whistle pierced the warehouse's din, echoing in every corner. The men who were scattered searching downstairs heard the signal, immediately stopped, and began to move toward the assembly point.
Gu Nan heard the whistle from the shadows and knew something was wrong. He didn't act rashly, but quickly hid in a corner filled with sacks, holding his breath and observing the situation.
In the control room, Cunning Rabbit looked at his men who were gathering one after another on the surveillance camera, counted them briefly, and his face instantly darkened - after counting, there were actually six people missing!
He never expected that Gu Nan would not be frightened, but actually dare to take action, and in one move, he eliminated six of his men. Although these six people were not top-notch masters, they were all top-notch fighters with hundreds of battles. How could they be defeated so quickly?
Cunning Rabbit turned to look at Zhang Du, his tone somewhat serious: "Now you know why I'm so cautious, right? This Gu Nan is definitely not an ordinary person. Come on, let's go down and deal with him together. I want to see how he gets out of here today!"
Zhang Du wanted to say something, but Cunning Rabbit waved his hand, a fierce look flashing in his eyes. "Open all the traps in the warehouse—those trip wires, rock traps, and even the gates of the ventilation ducts. Leave none of them. I don't believe he can hide like this!"
Zhang Du hesitated and said, "What if he gets desperate and tries to escape?"
A cruel smile curled up the corner of the rabbit's mouth. "Run? I've already sealed the exit of this warehouse. He'll either be caught by us or the mechanism will be disabled. There's no third way!"
Cunning Rabbit dragged a rusty speaker from the depths of the warehouse, wiped the dust off with his sleeve, and walked to a spot near the main door. He flipped the switch and tested the sound. The harsh sound of electricity echoed in the empty warehouse. He shouted into the speaker, "Gu Nan, I know you're coming. Don't hide. You took care of those six guys just now, didn't you? You're quite capable."
He paused, his tone filled with a sinister threat. "If you want to leave now, I can give you a way out. But you have to think carefully. I know exactly which building and unit your wife and children live in. If you dare to take a single step out of this warehouse, I will immediately send people armed. Even if it means losing all of us here, I will drag your family down with you. Do you believe me?"
Gu Nan hid behind a pile of discarded wooden crates, his knuckles white from clenching his fists. He'd been planning on sprinting out before the other party could react, but he hadn't expected these people to be so despicable as to threaten his family. He took a deep breath, suppressing his rage. His voice, carried through the crates, was a bit melancholy: "I have no grudge against you. What have I done to offend you that you must kill me?"
The cunning rabbit sneered into the loudspeaker, his tone frivolous yet somewhat matter-of-fact. "Sorry, we have no grudge against you. But someone paid a large sum of money to hire us to kill you. We are paid to do this, so we have no choice."
He seemed to think that this was not enough, and added a "kind" suggestion: "In my opinion, you'd better end it yourself and suffer less. Then we can report back and you can get away with it. What do you think? This is a good deal." The voice from the loudspeaker was filled with the noise of electricity, but it conveyed the cold-bloodedness and ruthlessness clearly.
