Chapter 168: God-Slaying Alliance
Chapter 168: God-Slaying Alliance
Colorful divine power surged out from Ling Yuan's hands, tightly trapping the shaken Odin's soul. Ling Yuan looked at the black soul constantly struggling in his divine power, his eyes full of mockery.
"If you were carrying the Eternal Spear Gungnir, you could have fought me for two rounds, but in this state... forget it!"
Odin stopped struggling. He completely understood the horror of the man in front of him. He looked into Ling Yuan's eyes with a look of relief in his eyes.
"What a beautiful divine core! We will meet again... When the time comes, I will definitely use Gungnir to penetrate your beautiful divine core!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Odin's soul shattered, and Ling Yuan's divine power devoured the remaining divine power in Odin's soul and was taken back into his body by Ling Yuan.
Ling Yuan didn't care about Odin's harsh words. Compared with Odin's threatening words, he cared more about what Odin called his "beautiful" core of divinity. It was a pity that no matter how hard he looked inside, he couldn't see anything.
"Yuan...what about her?" Kara walked to Ling Yuan with Maeve in her arms and asked with a frown.
Ling Yuan waved his hand: "Arrange a room for her and let her rest for a while. I'll go get us some lunch."
Seeing Ling Yuan's indifference, Kara was relieved. Odin's divine power was just the power of his soul, and the pressure made it difficult for her to breathe. It was not until now that Kara truly understood how big the gap was between herself and a real god.
When Maeve woke up, it was already afternoon. Maeve rubbed her aching head and looked around. Combined with the last bit of memory when she lost consciousness, Maeve realized that she was in Lingyuan's home at the moment.
Maeve got out of bed with difficulty. Her legs felt as heavy as if they were filled with lead. Every step she took required great effort. Her face was as pale as paper, and beads of sweat were still hanging on her forehead. It was obvious that her body had not fully recovered, but she still forced herself to walk slowly towards the door.
When she finally reached the door, she reached out and grasped the doorknob, turning it gently, and the door opened a crack. At this moment, a figure appeared outside the door, ready to push the door open. The two looked at each other, and Maeve was surprised to find that the person was Kara.
Kara saw Maeve open the door, and a look of concern appeared on her face. She quickly stepped forward, supported Maeve's shaky body, and asked worriedly: "Why did you get out of bed? How do you feel?"
Kara helped Maeve back to the bed and let her lie down to rest. After Maeve's two visits, Kara felt much better about Maeve and she also had a slightly better attitude towards her.
"You're awake!" Kara said with a smile, "How do you feel? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"
"I'm fine now." Maeve shook her head. "Is this Ling Yuan's home?"
Kara nodded and said with a smile: "He went out to buy something and will be back soon. You lie down for a while! We'll talk when he comes back."
Maeve nodded and lay on the bed staring blankly at the ceiling. Her mind was blank about what happened after she lost consciousness.
"What... happened to me?" Maeve looked at Kara and asked.
Kara looked at Maeve, who was so weak but eager to know what happened. After hesitating for a moment, she told Maeve what happened after she fell into a coma.
Maeve frowned: "You mean, Odin's spirit controlled my body and fought with Ling Yuan?"
"Correct!"
Kara's answer made Maeve fall silent. She now had her own opinion about the gods. The gods in this world were just like that guy from Homelander. They regarded the lives of ordinary people as fun and were equally hypocritical.
"Can Ling Yuan...really deal with a powerful god like Odin?" Maeve asked softly.
Kara hesitated for a moment. After all, Ling Yuan chose to spare her life, so she decided to tell her: "Ling Yuan is more powerful than you think. He has killed Odin's soul."
Maeve looked up in surprise at Kara: "He is so strong... Then why did he save me? He could have erased me and the soul of Odin in me, why did he go to so much trouble to keep me?"
Kara smiled and said, "Because you play a more important role to him, he values you very much. Moreover, he seems to be very gentle to everyone. As long as you don't make an enemy of him, you will find that Ling Yuan is actually a very gentle person."
Maeve listened to Kara's words and fell into deep thought while lying on the bed. Even though Ling Yuan saved her in order to use her to accomplish something, she preferred the way Ling Yuan laid everything out in the open to her compared to the hypocrisy of Homelander.
"Ling Yuan mentioned to me that he wants to set up a God-Slaying Alliance. Are you interested in joining us?" Kara asked, looking at Maeve's thoughtful look.
Maeve did not answer Kara. Since Ling Yuan appeared in the public eye, everything around her has changed so much that Maeve still feels like she is in a dream. Kara knows that Maeve is in a state of confusion, so she does not urge Maeve to respond. She just sits quietly beside the bed, watching Maeve's lifeless eyes staring at the ceiling.
Suddenly, Maeve turned her head and looked closely at Kara: "God-killing Alliance?"
She repeated the word softly and slowly, as if she wanted to imprint it deeply in her mind; or perhaps, she just wanted to make sure that she had heard it correctly. However, when the word came out of her mouth again, the air around her seemed to become a little heavy - it was not just a simple word, but more like a key that could open a mysterious door. And at this moment, this "key" was in her hand...
Kara nodded, "Yes! This is Ling Yuan's idea. He wants to change the world. If it's just the Vought Group and the superheroes, that would be easy. He just needs to play some tricks. But as you can see, there are gods in this world, and the root of the world's chaos lies in those tyrants who claim to be gods.
"To change the world and make it less terrible, we must at least have the ability to kill gods. Today's actions have undoubtedly declared war on the gods, so we need an alliance to fight against the almighty gods together!"
Maeve was silent for a moment: "Let me think about it..."
She knew that joining the God-Slaying Alliance meant facing more dangers and challenges. Without the control of the gods over her fate, Maeve wanted to enjoy her life. Freedom was hard-won, and instead of fighting against the gods, Maeve wanted to enjoy this hard-won freedom.
Maeve didn't want to think about the affairs of the Vought Group or the mission of fighting crime. She even wanted to leave the Seven and the Vought Group, buy a house of her own overseas, and live a leisurely life.
However, she knew that she couldn't do that yet. She didn't know if the gods would manipulate her fate again after she left Lingyuan, and if she would become a plaything of the gods again.
